The opening to The Batman made me feel like I was in a comic book, which is why it has a special place on my heart. That and it’s ability to make me afraid of Riddler, the least threatening of the Batman Rogues.

Deadpool’s opening will never not be funny. And I still get chills every time I see the opening for The Dark Knight. You knew you were watching a masterpiece in just those few moments.

The Batman's opening scene should have been second. That scene was incredible, from the cinematography, to the lighting, to the misdirects... Everything! Just the imagery on display with each criminal looking at the shadows, terrified, that he might be there perfectly encapsulates Batman.
If only the lighting was specific to that scene alone.

@Tim Macone even though I find it slightly overrated I agree about the description of the scene.
But then you see that Batman runs around in 10 ton iron boots and could never run down a criminal if he tried.
For me, TDK and Watchmen has the best Superhero openings out of any DC Superhero film.
X-Men Days of Future Past had a pretty good ass opening scene. It showed how drastically out matched the X-Men were and captured the menacing presence of the sentinels. And the opening scene of The Dark Knight makes you forget you're watching a superhero movie, until Joker's iconic grand reveal.
The opening scene with Blade in the nightclub was bloody but fantastic.

The opening scene from "The Dark Knight (2008 film)" is just so amazing, especially since it introduced us to Heath Ledger's Joker.
X2 is the oldest movie on this list that I saw in theaters. I still remember watching that opening as a kid. It was, and remains, an amazing comic book movie opening.
I think it should have been no. 1 myself. It is my fave film opening in any superhero film

Thanos goin late 80s Tyson on the Hulk and having him shook the rest of the movie after was something else 😂. He said I ain’t angry no more. That beating changed his life 😅

I love GOTG 2 opening but I think the 1st one's still better. How Gunn placed the prologue before the studio logo and the use of an opening credit.
Having the whole set look like a perfect recreation of late 70s and early 80s B grade space operas and Starlord dancing really establishes the tone and character.
It sets the movie apart from previous MCU movie immediately.

Damn no love in the comments for X2 opening scene. Nightcrawler inside the White House was epic!! Especially with the technology back in 2003.
Yep before I clicked on this video, X2 Night Crawler scene was the first scene to come to mind so I had it as my #1!!
Man of Steel opening is SEVERELY underrated!
The music in Nightcrawler's scene is the Dies Irae sequence from Mozart's Requiem in D minor, music for a funeral mass that Mozart died before completing. Dies Irae means Day of Wrath, making it extremely fitting for that scene.
One of my favorites openings is X- Men Origins :Wolverine... of course the rest of the movie is questionable, but the way they use Wolverine and Sabertooth in a slow-mo montage through different wars, and the way the viewer sees Sabertooth's descent into chaos is phenomenal... with its last scene: Sabertooth roaring at the incoming bullets of the firing squad... wish the rest of the movie would have matched it's incredible opening...
And I agree with all the other entries...
The blade intro where he crashes the vampire rave was cool. The fist pump he does after shooting the silver stakes always makes me laugh though

Watchmen’s intro will never fail to give me chills
The opening for the original X-Men movie, with a young Magneto in a concentration camp, will always be #1 for me. It's absolutely brilliant and makes you truly understand Magneto's hatred of humanity.
The Dark Knight will always be one of the best openings ever 💯

Deadpool's opening scene gets funnier every time I watch and the fact that Nightcrawler is able to beat every bodyguard so easily and quickly is definitely mystique son for sure but does anyone know if he ever forgave her after leaving him and rouge by themselves whether its in tv, movie or comic book
Xmen the animated series episode Bloodlines. It's a fantastic episode for Nightcrawler.

@Arthur Guillen The Dark Knight though I think it may have been hyped in it's own way. The Dark Knight Rises I find underwhelming.
Unbreakable I think it's a good premise though maybe the plot twist ending I think it became an M Night Shyamalan trait.
Days Of Future Past I wasn't sure of.
X2 I find watchable. Blade I like intro and some ideas.
Winter Soldier I found watchable.
Man Of Steel wasn't for me.
One thing I always notice with the bank heist was the fact that Joker appeared to be standing on the corner of a city street awaiting pickup with his mask in his hand, suggesting that anybody spotting him at that moment would have witnessed his face in all its painted glory. Talk about a ballsy crook!
Black Panther's opening scene was really satisfying. It's like an adult telling a child of how the earth was formed and I STILL wish Vibranium was real. Wakanda Forever!
Which is stronger, vibranium or adamantium?

Watchmen opening is epic! The Bob Dylan song with that montage is brilliant
For me, Nightcrawler attacking the White House was one of the best scenes in any super hero movie period! I got so excited when I saw his tail and seeing one of my favorite mutants teleport, flip, and kick butt in a scene set to Mozart music was so incredibly epic! I love it!
Man of Steel with the final moments of Krypton definitely deserves at least an honorable mention.

I am a much bigger Marvel fan than I am a DC fan. That being said I have to agree that The Dark Knight opening is the best one and Infinity War #2. The heist the Joker pulls off really sets the tone and grabs the audience right off the bat!

Does Bane's kidnapping of Dr. Pavel count as an opening scene? If so, I would like to point out that it deserves a place on this list and is extremely underrated. Hardy's performance, the music in the background, the stunt itself. I'd argue it's on par with The Dark Knight's opening.

People praising Heath Ledger for his performance is completely understandable, but claiming that there is a coalescence with the movie itself is laughable. Ledger was dialed to 11 and the movie was barely a 4. Plot holes, inconsistencies and little to no character development. The story was mediocre at best. It was a very underwhelming and overrated movie.

The introduction of En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse in the titular film is immediately intriguing and memorable, giving us all we need to know about the character in 7 short minutes following young Charles' first opening narration job (which of course he nails).
