    As an R7 Mako owner, it needs to be said, this is not a micro 9 like many reviewers like to say. It's a subcompact and it's not even small compared to other subcompacts like the Glock 26. It's closer to an XD Subcompact. So get it if you want the best striker fired trigger on the market, but know it's a big fish.

      Your comment surprised me at first, because it's only 1oz heavier and less than a quarter-inch longer than the P365, but looked it up and saw that part of the grip is 1.2" thick. That's much closer to a 2011 (with a huge fat .45-width mag) than a P365!

      I got rid of mine of mine like a fool! Has likely the very best trigger I’ve ever experienced on a striker fired weapons. Piss on their 1911s. Most aren’t reliable. I was a fool and dumped my kS6 again about the best of any revolver I’ve experienced

      I’m sorry but the website handgun hero says the G26 is bigger. I’ve never held or even seen the Mako in person but it’s hard to believe any micro pistol is thicker than a G26. Most sub compacts are more slim compared to the G26 Lol.

    Love my R7 Mako!
    But I wish they had the rail on mine that they have on this. My R7 it’s so cool I call it the “hot rod” because it’s almost like it’s been customized with texture, a great trigger, extreme accuracy, and the ability to handle high quality optics, which as much as I love Glock 26’s , this is like they took one of those and fixed everything and truly made it perfection.

    It is a Wilhelm Bubits design. He is the European Fred Craig. An under appreciated genius.

      @2fargonedaytona128 3 месяца назад +1

      Might piss folks off (I’m a pretty big Glock fan) I truly believe Bubits was more than likely the man behind the scenes at Glock! Gaston might have had brains and some cash but he was making fucking plastic curtains rods! Wilhelm likely is true Glock mastermind! Huge Ak guy too and could see Mikhail getting credit for a design of a primarily German masterminded build. Kalash was tank dude and vodka guy appropriate to use him as national hero poster boy,

    @texasrex2222 3 месяца назад +5

    The ejection out of the side, instead of being open on the top, also ensures that brass wont impact your optic. Not likely to ever be an issue, and not likely to cause damage, but still a nice thing they considered. Not something I’d buy for myself, but the more reliable guns on the market available for people, the better.

  • @jessesando8582
    @jessesando8582 3 месяца назад +12

    The R7 has been underrated since its release. If they could have made the pricepoint more inline with the P365, i think it could have been a contender.
    Ergos are great, texture is amazing, trigger phenomenal, controls are fully ambi, and the sights are factory night sights AND 1/3 cowitness... Honestly, i had no complaints other than that they were the most expensive option.
    If you havent shot or even handled on- try it. You will be pleasantly surprised.

    I got the base model R7 Mako from rural king 471 out the door was less than the 540 l payed for my SIG P365 9mm out the door plus put a Grayguns fishscale grip module so add that to the price of the SIG P365 makes getting a base R7 Mako for 480 dollars or less out the door is a pretty good deal the grip texture on the R7 is perfect and so is the Stoeger STR-9mc out of the box better than a stock P365 or Canik MC9 in my opinion replace the P365s grip module to a Grayguns and silicone carbide Canik MC9s grip with a fine grit

    I've handled an R7 several months ago. Unfortunately not one of the half dozen gun stores in my area has a range for customers to try a pistol before buying. It looked like very high quality, and the texturing and ergonomics were just fine for me. I found the trigger and controls to be good. Thr price was decent as well. I absolutely liked everything about it. I would have purchased it on the spot, but past Kimber small pistols usually had issues I've heard. For now I'm hoping that Springfield announces a Glock 19 size Echelon model in the near future. I'd buy that for certain.

      **had a friend that had a Kimber 1911 officer model, that was an expensive piece of crap, every time we went to the range it jammed, sometimes so bad that he had to disassemble the gun.
      **I worked church security with him and the first thing I would have done if we would have gotten in a situation was hand him my second piece.
      **Seen nothing but good reviews about the Mako and their revolvers, and I admit I want both.
      **would also like to see them make a model that's got a full grip, rather than this magazine sleeve bastardization.
      **Tack pack, with light, red Dot and holster that fits the light would be awesome.

      The R7 had some recalls in the early days of it's release, but from what I gather, those have all been dealt with. Mine has never had a single issue and has been nothing but absolutely reliable. And mine isn't a safe dweller. I carry it with me nearly every day.

      @jakethebard ...thanks for the update. That's great to hear. I may still get one eventually. Right now I'm extremely interested in the new KAHR double stack pistol that's going to be shown at the next ShotShow. It's a reality now, after a long rumored wait. There's only one video of a pre production gun in a RUclips video just from two days ago. Also an official statement from KAHR about a bunch of new guns for 2024. I like KAHRS a lot, and I've put off buying several guns, since I heard months ago that this was really coming out. I think it's called the X9. I've always loved that KAHR trigger, it's like a very well tuned revolver trigger.

    • @user-rn9sb8wu4h
      @user-rn9sb8wu4h 3 месяца назад +1

      @kirkchartier7141 ...yeah, that truly is a shame, because as gorgeous as some KIMBER 1911s were, lots of people apparently got shafted buying one. Many of them were knowledgeable 1911 users, that had tried everything possible to make their guns reliable, to no avail.

      @@user-rn9sb8wu4h I'll have to check that out. I really love the trigger in my Mako. Sootch wasn't exaggerating when he said the trigger is really great in it. Presumably, It has no external safety other than those aggravating trigger blades, just like a glock. Many with an over inflated ego will now start bragging and boasting that they are so well trained and proficient with a handgun that they do not need or require a safety. For the rest of us who live in the stark world of reality, the addition of a safety would have been a much desired feature to incorporate into this firearm. I (among many many others) prefer the versatility of having the option of a safety on a conceal carry handgun. This poly Kimber is a beautiful and well thought out firearm, if it incorporated an external safety i'd purchase at least two of them right away. But, for now at least, don't believe i want one. The armchair tactical experts can now proceed to rake me over the proverbial coals because i'm too incompetent(even though i've been a police officer for the last 26 years and was in the military prior to that) to want to own a handgun without a safety. Proceed gentlemen!

    I haven't been able to get the Sportsmans Guide discount code to work since Jan 1. Has anyone else been having the same issue?

    I own this gun without the threaded barrel which I think is unnecessary better trigger than a hellcat now the 15 round mag makes it money I can’t believe Kimber won’t sell that 15 round mag to Illinois had to get it from another site

    When I saw the thumbnail I thought I was looking at a new Hi Point. A tactical CCW pistol makes little sense?
