    you know what i find weird. we celebrate actors and actresses and we celebrate singers. somehow we dont celebrate people that have to do both nearly as much. musical theater is so underrated

      @@ItsBoogie.part of it is it’s hard to spread musical through the internet comparing to pop/rap. It’s heavily relied on live performance, and when watching at home it also lost the charm of being in a theater since the setting is so different. I wish it got more recognition tho!

      Yes but everyone understands that in most shows you’ll have to be doing both dance and singing and acting. You don’t need to see clips of any musicals to know that, that’s like the most basic things. Before I ever watched any live action musicals I at least understood that people danced and sang

      After all the Nightwish reactions, would you like to finally react to Epica and their beautiful lead soprano Simone Simons?

    • @cancelled_user
      @cancelled_user 3 года назад

      I see my link was automatically deleted... So let's try again, without the link.
      Epica is generally heavier than Nightwish (both bands are top dogs in the symphonic metal subgenre), but they have many wonderful ballads, some are purely orchestral, no metal at all.
      The lead female soprano is gorgeous Simone Simons. You'll find out her voice is just as beautiful as she is :)
      I would suggest to start with one of their orchestral ballads "Trois Vierges" (feat. Roy Khan) which is a duet of Simone and Roy from another band. Please, use the lyrics video uploaded by "Kamelot & ARK Lyric Videos".
      I'd like to write more, but don't want to make this too long. I don't even know if you're gonna read it. I just hope you will ;)

    I love, love, love the way you critique! If the singer is truly a good performer, you give them credit where credit is due. When they're a great performer, the way you let your emotions out without pause, goes right thru me as equally as the performance itself. If no-one has told you what an amazing coach you are, that needs to be rectified. If you can appreciate a wonderful performance as much as your emotion tells us you do, then clearly, you've got to be one fantastic teacher. Critiquing is one thing. But, to show emotional appreciation for a performance while critiquing it, speaks volumes about your passion for musical performance. I've watched several of your videos and you talk about how important it is for the singer to find that emotional connection with the words in a song. But, the connection you allow yourself to get drawn into during an amazing performance and the openness to show us just how deeply you were touched, touches me deep down and hits me right in the feels, girl. I've got tears streaming down my face not only over the performance, but also over watching how it's affected you. When I say you're a beautiful person, I mean it in every way a person can be. ❤

    This song I had to see and hear again: it inspired my participation in my Berlin joint exhibit, Cutting and Binding. Music and Art are interwoven.

    Cynthia grew up in South London, about a mile from where I'm sitting. Her parents separated when she was young and she was raised by her mother, a nurse, who had emigrated from Nigeria. Her first taste of performing came in a drama project run for local kids during the summer holidays. Her teacher saw she her talent, and encouraged her as she grew older. At 18 she pondered whether to go to college of start working, at which her teacher freaked out and practically forced her to complete an application for a scholarship with the royal academy of dramatic arts, an institution which Cynthia assumed was for people from a different world. But they gave her the scholarship, and she was on her way. The importance of having a great teacher, huh? From her mum's council flat to a Tony on Broadway, in just a few years. It sounds like a fairytale, but nothing like that comes without work. You can be offered the best training, but what you do with it is what makes the artist. She's also very grounded and thoughtful, and mindful about her success. She's still a girl from Stockwell, and I couldn't be more proud and pleased for her.
    Jess, your analysis is observant, insightful and enlightening, and you are such good fun to watch. I can understand why you don't want your pedagogy to dissolve into a heaving mess of snot and tears, but watching you wrestle back the waters almost broke me! When you scrunch your nose and wave your fingers all over the place I chortle like a baby. As Cynthia would say, with such intent... you're beautiful.
    A singer I love to watch, as well as listen to, is Jessye Norman, because everything she brings to her performance is animated on her face. She's beautiful too 😊
    If you read this, I would love to watch your reaction to her sing Strauss's Beim Schlafengehen. It's everything.
    I know opera doesn't get the views, but I would like to see opera singers making the case for their art form and the craft of it, to a general audience more often. Props to that untrained person on America's Got Talent who does a karaoke Nessun Dorma .... but, aaargggh! that is not what it should sound like, and yes, in this case, pronunciation does matter, the words matter, and the story matters. And here, on RUclips there are other composers, other arias, and other voices than Pav!
    How does the Tik-Tok generation discover opera? Or any music that has depth and complexity? First up, someone has to persuade them to listen for, like, more than 30 seconds! It's depressing that pop artists and producers are making music with Tik Tok in mind, because everything tends to inanity. And like Sunny D and too many sweets, it's bad for the kids.
