      Michael Duran : ME! This is September 20, 2019 at 4:25 PM Central Time! This was such a wonderful piece. It makes me wonder how different the world would be if you took every savant and were able to open that part of the brain in EVERY HUMAN on Earth! WOW!!! My father is a genius and is also a musical savant. He can listen to any song (even from the wild 80’s!) and play back the guitar part of the song perfectly! He can play an electric guitar and a regular, non-electric guitar. He is a really smart guy who never really leaves the house (unless he was going to work...) and is not very social. He is now in his mid 60’s and can barely function because he became a severe alcoholic and hurt his brain. He has had three strokes and can barely move his body. He has been sober for about 8 years, right after his first stroke...

    Leslie's case in my opinion is the most fascinating. The piano is an extension of his mind, not an instrument he plays. Clearly, for him, playing the piano is just as fundamental as walking or breathing is to the rest of us. It's effortless, he doesn't even think about which keys produce which notes, there is virtually nothing separating his mind from the piano he's playing.

    • @ReginaDillard
      @ReginaDillard 5 лет назад +2

      I cried watching this...For me it's just about appreciating the Might and mercy of the Creator..even though these people are savants, they have some genius abilities. Everyone and also every animal has some special faculties. From where ? ? ...God is one, He is not Christian, Muslim, Jew or Hindu God. He is the Creator, Father of all living beings. Like the Sun is one but in every language there's a different name for it. Similarly God is one but different religions call Him by a different name.
      Here is a verse from the Bhagavat Gita.
      God speaks about Himself in the Bhagavat Gita, the Bible of the east. See vedabase.io/en/library/bg/15/15/
      Best regards.

      Steven Ryburn I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the savior of all. But...if I wasn’t aware of that previously, it would be greatly evident to me through Alonzo saying God made him smart. Scientists say they don’t know how it’s possible, but strangely they fail to consider the opinion of the individual experiencing said “phenomenon”.
      When the pianist’s mother was speaking, she mentioned that the compartment of the brain that produces music was separate from the rest of his brain that was damaged, so he could, quote, “Have some sort of talent. And he got it!”. I find it extremely difficult to believe that is by coincidence and not designed by a loving, merciful God that brought good out of a debilitating condition presented to the world through original sin. The simplest of answers, “God made me smart.”, from Alonzo, along with the mother’s testimony about her son’s ability to play the piano, are both profound in their explanation to the “unexplainable”. Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life...no one comes to the Father but by Him. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

    • @HajiStaxGaming
      @HajiStaxGaming 5 лет назад +3

      Steven Ryburn My pleasure! That comment, “God uses broken vessels.”, is absolutely incredible. That should hit every hard on a deep and personal level. We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God. That’s why we need Jesus. I, too, had a huge problem with addiction, as well as, gang activity, selling drugs, making self glorifying music, having sex with countless women...and God saved me. He reached out and showed me, when I thought nobody could save me from my wretched flesh, that He could through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. I’m sorry you’re very sick, and have been dealing with such addiction. I’m glad you’re seeing that the Lord can do all things. He works all things for good for those that love Him. I praise God every day that He saved me, and I beg Him to hold His hand on me and keep me by not allowing me to fall away from Him. I pray every day that He saves me. Our walk with Christ is ever progressive and as long as we keep faith in and glorify God, then we’re always on the right track.
      Stay positive, as God is using you for something great!
      In the Bible, Stephen is stoned to death and asks God not to lay that sin to their charge...present at the death of Stephen was Saul (later to become Paul). God uses us even in our final breathe, and many times we don’t see who God has touched through us. The Bible, also, states that in the end times all things will be revealed...and we will FINALLY get to understand and comprehend more what the absolute Greatness of God really is. Keep praying to God in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and stay strong my brother.

    Maaaaan calendar boy is the spitting image of Rain Man. Did Dustin Hoffman model his character from George?

      Nah, he was based on Kim peek, another savant who memorized over 100 thousand books and could memorize phone books in a matter of hours with 98% recall.

      I met a student in Odessa, TX who had this gift. Any date-he would tell you the day of the week that it corresponded to. Fantastic and intriguing ❤️

      @@grabbity I'm finding articles that say George Finn did influence Dustin Hoffman's "Rainman" Raymond Babbit role. For whatever reasom Kim Peek became particularly cited and featured in TV documentaries instead of both of them. I have no idea why. Maybe George and/or his family didn't want too much publicity, Idk.

    The sculptor... has a face that is calming and familiar , but that I had never seen...what if, somehow in the chaos of what has happened to each one, there was a space, that could have been accessed by , some unknown ,higher, source. Looking for a wonderful, space, to place a gift?

    My daughter 6 years old now was diagnosed high functioning autistic...needs Pt,OT, speech and a one on one personal aide to keep her in line...well when she was just 1 year old she would dance from one genre to the next...songs she had never heard before but just a couple notes and she was rocking out like she’s heard it a dozen times...now 6 she still does this! It’s crazy...it’s almost like she zones out and I truly feel she can’t control herself if any kind of music is being played!!!
