Ah, the zine is ready! Woohoo! This must be such a great and rewarding moment for you! Congrats on finishing everything! It was super interesting to hear about the changes you made based on the test print. And your thoughts on the Arches and Fabriano papers mirror my own preferences. I remember that we talked about using flat brushes with Gouache a while ago and I was very happy to hear that you enjoy using them with Gouache. Can't wait to see what you will work on next! (The skin tones in the Beren and Luthien painting already look soooo good!)
Woohoo indeed! My voice-over sounds so calm, but while actually receiving them from the printer, I was beyond excited! :) It feels great to have a personal book like this, and even better to have them travel around the world! The test prints were SO worth it - it really helps to see something printed to make adjustments. And I'm glad I'm not alone with that brand back-and-forth. They're both high quality papers, but personal preferences are important. I remembered that gouache talk when I picked that flat brush at the art shop! It's such a game changer, I can't wait to use it for some landscape sketches, too! (and... I painted some Beren and Luthien today! Thank you for the encouragement, I'm a bit worried about this one haha)
thank you so much for your videos and creations, it really brings peace and clears my mind, and as someone who is only at the begining of journey in art it's really inspiring and fascinating to look at what you do, like my mind literally sometimes can't understand how you came up with the ideas&ways to realize them. also you have such a beautiful voice, i think i could listen to you for hours even if you'd read grocery list. hope you have a great time 💗🙏🏻
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I hope I can show a lot of my painting processes - and thought process! - in the future. It feels wonderful to hear that it can inspire someone else, too. 💗 And thank you for mentioning the voice-over, I'm slowly getting more comfortable talking in English. Grocery list audiobook coming soon! :)
Beautiful! 🌻🌻And such a clever parallel to have all the drawings as seen through windows/glass, like the book which is seen only through the lens of letters. 💌🪟📚 Congratulations! 🥳✨
Thank you, and I'm so happy you noticed that parallel! We really only get these glimpses into the characters' lives though their letters and journals, so I loved windows as a constraint and framing device. 🥰
Evy! You’re Swiss, now I understand why I like your videos so much and your choice of music 😍. I’m an artist myself living in Germany, but originally from South America. I love the topics you chose for these series bc I also love Bram Stocker‘s Dracula. Thank you for sharing🙏🎨🖋️
Thank you - and yes, I am! And from the German dialect speaking part of Switzerland, really close to the border - so maybe you're hearing a familiar accent and overall mood 🥰 And yes, Bram Stoker's Dracula is timeless and I love the Dracula Daily newsletters each year, too~
I used to be fascinated by greek mythology ! I might as well add this theme to my neverending list of illustration projects. Q: how much time do you spend on a complex painting, like those Dracula acrylic ones ?
It's such a widely and deeply explored subject, and I think that makes it even more interesting when we find our personal interpretation of those myths. :) And that's an excellent question for the Q&A video! ♥ (spoiler: they take me forever 🙃)
You have been evolving so fast and I love that for you! I always loved your palette and I still do; I find you use blue in such an amazing way! One thing I would suggest -if I may of course- is for you to make your very own characters with their own back stories so you need not rely on mythology for inspiration (unless of course you want to). It will unlock such a world of freedom, you can’t even imagine! The projects will feel even more personal. As for your art style, I personally find it very coherent and consistent despite what you say. I think we are always very harsh towards ourselves and our bodies too. But I can confidently say I recognise when something is made by you from miles so that says something about the consistency of your artistic work. Keep it up ❤
Thank you so much! It's been great to focus more on personal art this fall, and I think that helps with that art evolution. :) Exactly like you say: the more personal, the more inspiration! I actually drew my own comic/manga books for years before I... kind of got burnt out on that. It's such a huge workload, and I'm a perfectionist, so creating worlds and stories and characters and then also drawing everything and sticking to tight deadlines. So while I definitely want to get back to showing my own characters and worlds in the future, I'm still a bit hesitant about diving back in. Book illustrations or mythology art is easier to tackle after long work days. Honestly, your words make me really excited to get to that point (hopefully!) of being able to do it all! 💙 Btw... thank you for mentioning the consistency of the art style in your eyes. That's such a relief to read. We really are our own worst critics. 😅
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel :) The little packaging stickers were printed by the same printer as all my art prints, so I only used Affinity Designer to create simple vector cutlines. I'd love to make my own stickers at home some day, but I'd have to invest in a sticker machine 😌
I love it so much, and now I regret not ordering one, but I'm so far away (in Canada)! Is it too late? I did order the paint brushes you used in the last video, and I really liked them. And now I have an idea for my own project. Thank you for sharing your process. It was so inspiring! I'm always so happy when I see that you have posted a new video! Edit : I know you're from Switzerland, do you speak french also? If so I'll write my next comments in french, it will be easier for me haha. My English is far from perfect.
@@rxneg merci beaucoup!
But I can switch back to English, no problem! 😉 Thanks for letting me know, I'll probably order real soon! Edit : I just ordered. I can't wait! 😁
@@rxneg Merci! :D I tried, and hopefully I'll get back into it more! And I think I saw your order (the name looks kind of similar to your YT handle) so I'll make sure to add a little extra thank you!
Hi, sorry but its difficult to read the lines, pass to quick and they are so tiny. I would like to know what are you saying, thanks. Espero que se entienda el ingles, digo que las descripciones/frases que agregas sin difíciles de ver porque pasan muy rápido, la fuente es muy delgada y no contrastan con el fondo del video.
I've started working on my big Q&A video! If you have any Qs you'd like to submit, comment away! :)
