My father and I wanted to walk through Lichtenstein, from Feldkirch to the swiss border. So my mother drove the car to the border and we literally ran through the whole country...
Now for the story, Switzerland invaded Liechtenstein during an exercise that was taking place at night at the border, the leader of the troops had for assignment to arrest the police officer from the village and declare it free, except that this exercise would have happened in Switzerland but due to an error of the driver that couldn't see where he was driving, entered Liechtenstein and drove to the first village he saw, thus occupying momentarily a part of Liechtenstein
Rick K well the fact that they technically invaded a country for a military practice is just... Wow for me (just think about it, they r doing military practice by invading another country), and they even do it twice? just lol :v
Raymond Castillio we have a militia, so the soldiers come from the population, sometimes they make mistakes so that's why Liechtenstein keeps it cool with us, the training was not about invading a country, but freeing it from another army that invaded us, the frontier with our little friend plays well the role of a frontline so that's why the chose there to train. Switzerland has no aim really at invading Liechtenstein, since we already share a lot in common

MR. X Aspidis Lenin hid in Finland when he wasn’t allowed to be in Russia, it’s one of the reasons he ”gave” Finland independence without a war or anything!
Lenin was in Finland because he was from a wealthy and rabin family. The real hardcore was in Siberia, but they negotiated a holiday in Finland.Bloody bastard, venal!
The team should really go back and do some of the earlier countries like Australia and Argentina that had a pretty basic episode compared to the more comprehensive videos we get now
My father (and half of my family) is from the Netherlands, and they’re all just as direct and abrupt as you’d expect. Family gatherings are always fun........
I finally fulfilled a childhood dream and visited Liechtenstein this summer. I was not disappointed! An absolutely beautiful country. I would love to live there.
I hate the missuse of that quote so much. When it got it's name it was an Empire and it was Roman (as in, it controlled Rome via controlling the Pope). Whether it was Holy depends on your defintion but the Emperor was seen as the highest authority on Earth in worldy matters, while the Pope was the highest authority in spiritual matters. In other words, if you were a Christian, no matter if you were a farmer in Spain or the King of England, the Emperor was your superior. (If that was universally accepted is a different matter, but Richard Lionheart for example learned the hard way that you do not disrespect the Emperor). The Voltaire quote you are butchering described the HRE in it's state after the 30 Years War, when it was a shadow of it's former glory. Yet people use this god damn quote like it applies to the entirety of it's existence. Which makes about as much sense as calling the Ottoman Empire Europe's sick man, while under Suleiman the Magnificent's rule. There is a reason that designation is only used for the Ottoman Empire of the 19th/20th century. The same should be done with the HRE, which at it's peak, was the dominant power in Europe, economically, politically and by military might. But I guess it's easier to parrot out Voltaire every time the HRE is mentioned. And yes, I am "triggered".
4:54 I mean, to be fair, kids set up lemonade stands in their front yards, so it's pretty safe to say that they see business as their first option to begin with.
I apparently have been waiting for this one. One day washing dishes I randomly blurted out “ stay tuned Liechtenstein is next”. I don’t know what to expect but I’m actually kinda... excited, thanks.
That was interesting. Geography Now has helped me see the world and different histories of people in a way that I apparently didn’t recognize I wasn’t doing. Listening to someone explain, reputably, the existence of someone else and taking it on face value without having the negative ideas I may have rode in on the front half. Good video as always. Can we do planets next?
Hi Barbs and everyone, you guys really make geography exciting, fun, and interesting! I first watched on this episode, Little Liechtenstein as you so perfectly put it. I was impressed, so much in fact that I decided to see what you did with a country I knew a thing or two about, Ghana. Again I was delighted with your presentation, that was it, I was hooked. I went back to Afghanistan and did a marathon viewing session, literally using every moment of spare time until I had seen every single episode to date, I even have viewed every single item under every header on the Geography Now site. I am now chomping at the bits for the next installment. This brings me to my reason for contacting you. I am 62, and all the way back in fourth grade I have had an obsession with maps and what is over the next mountain. I have been collecting maps ever since. I have been to only three countries besides the U. S., Canada, Mexico, and the U. K. in particular Scotland. Yet my love for geography has always been there and your show brings to light a new, exciting way for anyone to learn. I have been downsizing and one of the things I have been hesitating on passing on to somebody is all of my maps, specifically the National Geographic ones, I have some going all the way back to the 1930s! There are broken down by continent, then alphabetical with some special categories as well, the world, sea floors etc. Is this something you would be interested in? Please let me know if you are, I want no money for them, although I wouldn't say no to Large Tshirt!😉, and can ship them wherever you would like. There are very few non-National Geographic maps in the mix yet I will include these too if you would like. I look forward to hearing from you.
I thought about creating a video about Liechtenstein too. But this video is so awesome I would never ever would be able to create it nearly as good as you did. Thank you so much for talking about the country where I live. 🤗👍
The castle at 2:18 is just honestly amazing (it seems I have to go the Czech Republic), if I'd been Liechtenstein I would have accepted the castles anyway and without any hesitation. This one at the very least is one of those that fit aesthetical sense the most in Europe.
Drove to Liechtenstein from Lucerne just last week when on vacation. Amazing countries, Switzerland and Liechtenstein! Larger than it appears, lots to see and do. Views are amazing, especially up the mountains in Triesenberg. Filled to the brim with tourists and tourist buses though :)
Lichtenstein is so tiny you really have to zoom quite far in on google earth to see it. Vaduz looks like a tiny one-road mountain village full of tourist traps that we have tons of in Norway, and Norway is considered a small country in the world.
6:43 - LMAO!!! This is so spot on - especially the last one XDDD This gave me a good laugh to cheer up what has otherwise been a pretty dull night shift. So thank you! :) You didn't include the possible reactions from the Netherlands or Dutch-speaking Belgium, but, in the cast of the Netherlands, at least, I'm inclined to think they'd be on the blunt side, like Germany.
Kinda depents which part of the Netherlands. The closer you get to Belgium, the more polite (or back handed) people are. Further north, people will say what they think and won't spare your feelings xD
Heeeeeeere we go! The one, the only, LIECHTENSTEIN! Enjoy!

The most awesome thing about all of Barby videos is he always tries to get the pronunciations of all the different words from different countries and cultures right. At first, I was like how can Geography be interesting?? And now its soo cool to me! Barby you rock! Keep making awesome videos!
Still Stronger than north korea, love from finland!
Vladimir Lenin
Lenin in Finland ? ))
Greetings from latvian russian !
MR. X Aspidis Lenin hid in Finland when he wasn’t allowed to be in Russia, it’s one of the reasons he ”gave” Finland independence without a war or anything!
Tuhkasirius yeah we finns are so nice aren't we?:D
Perkele!
Lenin was in Finland because he was from a wealthy and rabin family. The real hardcore was in Siberia, but they negotiated a holiday in Finland.Bloody bastard, venal!
Australia video 10 minutes 6th biggest country
Liechtenstein video 12 minutes 6th smallest country
🤔🤔🤔
it goes by importance
it has changed bit on these videos since Australia
"6th"
The team should really go back and do some of the earlier countries like Australia and Argentina that had a pretty basic episode compared to the more comprehensive videos we get now

"You got fat" lol, if you think Germans are direct, become friends with a Dutch person
XD from my experience i think that they are both the same direct
Dutch: “You got fat... and ugly”
My father (and half of my family) is from the Netherlands, and they’re all just as direct and abrupt as you’d expect. Family gatherings are always fun........
Mattijn In my experience most Germans are more polite than Dutch. But it probably depends on where in Germany you go and if they are drunk or not.
As a Dutch person I can affirm this statement.
6:50 so I am german and I’ll have to be honest, this is very accurate!
I have a liechtenstein stamp 🇱🇮 what a beautiful country
Honestly, I miss this kind of setup where it’s only Barbs hosting and maybe a cameo of some of his friends.
-LIECHTENSTEIN- *TAX HAVEN*
Puglosipher ah no but it's a "good" taxen haven
Yeah, that's true. I myself pay 4% haha

I finally fulfilled a childhood dream and visited Liechtenstein this summer. I was not disappointed! An absolutely beautiful country. I would love to live there.

The Holy Roman Empire
which wasn't an Empire
wasn't Roman
Wasn't Holy
and Wasn't The
I hate the missuse of that quote so much.
BuddhaKekz good explanation
Looks like someone watched Crash Course :)
Voltaire called, he wants his joke back
i did watched Crash Course
but iv'e learned it from my History Teacher in High School
That thumbnail though...
4:54 I mean, to be fair, kids set up lemonade stands in their front yards, so it's pretty safe to say that they see business as their first option to begin with.
As a Kitittian, that jab at St.Kitts was too perfect.
Hey another Kittitian!
I am in Liechtenstein right now 🤗 in so expensive must say
Are you enjoying it?
Because is a land lock 🔐 and very small
@@Usmansow01 It is double land locked :D
Lunaia 101 I was there in June. It was pretty nice even though it is super small!

The Football Team even plays in Swiss League btw.
Finally! Lithuania episode is next! I’ve been waiting more than 1,5 years for it
as ir haha
yeah but he covered Estonia, which is i'd assume pretty much the same as Lithuania and Latvia
haha... noooope
Islam is a mental illness Not even close mate
Me too! My grandmother is from Lithuania, Marijona Sakalauskas. I'm so proud of this heritage
Wasn't really looking forward to this, but after watching this I have to say: what a weird but interesting country.
0:08 I can listen to him say “little Liechtenstein” for 100 hours
I LOVE Liechtenstein! So much so that I took a 500km detour just to spend a day there when Interrailing in Europe last summer.
Filippo Soraperra Maybe because you are too poor to visit us
@@LunarPenguin42 also des findi jetzt trurig :o
I thought about creating a video about Liechtenstein too. But this video is so awesome I would never ever would be able to create it nearly as good as you did. Thank you so much for talking about the country where I live. 🤗👍

Ohhhh mann
What the animation!! Or VFX or whatever it's called
Claps for the maker

Now i'm waiting for Luxembourg
Was in Austria last year and we decided to visit Liechtenstein too!!! It is so beautiful!! Was in Vaduz, visited (hiked to) the castle .
Yeah ,finally "Little Liechtenstein"!)
I am still waiting for video about my father's homeland: Lithuania
MR. X Aspidis same here
Lithuania is the next country he is doing
Oh, where do you live now ?
Phil Savitt

I am living in Riga , Latvia
The castle at 2:18 is just honestly amazing (it seems I have to go the Czech Republic), if I'd been Liechtenstein I would have accepted the castles anyway and without any hesitation. This one at the very least is one of those that fit aesthetical sense the most in Europe.
They came back with negative casualties, they came back with a friend 🤣🤣🤣 I died.
I'm from Lucerne, glad you enjoyed it!
The Parliament of Liechtenstein has 25 seats........okaaaayyyyy.😂
The lack of Luxembourg references is a bit disappointing

OK so far it seems like Bhutan and Liechtenstein are the best countries in the world.
Kat, I agree
absolutey, finland seems good too
Nah, North Korea
bhutan lack of technology don't sit well with me
Afif Brian Who says Bhutan has no technology?
Lichtenstein is so tiny you really have to zoom quite far in on google earth to see it. Vaduz looks like a tiny one-road mountain village full of tourist traps that we have tons of in Norway, and Norway is considered a small country in the world.
This is literally the one that I always wanted to see made
Intamin amusement rides is a Liechtenstein based company that’s one of the biggest roller coaster companies in the world
Germany: YOU GOT FAT. omg I laughed my ass off this is so true though XD

I want you to reuse or re-act that scene for the Singapore episode for the part where they split from Malaysia.
Love lichtenstein from germany 🇱🇮❤🇩🇪
6:43 - LMAO!!! This is so spot on - especially the last one XDDD
This gave me a good laugh to cheer up what has otherwise been a pretty dull night shift. So thank you! :)
You didn't include the possible reactions from the Netherlands or Dutch-speaking Belgium, but, in the cast of the Netherlands, at least, I'm inclined to think they'd be on the blunt side, like Germany.
Kinda depents which part of the Netherlands. The closer you get to Belgium, the more polite (or back handed) people are. Further north, people will say what they think and won't spare your feelings xD
