There's a reason the British Army isn't called "The Royal Army", unlike the other branches of Britain's military such as The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force (RAF). That's because the modern British Army is descended from Parliamentarian's New Model Army which at the time of its creation did not acknowledge the authority of the king.
Moreover, the Bill of Rights in 1689, which carried over some of the principles of the civil wars, meant that only Parliament could sanction the continued existence of the army. Hence an Armed Forces Act needing to be passed every 5 years, otherwise a standing army would be illegal in Britain.

Regarding Redcoats: Far from being the cheapest, red (from a particular type of snail) and purple (from a particular type of sea shells) have consistently been the most expensive type of dye, before chemical engineering became available. As such, the Romans (and the Byzantines) used red and purple to signal nobility. A red Toga for a Roman senator would take more than 30,000 snails, and a few months’ effort to dye. The British Empire used red for the same reason - to show off the prestige of the empire. It will feature it. The Rump Parliament was essentially a military coup, exceeding the mandate of the Parliament it purged, and by executing Charles I, made his son an acceptable alternative as king.
The parliamentary army was never called The new model army , the term first appeared in the 18th century by historian Carlyle. Originates from the 're modeling of the parliamentary army , Which was down to Fairfax and not Cromwell, as many believe. Fairfax was commander in chief, Cromwell was apponted commander of the newly re formed cavalry by Thomas Fairfax . He separated the dragoons from the cavalry and made them a separate unit, without resorting to Google i can't remember the name of the guy off the top of my head who was given command of the dragoons, pike comes to mind but im pretty sure its not that. Fairfax reforms included trimming down commanders, he claimed he had too many, older guys he paid off , others he persuaded to take lower ranks , Fairfax led the army to victory at Naseby, even though many give credit to Cromwell, Just like most people wrongly believe Cromwell modernised the parliamentary army. It wasn't Cromwell, or Essex or Manchester, It was Fairfax,. Cromwell was a wa#### Fairfax was ahead of his time, anyone interested in the English civil wars should read about Fairfax. Essex and Manchester, phut,, Cromwell, an extremist and a hypocrite. Fairfax appointed Cromwell leader of his cavalry because he was a good soldier, But as a man Fairfax hated his extremist views . He fought for a parliament, he was a moderate, Presbyterian, He could've taken power , but he wasn't a power mad extremist hypocrite. And that's why he retired sad ,disillusioned , sad for the soldiers who fought for something different, for a parliament who would consider the lower classes. and ended up replacing one king for another, a tyrant much worse than the one Cromwell killed.
Why didn't the Royal cavalry push off the advanced parliamentarian cavalry from the Royalist right? I think it would be safer to push them off, return to their lines, and then continue the battle in whatever way they preferred. They would be vulnerable while breaking off the fight to avoid getting into range for a charge from parliamentarian cavalry, but couldn't they do a fighting retreat or get help from their infantry? A charge from the parliamentarian infantry will take time to reach them. A charge from the parliamentarian left-side cavalry could be stopped by more infantry from the center. Why did they do a full charge?

Is their a moment when royalist horses do press their advantage
The parliamentary army was never called
The new model army , the term first appeared in the 18th century by historian Carlyle.
Originates from the 're modeling of the parliamentary army ,
Which was down to Fairfax and not Cromwell, as many believe.
Fairfax was commander in chief,
Cromwell was apponted commander of the newly re formed cavalry by Thomas Fairfax .
He separated the dragoons from the cavalry and made them a separate unit, without resorting to Google i can't remember the name of the guy off the top of my head who was given command of the dragoons, pike comes to mind but im pretty sure its not that.
Fairfax reforms included trimming down commanders, he claimed he had too many, older guys he paid off , others he persuaded to take lower ranks ,
Fairfax led the army to victory at Naseby, even though many give credit to Cromwell,
Just like most people wrongly believe Cromwell modernised the parliamentary army.
It wasn't Cromwell, or Essex or Manchester,
It was Fairfax,.
Cromwell was a wa####
Fairfax was ahead of his time, anyone interested in the English civil wars should read about Fairfax.
Essex and Manchester, phut,,
Cromwell, an extremist and a hypocrite.
Fairfax appointed Cromwell leader of his cavalry because he was a good soldier,
But as a man Fairfax hated his extremist views .
He fought for a parliament, he was a moderate, Presbyterian,
He could've taken power , but he wasn't a power mad extremist hypocrite.
Why would you use the painting showing Battle of Kircholm in the thumbnail if the video's about Naseby?
