the fact of how simple it is to convert it over to a different game makes it so much better and something that would take 3 hours to code only took an hour! thanks griffpatch.
This is something I've always wanted compacted and yet this is the most simplest I've ever seen. The techniques in these tutorial just keep getting more clever!
This tutorial is not only helpful for a shooting game, it can literally work in any game! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into every video to help us with block coding. Scratch will surely help me a lot to build a base for learning other programming languages and these tutorials are just what I need!
thanks as I am trying a lot since 3 years from this year I was trying to make fnaf 2d this helped a lot not only we can apply this to a full game we can apply this to small movements in cut scenes and you have a healthy upload schedule which is great
Made my day! I was making a game and was having troubles with the health bars - this is sure to help a lot!! Thank you Griffpatch for always making such useful tutorials!
Nice! This is a super useful sprite to add to the backpack. I just added it to my Rocket Canyon Run project and it dropped in SUPER easy to an existing game. Thanks for sharing these with us.
I've always wondered how retro games do pop-up talking texts of characters' conversations. but in Scratch, doing something like this is terribly impossible. It would help a lot if you make a video about it.
Your tutorials are what make me a good scratcher. Coding is hard but when we have someone like you it helps me understand it better. Thanks for all your videos and projects! -xxxxGam3rBoyxxxx
I swear griff is so damn underrated. You put so much effort into your projects and videos, and yet get minimal attention for it. Anyways, just wanted to say that i absolutely love your content, has been a fan ever since 2017, keep up the good work!
He's really good, i agree, but do all those scratchers have to smash the follow/heart/star buttons until their fingers break? he's a bit overrated on scratch but here on youtube it's better.
Hey Griffpatch, thanks for the tutorial. I'm working on a totally cool little turn-based combat thingy, and this helps a lot for showing each character's HP and mana. Keep up the good work! and stuff.
Looks cool! Can't wait to add this to my projects! Did you know that I have like 85+ unread messages on Scratch because I haven't opened the messages page?! (because of my exams) Maybe I can add this to Appel's boss.
Hey griffpatch you know that grid list you did a while back I want to know if it’s possible to use the face cam extension instead of spirits and the grid list to match the colour of your face and background and put it at the side and on the other side a actual person is there
I don't think something like that is possible in Scratch, currently. If they ever add the face sensing blocks to base Scratch something like this would definitely be feasible!
Man, even watching these concepts be done on a child’s programming language, these videos remind me that I can always “work smarter not harder” and that I usually end up on the latter half of that phrase haha
Hey griffpatch, this question doesn't really have anything to do with coding but what kind of editing software do you use? I like the way it zooms and the little text boxes that you add
I am just wondering, but to add several mobile controls at the same time, could you check to see where the mouse was in the last frame? I am pretty sure that is how it works right? Just a thought.
hey griffpatch, i found out about a thing that might be of interest of you for future self projects, or maybe future advanced tutorials!! in regular game developments, games have a SET framerate inside the game loop. in scratch it is pretty simple to do this using the "timer" variable, me and my coding instructor used this in my remake of the classic game "snake" !! But knowing this, you can now make EXCELENT use of the "turbo mode", because since you can set a frame rate in one sprite, and not set it in another, you can have sprites running code at break neck, lightning quick speeds, which is EXTREMELY useful in RAYCASTING. I should know, me and my instructor have tested this idea!! if you would like i can show you exactly how we have done this, and you are MOST DEFINITELY allowed to use my code in future tutorials if you so wish!! us coders must share knowledge after all.
Sounds like you've been having a lot of fun! I do know about using timers and turbo mode. Until scratch 2 we weren't able to make use of run without screen refresh so needed to do just that. But now with run without screen refresh I haven't ever needed to use turbo mode. Generally you can do everything you need without it... :)
the game works in my scratch. Thank you griffpatch your the best. can you please make a new lemonoid invasion of health to the player so the player will also have health and if the player touch the lemon the player has damage until its game over?
