I have always wondered what sense it makes in expedition tents, the design of the tent which forces the assembly of the bedroom first. After all, if it snows or it rains, everything will be wet inside. In my opinion, a better option is a rack outside
Stronger design. What you might lose in keeping a bit of dampness at bay for the first couple of hours after pitching, you gain in a tent that can take more brutal wind conditions for the six, eight, maybe ten hours or more you'll be in there 👍
@@RebelRDX You can build tents where the inner is connect to the outer tent. And have you ever I mean EVER pitch up your tent in rain? How do you get rid all the water in the tent? And in high end price range, there could be a solution, but why should it be? Never stop a running system. No place for invention
@@DieTabbi I've pitched in rain, in wind, in snow, in mountains, in whiteouts, on glaciers, on ridges, on ledges, tied in... in bus shelters on 2 occasions! You can certainly connect inners to outers, but most of the time it's not as strong. A dry tent won't be dry for very long if it can't withstand up to 16 hours of use in strong winds (UK in winter, dark at 4pm light at 8am) - That's an extreme example, but still a very real possibility. Some of the strongest tents in the world (with crossover poles, not tunnel) are inner first. It's for good reason. MH Trango, TN Quasar, TNF Mountain 25 etc. Exception would be an H'Berg Jannu... with its 500 guylines 😁 Of its rainy and not windy you can make do and use the fly as shelter, if its rainy and windy, any wet inner dries out within a few short hours regardless. Just in my experience.
Hi Looks like is nice tent. Lives in Greenland and need a tent that functions well in snow, wind, rain and warmer summer weather with many mosquitoes and is not too heavy. Thinking of using it as a person's hiking tent with plenty of space. I am 2 meters (6 Feet, 6 Inches) tall. Do you think it is long enough for me and is vestibule large enough that you can safely cook in it in bad weather And when Can I buy it Again Hope you can help
This version answers almost all of the requirements I have for a tent, except colour - bright orange is not very stealthy... Will there be a green version in the future?
Hi Chris, while the Kunai can be used for three season camping, it is also designed for mountaineering. The orange color helps the user find their tent in severe, white-out conditions. You'll also notice our other mountaineering tents use orange as well.
@@NEMOEquipmentInc I completely understand the need for the orange colour, but from my point of view I enjoy being cool when it's warm, and at the same time I like being able to be warm when it's more two/three season weather. This tent is able to provide that, but I don't do any snowy mountaineering so the orange is superfluous to my needs. Hence a colour choice would be nice. Didn't mean anything negative in my comment :)
The footprint of the shelter measures 50" in width at the head of the tent and tapers to a 42" width at the foot of the shelter, so two 20" pads will fit inside.
@@NEMOEquipmentInc As an owner of this tent, it would be great if it was slightly longer. Definitely a once person tent if you are 6'5" and that is squeezing me in diagonally :-D Would also be great if you had suggestions on guyline placement in the instructions for high wind situations. I mean there are so many tie out locations on the tent, but only 4 guylines included. Which provide the best rigidity in high wind situations or when heavy snow load is incoming?
I just bought a Kunai like 4 months ago (though I've used it half a dozen times already) and here comes the new model with the cool side zip mesh. Ugh.

Really want one
Hi Nemo, can it be pitched free standing?
Hi there, yes it can! However, we do recommend utilizing all stake-out points for security and getting the most interior space of the shelter.
The rainfly is only 1200 mm of water resistance and the floor 3000 mm, has someone tested the waterproof during multiple wet/rainy days?
