Hi :) I've been thinking about doing a little "making-of" video - I'm still figuring things out! I think the most important thing for me is filming VERY deliberately. I only film small parts of what I paint, ignoring most of my day, so I don't have endless footage to go through, and pick what a video will be about in advance... and then go with the flow from there! We'll see if I actually manage to draw AND film all of it though!
Strangely enough, I was drawing a mountainside while watching this video. When you went hiking near the end, I paused at 20:06 to reference some of the foliage. Thanks for the help!!

(like "girl, come on, that's freaking gorgeous). You inspire me so much. I know I have a long way to go to be even close to your level but I work on my art every day. Thank you for putting videos out there for people like me that have a slightly different taste in art then what is usually pushed out on social media.
Oh, I'm so happy someone spotted that graphite portrait at 7:01 - that's one of the very first I drew as part of my Dracula art, and still a favorite of mine. ❤ There will be more of these dark graphite illustrations as part of this month's drawings, too! Thank you so much for the kind comment - I'm happy if I can inspire or motivate someone, especially since my whole reason for this art channel was that I felt stuck and direction-less in my art. So I hope it just naturally evolves from here and we can all practice together.
Love the color palette that you chose for your paintings, especially the bigger painting at 12:45! Looking forward to the finished piece. By the way, would it be feasable for you to use a battery adapter for your camera? It can get in the way because it will mean having a cable dangle out of your camera. Also you can no longer close the battery compartment of your camera, which might affect the way you can mount it, but it will mean no longer having to charge batteries or perhaps running out of battery life during filming. I'm using one for my camera when filming for RUclips.
Hi! Thank you - that bigger painting is getting out of hand as we speak, I'm detailing way too much haha. The limited color palette helps to control myself a bit! I've actually been thinking about that. I have one extra battery so I can charge and switch them pretty seamlessly, and my cat is VERY tempted by dangling cables of all kinds, so I'm a bit worried about my camera getting turned into a cat toy. The other day he tried to fight the fuzzy microphone attached to it 😂 It's on my list of things that would be useful but need to be cat-proofed first haha.
So cool to see the different mediums you incorporate into the same drawings :) I'm doing a don't-stress-about-it inktober... So far I've done october 2, and plan to do one tonight. I've got a bunch of photos from the internet of cool houses and trailers, and my fountain pens to keep it very simple
That sounds like a healthy approach! I'm pretty open to mine fizzling towards the end, I just want to finish all my planned Dracula illustrations. :) Already editing all the remaining footage today put me behind schedule haha I LOVE house drawings, I hope you have fun with them!
Oh Evy!!! This video was delightfully sublime. I enjoyed every single minute of it and already can’t wait to watch it again. You are such a master artist, your work consistently takes my breath away. I loved how you said you finished your day 1 illustration and you were going to sketch something simple - and then you went and created that incredible illustration of the many characters, colorful windows and beautiful expressions. Will you sell a print of that one? It really spoke to me at a deep level. And then you went and created that beautiful face on the Korean calligraphy paper 😍 just amazing!! I will happily watch you grind ink and paint these cozy videos until the end of time 🫶🏼
Also missed saying that there were so many moments that made me smile in this one. From the mention of Dracula in a straw hat to the sad smile when you dropped an ink dot - you are just so cute! I would love to learn about your favorite art supplies, all the brushes you use, paint etc (unless you’ve covered that in another video)
Aaah this comment put such a smile on my face - because grinding ink forever is exactly what it feels like I'm doing! And that illustration with all the windows and characters assembled has been floating in my mind since forever... so I'm all the happier if you like it, too! I haven't decided on prints for that particular on yet, but it's for sure a double-spread in the zine! I can't wait to paint and film (and edit lol) more of these ❤️ thank you so much!

It's been years since I did Inktober (did it three times successfully and then decided a dedicated monthly challenge just wasn't for me) but I love the direction you're taking yours. Excited to see this unfold! Love the drawings you showed in this video - the Mina one might be my favourite though I couldn't say why. Something about the vibe captured there, perhaps?

Thank you! Ink is a pretty cheap material to get started with and at least the ink sticks last forever (had mine since 2016) - but black watercolor or gouache would work, too! :) I hope you find a material that you enjoy.
Oh yeah, that's a completely different time period! I think the scanning/editing will fit perfectly in my next Inktober art vlog, and I might go into book layout as well. :)
I looove the planning that goes into your paintings ❤ it inspires me to make more effort with my art, the only other time I felt a similar thing was when visiting van goghs museum and seeing how many times he tried painting the same thing until it looked right. It’s awesome and helps me beat that fear of making bad art at first try 😅
Oh, thank you! I had a similar experience with Monet and his endless iterations of water lilies - so much depth can be found in obsession 😊 It can feel slow, but I've found that the actual painting process goes so much smoother if I've prepared for it, and I don't abandon paintings like I often did in the past. ❤️
@@evydraws-art I get it yeah! 💕 And many times I feel frustrated because I want to express something but know it won't turn out the way I want, but knowing I can redo it as many times as I want is really encouraging , like hey guess what I have free will 🤣 the world won't end if it doesn't turn out perfect at first try
Guess what I have free will... that's now stuck in my head 😂 As a perfectionist, learning to actually just finish something and move on to the next painting instead of giving up half-way because it wasn't "good enough" was a hard lesson haha.

I really love the limited color style I might try it shame I don't have inks I've always wanted to paint gray scale / black and white pieces
