I cried watching this...For me it's just about appreciating the Might and mercy of the Creator..even though these people are savants, they have some genius abilities. Everyone and also every animal has some special faculties. From where ? ? ...God is one, He is not Christian, Muslim, Jew or Hindu God. He is the Creator, Father of all living beings. Like the Sun is one but in every language there's a different name for it. Similarly God is one but different religions call Him by a different name. Here is a verse from the Bhagavat Gita. God speaks about Himself in the Bhagavat Gita, the Bible of the east. See vedabase.io/en/library/bg/15/15/ Best regards. Gauranga PS please have mercy on the animals- stop eating meat. It's not necessary. I am vegetarian 30 years. Hare Krishna
Steven Ryburn I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the savior of all. But...if I wasn’t aware of that previously, it would be greatly evident to me through Alonzo saying God made him smart. Scientists say they don’t know how it’s possible, but strangely they fail to consider the opinion of the individual experiencing said “phenomenon”. When the pianist’s mother was speaking, she mentioned that the compartment of the brain that produces music was separate from the rest of his brain that was damaged, so he could, quote, “Have some sort of talent. And he got it!”. I find it extremely difficult to believe that is by coincidence and not designed by a loving, merciful God that brought good out of a debilitating condition presented to the world through original sin. The simplest of answers, “God made me smart.”, from Alonzo, along with the mother’s testimony about her son’s ability to play the piano, are both profound in their explanation to the “unexplainable”. Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life...no one comes to the Father but by Him. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Steven Ryburn My pleasure! That comment, “God uses broken vessels.”, is absolutely incredible. That should hit every hard on a deep and personal level. We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God. That’s why we need Jesus. I, too, had a huge problem with addiction, as well as, gang activity, selling drugs, making self glorifying music, having sex with countless women...and God saved me. He reached out and showed me, when I thought nobody could save me from my wretched flesh, that He could through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. I’m sorry you’re very sick, and have been dealing with such addiction. I’m glad you’re seeing that the Lord can do all things. He works all things for good for those that love Him. I praise God every day that He saved me, and I beg Him to hold His hand on me and keep me by not allowing me to fall away from Him. I pray every day that He saves me. Our walk with Christ is ever progressive and as long as we keep faith in and glorify God, then we’re always on the right track. Stay positive, as God is using you for something great! In the Bible, Stephen is stoned to death and asks God not to lay that sin to their charge...present at the death of Stephen was Saul (later to become Paul). God uses us even in our final breathe, and many times we don’t see who God has touched through us. The Bible, also, states that in the end times all things will be revealed...and we will FINALLY get to understand and comprehend more what the absolute Greatness of God really is. Keep praying to God in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and stay strong my brother.
I watched a documentary about this woman who could remember every second in her life and what hurt her the most was when someone (I think a psychiatrist) said to her that her memory is so good just because she’s obsesses with not forgetting anything in her life. Imagine having depression and someone telling you, it’s just because you are intentionally focusing all time on sad things. Is really a disgusting thing to say something like this.
@Tori. By my personal experience psychiatrists are, generally speaking, not the brightest minds around. For some of them empathy is just an abstract word in the dictionary.
It appears the mind has a balance. We of average mind know a little bit of everything but are not exceptional in anything .Savants are masters of one thing and are aware of nothing else. Wonderful. And pure of heart.
@@laserus3333 They can. I'm talking about people like DaVinci, Benjamin Franklin, Newton and others who excelled in more than one field. They advanced each field they participated in and made new discoveries in them
@Gary Nelson True. Exposure and interest are essential, but i wonder whether it isn't an inborn capacity to pursue a subject tenaciously and persistently which takes you up to the genius level..
Surely " Excellent " savants would be appropriate to describe this condition? They are extraordinary people and I hope that they are happy and being looked after. I wish them rainbows.
I know it! Praise God indeed! I've watched a few videos of individuals born with a variety of disabilities but I noticed a good number acknowledged God. You can't help but smile when they talk about Him.
@Sally Landrith Face facts. His chances of having a relationship with a grown woman are slim to none, if he has the mentality of a child. No one, especially not I, has determined he doesn't deserve love, but I would be highly suspicious of a "'woman" targeting him for a mate. He has to be loved and cared for as the beautiful person he is. Not everyone on earth gets to have a mate. It is what it is.
His uses those flat/straight fingers though! My piano teachers always told me to have rounded fingers. Not criticizing at all - he’s a better musician than ill ever be
The way the lady says "considering he's never had an art class in his life". Well, the person who started the very first art class did not attend art class. Do not judge your health on how well adjusted you are to a profoundly sick society.
to boot he replied to the interviewer plain ans simple when asked how he got hid talent... he pointed up and replied from God... we seem to forget EVERYTHING comes through the grace of God
i am sure she meant only to highlight how remarkable his talent is...if it was always expected that people who do not take an art class can be that great then this story would be an ordinary story
Larry Fine I did let “GOD” into my life but I had to let him go. You see, he put a special gift into my uncles favourite antique urn. Basically he took a dump on my poor aunties ashes...that’s the last time I invite him to a Christmas party....
Alpino Alpini thank you. I enjoyed your comment. I also refuse to capitalize anything associated with religion. It is crazy how much they hold onto their beliefs without a single shred of proof, when in fact the religions are so full of lies. I hope to see it end in my lifetime.

If only people would approach or take the time to get to know people with mentally challenged outlooks and see if there is something that they might be passionate about, so that their lives might be more enhanced for them. Maybe each of us has some ability that we know nothing of ...........yet.
This is a beautiful thing! My brother is Autistic savant, and was always taken care of by my Mom. My Mom died last year and now I have the greatest gift of taking care of him. I was never able to descibe my brother to people until Rain Man came out back in the day. My son is also Autistic, and its a double blessing for me. I thank God everyday for them. I learn so much from them. Patience, joy, they keep me humble, human kindness! Its not easy some days, but life itself is not easy anyway. We were never promised a rose garden, as mama used to say, although I feel like I have 2 of the most BEAUTIFUL of roses♥️
It's strange how we "the average person" looks at these people and ask how do they do it? As if our brains way of working is the only way but, what we call a "savant" doesn't ask Us how we do what we do. Is it our Ego that is really the curious one within us that wants to know all the answers to these questions? Is our Ego jealous that it cannot remember like they do? Or function at their level minus the obvious physical or mental side effects? Where are we really at mentally?
Alonso was such a sweetheart he just melted my heart and how funny was the second man when he asked for the interviewers name again, having clearly just forgotten it yet remembers all of those amazing dates !
Mozart had a talent like Leslie's. He was born with perfect pitch and could listen to a concerto or opera once, and could play the entire piece of music back, note for note. He was definitely a musical genius and savant of his time.
his talent was given to him, dont expect him to think of something as primitive as mathmatic's... he is beyong our mathmatics. I dont expect ppl to understand this, but after I beat cancer, I too have a few intersting gifts.
I love watching things that defy modern science because the politics of modern science measures for definition and limitations of whats not possible , where as we the faithful look for possibilities beyond possibility because its there for all to see .
Leslie played that Debussy piece up until the tape stopped and then added another 8 bars of improv that blew my mind,i thought he might have just remembered hearing it before but I listened to the original piece "la soiree dans grenade" but its completely different..what an incredible human.

See vedabase.io/en/library/bg/15/15/
Best regards.

PS please have mercy on the animals- stop eating meat. It's not necessary. I am vegetarian 30 years.

Cauko I’m sorry But that remark is funny as Hell🤭
All are loved in God's eyes. These folks are gifted with amazing abilities and have left me in awe.
At 30 years old he didn’t speak but at 36 he is playing piano and singing?? Woah!
I love how the "experts" have no idea what the savants are doing, but if you ask the savants they tell you.
J Anderson It’s cuz scientists and experts think they can explain things without God...it’s obvious they cannot.
@@HajiStaxGaming that is a very profound comment. Thank you. Absolute truth.
Amazing, isn't it?
Tori you 100% on the right track, but it goes much deeper than that...
Hanuman Ji of course it does but if you even can feel save around your psychiatrist who should you even trust?!
"LIFE IS HARD .... THESE ARE THE TRUTHS
THE GREAT TRUTHS!" tic
@Tori. By my personal experience psychiatrists are, generally speaking, not the brightest minds around. For some of them empathy is just an abstract word in the dictionary.
This was so interesting. Each person touched my soul. Amazing. Very moving
That song at the end , truly a message to his mother.
cristina Fultz hey I know that got to me too
It’s amazing to see what the mind is capable of when it pours its all into one thing...
Exactly.
I love their answers! All three. When Lesly said, “ I’m a musician.” U couldn’t argue that! and he can sing. So beautiful!!!
True beauty are these amazing people.
Interviewer - How do you make these very tiny details like the hoof and eyes
Alonzo - With my fingernail.. LOL
love that answer!
So humble 😄

When he said that God gave him the talent... amen, brother. Beautiful!

It appears the mind has a balance. We of average mind know a little bit of everything but are not exceptional in anything .Savants are masters of one thing and are aware of nothing else. Wonderful. And pure of heart.
..then there are geniuses who know a lot about a lot!
@@warpnin3 True. They know alot about alot. But can they tapdance as well? Or just know all the dancers.
@@laserus3333 They can. I'm talking about people like DaVinci, Benjamin Franklin, Newton and others who excelled in more than one field. They advanced each field they participated in and made new discoveries in them
@Gary Nelson True. Exposure and interest are essential, but i wonder whether it isn't an inborn capacity to pursue a subject tenaciously and persistently which takes you up to the genius level..
warpnin3 Oh, please! Newton stole ideas and claimed them as his own. Law of energy? Sounds like Karma to me.
Surely " Excellent " savants would be appropriate to describe this condition?
They are extraordinary people and I hope that they are happy and being looked after.
I wish them rainbows.
"if the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't"
Nicely put :)
Cute aphorism, but no evidence that it's true.
@@jsmall10671 thank you for expressing yourself
mind blown!
@@jsmall10671 So the guy sculpting wasn't evidence or the others? Are you saying their lying or fooling people?
I would love and protect people like them. Especially Alonzo. Love his personality.
I remember seeing Alonzo on a talk show when I was little. I will never forget how peaceful he looks while he's sculpting.
That last clip as he broke out in vocals melted my heart.
"So many nights I sit by my window..."
Alonzo's pure joy is clearly visible in his blissful face.
Alonzo gave you the answer but you don't have ears to hear it.
Amen!! He did tell us.
I know it! Praise God indeed! I've watched a few videos of individuals born with a variety of disabilities but I noticed a good number acknowledged God. You can't help but smile when they talk about Him.

If Alonzo had normal intellect for his age, he'd be a lady killer. What a gorgeous man!
dec des great smile too.
A Gold Digger will not mind
Disgustingly sad
I'm sure Alfonso has had a few, shall we say, naughty encounters in his time.
I remember watching this when I was nine years old. This is one of the most unforgettable segments in 60 Minutes history.
Damn. Rachmaninoff is extremly hard to play I can say as a musician.
Just incredible all 3 of them.
Is that the song @ 12:58 on? If not do you know the name? Pls & thank you.
The name "Rachmaninoff" is hard to spell and pronounce, let alone..😄
@@onlyplayaseattacoswiththei9433 that's not Rachmaninoff it's Debussy soirée
His uses those flat/straight fingers though! My piano teachers always told me to have rounded fingers. Not criticizing at all - he’s a better musician than ill ever be
Patty J. Ayers same! But my piano teachers also told me to move on. Whomp whomp whomp.
He has beautiful eyes
Yes, and see the way they twinkle to reflect his happiness when he talks about his art. God bless him.
@Rasheed Lewis ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I stood up in my living room with applause for Leslie when he sang because I totally wasn't expecting that, It was wonderful.
The way the lady says "considering he's never had an art class in his life". Well, the person who started the very first art class did not attend art class.
Do not judge your health on how well adjusted you are to a profoundly sick society.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Comment of the year,Bravo😂😂😂😂👏👏
I went to art school & painted way before that. I went because I thought I would learn something new. I never needed training either.
to boot he replied to the interviewer plain ans simple when asked how he got hid talent... he pointed up and replied from God... we seem to forget EVERYTHING comes through the grace of God
i am sure she meant only to highlight how remarkable his talent is...if it was always expected that people who do not take an art class can be that great then this story would be an ordinary story
Alonzo has always had this gift. His gift was there at his conception.
Alonzo's eyes shine with pure joy! God Bless these Angels😇
God puts his gifts in strange beautiful vessels
What kind of bullshit is that?
@Edward Snowden how sickening you are.
Larry Fine I did let “GOD” into my life but I had to let him go. You see, he put a special gift into my uncles favourite antique urn. Basically he took a dump on my poor aunties ashes...that’s the last time I invite him to a Christmas party....
chris kelly As well as giving infants cancer. What a great guy.
Alpino Alpini thank you. I enjoyed your comment. I also refuse to capitalize anything associated with religion. It is crazy how much they hold onto their beliefs without a single shred of proof, when in fact the religions are so full of lies. I hope to see it end in my lifetime.
Absolutely fascinating. Thanks 🙏 for sharing this beautiful video with us.
Maybe they are closer to God than we all think.
Randy Schock perhaps we all are..
Was just wondering that myself.. all the comments bout alonzo being rain man, I'm looking at him and concluding he needs deliverance.. he reminds me of a possessed dude I saw on a court video on here..
its the next step in human evolution.
Benny TheKid oh yeah I saw that one before your right.

Ummm so they just sprung the voice on us at the end! He's a friggin musician!
The sculpter and the pianist were so emotive when they were doing their thing. Incredible
@Franz Kafka I think it means to generate emotion. Watching them do their thing really made me tear up! I like your version though
@Franz Kafka It better be a giant shoulder, for all my tears haha :)
Alonso was such a sweetheart he just melted my heart and how funny was the second man when he asked for the interviewers name again, having clearly just forgotten it yet remembers all of those amazing dates !
wow! Dustin Hoffman captured George perfectly for the movie Rain Man. Looks like him too.
He portrays a man called Kim Peek in the film rain man. He gave Kim the oscar he recieved!
Mozart had a talent like Leslie's. He was born with perfect pitch and could listen to a concerto or opera once, and could play the entire piece of music back, note for note. He was definitely a musical genius and savant of his time.
I know someone who can listen to a song once and play it back.
The guy who does the calendar dates reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in the movie "Rainman".
Dustin probably studied similar people to get his performance perfect.
If I remember correctly, the character of the Rain Man was partially based on George.
@@ElfGreatTree rain man was based on kim peak who has those same qualities
Picked up on that when he stated talking about the weather and his movements
So brilliant. Why are they not on stage they should be there for the world not just for scientific exploration. Truly remarkable.
His smile never lies, just beautiful to see a man who is being called "disabled" shine. Thanks YT for recommending this.
his talent was given to him, dont expect him to think of something as primitive as mathmatic's... he is beyong our mathmatics.
I dont expect ppl to understand this, but after I beat cancer, I too have a few intersting gifts.
I think the calendar man has worked out perfect formulae, not just the maths ones
I love watching things that defy modern science because the politics of modern science measures for definition and limitations of whats not possible , where as we the faithful look for possibilities beyond possibility because its there for all to see .
Legendary Director Woddy Allen makes an appearance in the second segment!! Awesome 😁
A really appreciate the way this interviewer treated these guys with respect
Leslie played that Debussy piece up until the tape stopped and then added another 8 bars of improv that blew my mind,i thought he might have just remembered hearing it before but I listened to the original piece "la soiree dans grenade" but its completely different..what an incredible human.
When he said "ill remember this day as long as I live".....he meant that shit! 😂

I literally bust out laughing at this comment!!
Maaaaan calendar boy is the spitting image of Rain Man. Did Dustin Hoffman model his character from George?
Nah, he was based on Kim peek, another savant who memorized over 100 thousand books and could memorize phone books in a matter of hours with 98% recall.

My first thought too. Dustin Hoffman!
I met a student in Odessa, TX who had this gift. Any date-he would tell you the day of the week that it corresponded to. Fantastic and intriguing ❤️
@@grabbity I'm finding articles that say George Finn did influence Dustin Hoffman's "Rainman" Raymond Babbit role. For whatever reasom Kim Peek became particularly cited and featured in TV documentaries instead of both of them. I have no idea why. Maybe George and/or his family didn't want too much publicity, Idk.
Totally useless super power.
2019 and I think it still amazing that people have this skills, the piano player had an amazing voice as well....😯
