IMHO the most controversial Supe is BATMAN!
WHO shocked me THE MOST You ask? I'll TELL Ya: HANK PYM, Hit Girl & Big Daddy, n' CAPTAIN AMERICA, of course!...
The thing about Hit-Girl. Chloe Grace Moretz’s casting at age 11 at the time where her character curses near-throughout the film raised criticism among older audiences saying she’s setting a bad example towards herself and to kids around her age. However, it’s R-rated for a reason. These days, she can get away with it since she’s now older.
And it’s hypocritical that it was only her swearing that made people concerned and not that she killed many people.
But hey, little kids murder people all the time but them swearing crosses that dang line
Also if i remember correctly, Chloe wasn't actually cursing on screen. That shit was dubbed in.
I guess people forgot what the Rated R rating was for.
just want to say that Chole and I are the same age....I love that
@@silashurd3597 She "got away with it" anyway. Moralists can can go to their extremist-creating dominionist "churches" where the snake-clutching pastors are preaching TREASON or they can to go to mass with their local pedophile Priests to clutch their pearls...
Kick-Ass was the first superhero story I read where the heroes actually killed the bad guys. It was a surprise for me at first, but it was a welcome one
Green Arrow has no problem killing the bad guy, nor did Punisher, Blade, and several others that predated Kick-Ass by decades.
@@BigJeremyBeyer Josh probably never saw those. After all, they are older. I haven’t seen Blade in a decade, never saw the others personally.
@@Daemonzword he said he READ them, not SAW them.
He was talking about the comic books.
Read or saw, the point remains the same. He probably didn’t Read the others before
You must have missed out on a lot of stories, because he certainly wasn’t the first to do it.
Hey now, let's not forget Snowflake and Safespace's teammates! There's Screentime, the memelord whose superpower is basically just being a living Google search whose power he attained from "Internet gas", B-Negative, a literal rip-off of Morbius but "edgier" and "teener"! And let's not forget Trailblazer, the morbidly obese teen who has no superpowers other than a backpack-ex-machina that magically produces whatever the plot needs at that moment. Someone should've taken a torch to Daniel Kibblesmith's work before it ever saw an editor's desk.
Trailblazer has a superpower, blazing a trail to the kitchen (even if she does has to stop and rest on a conveniently placed bench 4 or 5 times on the way).
Agreed. I am so sick of them thinking just because someone is attracted to someone who happens to do things is some how special. It is so stupid. That is like saying I like to mow the grass on Tuesdays after dawn, so my "choice" to "behave" that way should be rewarded with special protections, a month to, hell whatever those nuts do, I want my own colors to push in peoples faces, movies about those who mow their grass after dawn, and to teach kids about mowing after dawn in schools and make them celebrate me. It is the dumbest thing ever. But at least mowing the grass is normal and does not defy the human body.
The comics industry is no stranger to cringey ideas and terrible character choices, especially the New Warriors, but yeah, the New Warriors 2020 were just too much cringe and no emotional payoff.
The cover artists at DC actually had a contest going to see exactly how large they could draw Power Girl's... assets... before the higher-ups called them out on it.
It's rather unfortunate, as that factor became one of the reasons Power Girl is relevant in the DC Universe
Ben Reilly AKA the Scarlet Spider, one of my top 10 most favorite Spider-themed heroes of all time.
He is the real Spider-Man, so I’m not surprised
I doubt that Snowflake and Safespace will ever actually appear in a comic ever and if they do it's likely that it'll be in a deadpool comic as a joke.
Cus they are a joke... This is a classical example og mainstream media trying to please audience by making fun of them. Like that gay hero
Kick-ass I remember following from preproduction after reading about it being in the works in Empire magazine. It was my most anticipated film for a couple of years up to its release & it delivered everything I could've hoped for & then some. Such an outrageously fun movie.
Hit Girl is The G.O.A.T of Super Heroines Chloë Grace Moretz played her to perfection.🙍🏻♀️🙇🏿♂️💖
Didn’t know Kick-Ass was controversial? It’s literally rated R and it’s called Kick-Ass. 11 year-olds are well aware of curse words by that age. I loveee that movie.
Very true. I saw the original Robocop when I was about 5.
I like the part where they say how Big Bertha loses her mass
Yeah very ominous. Like does she eat babies? To say she’s number 1, they didn’t say much about her.
Puts big bertha up the front as the most awkward hero.... "can change her size in an awkward way"..... and that is???? No point talking about all the others and leaving our your number 1
For those who don't know, when she gains mass, it's unknown where it comes from, she just suddenly grows. However, to downsize, she vomits out the excess.
I noticed that too. They can't say "vomit"?
Gross
At 7:30, it's a real shame the guy being interviewed doesn't know the large difference between offensive (uh) and offensive (ah), because he said it in a way that suggested the superpower would offend people when in truth he meant his power was used for attacking and the other one's power was used for defending.
How you pronounce words matters, dude.
The slap was actually meant to be accidental, but the artist who drew it was on a deadline so he couldn't change it in time
Ok, how DO YOU accidentally draw a person slapping his wife?
I still laugh my Ass off every time I see Snowflake and Safespace
While I won't guess *why,* I cannot help to think the entire team was devised as some kind of a joke. I mean, "Why?"
@@dennisanderson3895 To please the offended generation that... got offended by it....
I think you guys confused "controversial character" and "controversial story arc" for some on this list.
That Hit Girl character from "Kick-Ass" and "Kick-Ass 2" makes me think about Sean Penn portraying imprisoned double murderer on death row, Matthew Poncelet in Dead Man Walking in 1995.
KICK-ASS 🔥🔥🔥 one of my favorite “superhero” movies of all time. Definitely exceeded my expectations.
3:00 - 3:12 Actually that's Galatea, a clone of Supergirl in the animated Justice League show and not Power Girl.
But her outfit and look were based of power girl and he was talking about the costume
Lots of characters from JLU series were based on other characters, Galatea was Power Girl, Mindless Grundy was Mindless Hulk, Golden Amazo was Silver Surfer.
Hit girl was the best hands down. Everything else is just "filler".
She is perfection
I loved everyone. Even Red Mist’s dad had his moments. But Nick Cage and Chloe is the reason why I still watch the movie to this day.
@@grassfedcharlie its one of the few movies i liked Nick Cage in.
The best thing is that Hank Pym, founding member of the Avengers, cannot escape that slap. Spider-Man slapped his wife. Reed Richards, too. The difference is that people remember those characters for other stuff.
Imagine the world now if you could slap a women when she's awful bitch. Be a better world I'm my opinion
After Hank slapped Janet it became a full on fight. She shrank down, he sprayed her with insect repellent then had a swarm of ants attack her
@@evanblack8642 That’s the Ultimate Universe.
cf my posted comment about the origin of the slap. I agree with you. It makes one wonder why that one errant panel is *so* remembered.
I wanted that New Warriors reboot comic to be released just so I could find out what the heck "internet gas" was supposed to be. That's how technology hero of the team got his powers. Internet Gas. W... T... F???
Hit Girl was easily the highlight of the Kick Ass movies
Also I think her arc about fitting in high school by becoming friends with the popular girls is a little like Sam LaRusso in Cobra Kai Season One with Yasmine and Moon
However unlike Sam who briefly lost her friendship with her childhood friend Aisha and was eventually kicked out of the popular clique
Mindy got her revenge with the sh%#t stick!!!!!
For me it was the villain "Mother F'&cker"
To be honest, Hit-Girl is actually pretty cool and probably the superhero on this list that I could get along with
You forgot about the first African American Captain America. His name is Isaiah Bradley. He was serving in the Army during WW2, when he was picked to experiment with the Super Serum that later Steve Rodgers was tested on. He became the second Captain America and then Sam Wilson took over after he found out what the Army did to him. I'd saw it on a few episodes of the Falcon and Winter Soldier.
Always liked Ben Reilly. Especially when he sported his Sensational Spider-Man outfit.
Power Girl ‘sexualized’? Compared to how DC presented Wonder Woman in the ‘90s and what Artemis sported when she briefly took over for Diana as WW, not to mention what Image’s ‘Bad girl’ heroines in Gen 13, Danger Girl wear, I’d say Power Girl’s getting off light.
Capt. America’s Secret Empire honcho ‘Number One’ as Richard Nixon was a reveal writer Steve Englehart denied to the Marvel editorial staff- then admitted it was meant to be ‘Tricky Dick’ once it got greenlit.
Kara Zor-L/Karen Starr/Power Girl is still my 4th most favorite female DC character.
❤️
The Top 10 Most Controversial Superheroes™:
10. Ben Reilly™
9. Gen Genie™
8. 🔋 Power 👧 Girl™
7. Hank Pym™
6. Hit-Girl™ & Big Daddy™
5. Captain 🇺🇸 America™
4. Extrano™
3. Snowflake™ & Safespace™
2. The Black 💣 Bomber™
1. Big Bertha™
Snowflake & Safespace look more like a Marvel Parody of DC's The Wonder Twins. 🤨🥴
Hit-Girl (from preadolescent girl to 20-something year old woman).
Created by Mark Millar and John Romita Junior.
Mark Millar, a fine man.
10: Ben Reilly, clone but fans didn’t like that the tried to make Peter the clone of Ben instead!
9: Gin genie, member of x.force, needs alcohol to use powers! And it’s basically promoting alcoholism so no good basically!
8: Power girl, Superman cousin/ grand daughter of atlantian sorcerer, was overly sexualized!
7: Hank pym, ant man, yellow jacket! Was an abusive husband!
6: Hit girl&Big daddy, origins are disturbing bcs the dad pushes her to become a crime fighter! Also a little girl cursing on a film!
5: Captain America, comics with racial storylines relating to Vietnam!
4: Extraño, openly gay, personality and everything was stereotypical of gays! So very offensive!
3: snow flake and safe space, named after offensive words to lgbtq+ members and were tryna be used as badges of honors but ppl didn’t like it!
2: The black bomber, racist white man turned into black super hero and was scraped and unreleased!
1: Big Bertha, power to increase body mass and works as a model by getting rid of mass! But it was offensive bcs of how she got rid of it.
Hit Girl is the hero every little girl needs…
Kickass 1 was so good... I love hitgirl,
she and big daddy is really the star of the show
With these earlier stereotypical characters, I think people forget that they represent the times they were made, so being offended by them seems like a waste of time...
Great example: Ebony White in Eisner's incredible "The Spirit." EVERY character in those stories was drawn as a caricature with dialog styles to match (*except* the Spirit and Ellen). Was Ebony drawn in a way that *would* be offensive if presented as a realistic, accurate rendering today? Yes. But *every* character was, to some degree. Further, it is utterly ignored what an amazing and strong character Ebony was depicted as. Here was a young black teen who not only to care of himself operating a gypsy cab [which he therefore had earned the money to buy and license!] but was also so brilliant that MANY Spirit stories focused around some device or even full-on robot that Ebony had designed and cobbled together from **scrap** [he'd dig up at a darn *junkyard*! DON'T tell me that kind of displayed character intelligence and development is "negative"! [And so much of Eisner's work shows his skill in adapting exaggeration and caricature to craft a visual that anyone can look at and say, "Oh, that's Arab," "He's Soviet," "She is a very attractive Mexican lay," etc.] Even visual art has a context! (Can everyone ELSE in the world remember that, also? ~Sheesh!~]
Watchmojo ALWAYS forget that. They dont have the ability to grasp history and context in which something was made. Thats why it makes no sence to call them most controversial EVER as most of these are only controversial NOW. Like Power Girl is this hot blonde with Pamela breasts and no one sees her as a stereotype blonde and thereby a racial joke making fun of white, sexy women. They focus on the sexy aspect and the woman's body ... like wtf
Hit-Girl gave me flashbacks I wish to forget. Long story short, I was congratulated for holding back when she humiliated me into going all out which has done me no good.
*As far as Hit-Girl & Big-Daddy, he wasn't pushing her into a dangerous life of crime fighting. He was just training, teaching, educating, getting her ready,
So I assume Big Bertha wont appear in any of the movies then? Not even as a comedy character?
Sure if you can find a high profile white actress who can portray her.... Which you cant cus Hollywood is all about being skinny. But thats not an issue atm. Now its only an issue that there are not enough black people. Maybe in 10 years they will see the body size problem
3:34 Comic books are ruthless and unforgiving and that’s why I love them so much.
This channel was made for my curiosity.
There’s a bonus mission in the game _LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2_ in which Hulk, Rick Jones-aka A-Bomb-and Simon Williams-aka Wonder Man-go up against Hank’s Yellowjacket and rescue Hank’s Ant-Man in the command center of the Avengers’ Mansion. This, like the rest of the bonus missions in the game, can be unlocked after completing the required side missions.
What about Orgazmo, the superhero who defeats criminals by giving them massive orgasms to render them immobile (seriously, look it up), or Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD Blue?
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel

Snowflake and safe space....oooooh. I thought I drank away that memory
I do have a couple of quibbles. (1) Castigating Superman and Captain America for their fervent anti-Axis stands and positions, *during* WW-freakin'-2, is quite unfair. "Oh, but those enemies were drawn 'racist';" NO, it was indeed deliberately mocking but mocking vicious governments intend on dominating and dividing up the world. In 2022, someone may say you should portray such governments and their military "positively" so as to "affirm their humanity and worth." In war, you mock your enemy. (2) It really sticks in my craw how Henry Pym was editorially accepted as an abusive asshole. It all began from the one panel (depicted) of Pym/Yellowjacket harshly backhanding Janet. In reality, the writer's intent was that Hank was throwing his arms up in frustration as he struggled with the problem he was working an INADVERTANTLY [by *accident*] smacked Janet, not realizing just HOW close behind him she was and, sure, not thinking the clearest. The artist delivered a VERY "over the top" (ah-hem), overly dramatized panel which editor decided there was not enough time prior to print-delivery requirements to have the panel redone. So, all of a sudden, Henry Pym becomes an asshole? As the Marvel editor, I'd have addressed the shock by explaining what was meant and how this happened, trusting fans to be smart enough to understand how the artistic mis-interpretation happened. I am *so* glad the MCU has NOT incorporated the "Pym's an abuser" manure: He did and does love Janet tenderly with all his heart. In comics, can't we simply ret-con the abuse error out, for cryin' out loud? Look at how much weird alterations we happily accept as, "Well, it's a ret-con. OK." Let's just agree the face smack was a dumb accident ad Pym's not a monster!
Gin Genie, would make a good Team up with Deadpool :)) sure would be fun
Snowflake and safespace, and look at the……Jesus help us.
You should have had The Punisher on there, he was pretty controversial at the time of his first appearance.
Marvel was asking for trouble by naming characters Snowflake and Safespace.
it not the name it that there gay
Big w trolling the alphabet m@fia
I only know Captain America, Hit Girl, Big Daddy and Hank Pym from list.
Many don't know that Brown Bomber was also legendary iconic boxing champion Joe Loius' nickname
you forgot to mention snowflame. a villian that got stronger for the amount of nose candy (cocaine) he used
Hit girl and Big Daddy in movie form are the greatest super heros of all time.
HIT GIRL WAS ONE OF THE PARTS OF KICKASS!
Marvel releasing heroes called snowflake and safespace has gotta be the biggest troll in comic book history.
Puts the comedy in to the comic.... The idea is not even superhero material. Sounds like some moralistic crap made for a sunday morning hippie TV show in the 70s. Even they way the guy explained it sounded forced and fake
You CANNOT convince me that big birtha isn't a fetish character you just can't
Depending on how she's drawn, she looks quite cute and huggable. Like a big yellow marshmallow.
I do believe Gin Genie was designed with the intent to be, how do I put this.... Unsympathetic, seeing as most of those characters were designed with the intent to be killed in their first appearance.
And Power Girl? They tried to give her a more dignified costume in the New 52 and the reaction was negative. Ugh, who am I kidding here, NOBODY liked it, it seemed like half the known world wrote in demanding the old look be restored.
Also its not her fault that she needs alcohol to use her powers. The comics should have treated her as a complex character from a psychological point of view cus she was an alcoholic hero that got powerful by being it. Thats some really deep story that could be really fun to explore
I messed wit hit girl Lmaoo😂😂😂
I'd never heard of most of the entries on this list.
Possible others, The Spook, Man-Bat, Catwoman, Plastic Man, Judge Dredd, The Punisher, Booster Gold, Batman
I'm surprised The Punisher, isn't on the list.
the punisher is an anti-hero they said no anti heroes
This list should be renamed “some unPC superhero’s that hurt my feels”
Apparently unPC superheroes don't fight crime very well, lol!
I literally just watched both Kick a** movies 2 days ago and then this happened? I hope no one is spying on me
That's why big Bertha is on the Great Lakes avengers.. besides the regurgitation to switch back to her alter ego never stood right with me. Don't even get me started on Captain America
Kick-ass should of been called hit-girl she was the star of that movie! Wish they would make a new one!
First thought
Ben Stiller movie with bowling ball!
"Mystery Men"
I ACTUALLY LIKED HIT GIRL'S CASTING!
Dr. Manhattan, Some of The Watchmen, Endeavor, could be in the List.
Snowflake and Safespace that shit still makes me laugh 😂
Kick Ass was awesome and Hit Girl was the shit!!!!
Showflake and safe space lol.
Thought Hancock would on here
Don’t forget that Hawkeye is a certified mass murder ( Ronin )
"Extraño" is generally construed more as "stranger" than "strange"; also "outsider" or "foreigner". (I can't necessarily say it's politer than "gringo", though!)
What about midnight and apollo
Snowflake and Safespace? Wow. Just wow. What were you thinking?
CHLOE WAS GREAT AS HIT GIRL!
Gin Genie? Talk to Jackie Chan, he is the Drunken Master. And for him to save the day, he has to tie one on that he will have to sleep off later.
7:02 I think people should calm down.
Those words aren’t even that bad.
Plus, sometimes people call anti bullying ads cringe as an excuse to start fights with others.
Sure, we can’t truly eliminate all bullies, but there’s too many in the world and we need to reduce the levels.
And remember, misery doesn’t build character, it damages it.
Keep snowflake and safespace
Big Bertha wouldn't be so bad if she didn't lose weight through vomiting. They could've just, I don't know, made it so that she just drinks a lot of water to get bigger and then sweats it out much faster than other people can.
If you're offended by the terms "snowflake" and "safespace", just know that you're the reason why these terms were invented.
I tend to use "snowflake" when describing myself because I'm a delicate winter child who can't function in hot weather. Summer is a terrible season. I hate it.
Meh. "Snowflake" went out with the 2010s.
The most controversial superhero that ever lived is Jeff Hardy.
HIT GIRL WAS BADASS!
Hey hey hey hey, where the hell is Endeavor?
Hemo Goblin!! HAHAHAH!!!
Handi-Man from In Living Color
So Hit Girl isn't considered an anti hero?
Unbelievable an alcoholic superhero done heard it all 😆.
How about the Top 10 Worst Interpretations of beloved superheroes ? Injustice's Wonder Woman, Frank Miller's Batman, Teen Titans Go!, and Lauren Faust's DC Superhero Girls are the worst examples.
"Snowflake" is such and old and overused insult. lol
They should put Harley Quinn in the kick ass film
6:13 "maneurism" - when you have an aneurism, but you're a man. I'm just playin, we all misspeak, but it was still funny.
Hit-Girl 💜
Halle Berry as Catwoman 🤮
She even hated it as well
This vid lacks a clear identification of the "controversial" status. Spawn, Lady Death, and Stripperella all had some level of controversy surrounding their publications/release, but none of them made this list.
Those are anti-heroes, which is why they didn't make it here.
@@ludonymous526 So Hit girl is a "real" hero????
