God I love watching people experience that Lawrence magic for the first time, and your insights were so cool! If you like Lawrence you should definitely check out more of their acoustic-ish stuff, because they're crazyyy. Don't Lose Sight (acoustic-ish) has a lot more Clyde, and 23 (acoustic-ish) and the Weather (acoustic and gospel reprise) are awesome! Honestly any of their acoustic vids are awesome, they're so good live. I'm so excited they're going on tour this year!!
@@Rivkah.Gamble Lawrence concerts are definitely worth it! I've got VIP tickets for Seattle this Fall. FYI, they opened for The Jonas Brothers tour last year, and they'll be opening for the Rolling Stones at MetLife Stadium in a few weeks!
If you want to hear more from Clyde you're in luck because they just released a new acoustic-ish video for their new song "Guy I Used to Be" that features him. It's just as amazing as this one!
Welcome to the Lawrence rabbit-hole. You gotta check out the acoustic versions of Dont Lose Sight, The Weather, and all the others. They are really a special group and insanely good live. Awesome analysis and reaction. thank you!
It's so nice to have a reaction video from someone who notices how amazing the arrangement is. Please also note that there are no edits in the video, meaning this is a live performance - they're really that good.
As someone who knows nothing about music, hearing the explanation of why a performance you found moving is MOVING, was profound. I love this, great job on this video. Thank you.
just adding another comment for requests for more Lawrence reactions. this is rad. "guy I used to be" needs to be heard by you, the amount of Clyde love here is going to be blown out of the water when you listen to it. might be just me but would also love to have your reaction to the whole song played in full before the analysis, pausing a Lawrence song feels criminal. either way though, PLEASE do more!
yes!!! Someone who gets how hype this is. Love the energy. I’m not a practiced singer, but I found the explanations really interesting and easy to parse. Mostly here to see other people enjoy the music tho, and this delivered. All of Lawrence’s acoustic-ish videos are like this.
I love your style of breaking down the musicalities, repeating sections with your thoughts/notes and just indulging in those moments. Great analysis, so observant of little details! Also PLEASE react to Lawrence's "Don't Lose Sight (Acoustic)"
They’re all based in New York. Linus is their little brother. The rest are friends that lend a hand for these videos but aren’t part of the touring band. I think Gracie composed this one but maybe it was a collaboration with Clyde. He does all the arrangements. The acoustic version of Don’t Lose Sight has many of the same people with Gracie on lead but much more Clyde.
Someone needs to do a reaction video to this reaction video. Reaction inception. I’ve watched it a few times now, it’s so insightful and emotional I keep coming back to it.
Thanks for this reaction. Seeing people first hearing Gracie is always delightful. (as for Dimash, Floor, Lara or Tatiana) If you want to hear more of Clyde singing, you can try "Casualty". (the acoustic version feat. Jon Bellion) Note that every single acoustic video they made is so fantastic.
Great analysis❤ You’ll love ‘Don’t Lose Sight” and anything else they do. They have a series of “documentaries” on their touring experiences that will give you a taste of that fly on the wall experience you crave!
Looks like I'm about three months late to this party, but omg a couple of times I thought they literally killed you 🤣🤣🤣. It was so amazing to watch your genuine reactions, but in addition to that, your breakdown was so incredibly insightful and intelligently done. This may be one of my favorite reactions that I've seen to this song. It's so refreshing to see someone who really knows her craft acknowledging the quality of the musicianship of every member of this band. They just released the acoustic-ish version of "Whatcha Want" and somehow they've gotten even better. They're ridiculously ridiculous and I'd love to see you react to/break down this song... I'm subbed now, so I'll know if you post.. thanks for what you do. ❤❤
For Clyde at his best, listen to "Thoughts from the ER (Silver Linings). It's the song they wrote after the death of their beloved grandmother, and it will absolutely rip your heart out of your chest.
I loved watching you fall in love with this band like I and many others have. Everyone in that band is incredibly talented and I loved your technical and insightful take on their music. Such a joy all round. ♥
Love this! New to this band and I'm not entirely sure why, but I love watching musicians in the zone and simultaneously having fun! Like Jess, I'd love to be a fly on the wall. Their energy is contagious and it's bringing me joy! :)
Thank you for this review. Recent fan, like 1 week old. But so much hate comments on the Jimmy Fallon show performance. But they are truly gifted and talented.
Haven't visited the channel in awhile because I'm really into acapella music and I don't think you've done much of that lately, except for the gorgeous O Holy Night by Samara Joy. (More of HER, please!). Do you realize it's been well over a year since you've reacted to VoicePlay? Please, jump back in. I'd love to see you react to their "Bang!" which is a great, fun song featuring the sensational DeeJay Young (who's currently on Broadway in "Hamilton." Also you MUST do "Nothing Else Matters." I hate metal music, so I wasn't optimistic when this song by Metallica came up. But it's sensational. On the strength of that one video, the group Chicago invited VP to appear with them at their revival concert last November. Blows everybody away.
Welcome to the Lawrence Family Business. All the other recommendations about their songs are correct. And while I definitely think they're personalities really do get to shine in these acoustic videos, it also needs to be said that the eight-piece band just by itself with Clyde and Gracie leading is also incredibly fantastic. Working with Jon Bellion, Tori Kelly, Hunter tones, scary pockets, list goes on and on. Tour is gearing up for fall of 2024. Get thos tickets!
Such a great (and satisfying) reaction! Lol. I'm so glad you like @lawrencetheband. I've been a fan since my first listen a little over a year ago. All their music is fantastic, but I have to admit I like the acoustic-ish sessions the most. 😂 Don't Lose Sight (ruclips.net/video/C01nBm6vV5c/видео.htmlsi=0FKwdSWfqgIid59i) is phenomenal and so is The Weather (ruclips.net/video/M9TYHOARDFI/видео.htmlsi=W4L3qhFZlLvOFCbL).
Opera is musical theater on steroids, so I'm surprised that you did not point out the most important thing about Gracie Lawrence: She obviously has excellent singing chops but, fundamentally, Gracie is an actor. She is always mugging for the camera and the only way you can take your eyes off her is when she's out of frame. Just as her brother, Clyde, was destined to be a composer from the age of five, there has never been a time in Gracie's life when she didn't expect to be on stage, even when that stage was the floor in front of the family couch. From her mismatched geek girl wardrobe (only Cyndi Lauper was as bold a fashion iconoclast) to her whole "who, me?" act, it's all as carefully crafted as Dolly Parton's persona. (Did you notice the blown-out fishnet stockings?) From the moment she runs(!) on stage, the energy level is elevated. The comment below that compared her to Ethyl Merman was spot on. These kids grew up listening to Beyonce. Did anyone dare tell them that white kids shouldn't sing soul music? If so, Michael McDonald would like to have a word. Gracie's voice wasn't naturally the kind of instrument that wins opera auditions or solos at the front of the church. No matter, she'd figure out how to sing all those notes somehow or other, and she did. Result? She can move between full belt and head voice without breaking stride. Now for my questions, Ms. McKenzie: What is Gracie's "natural" vocal range? How much of her extended range (there's one report of her hitting an Eb6) is even safe for her? Can she keep this up through constant touring without injuring herself? Finally, any other audio engineers out there? Are you as astounded as I am by Gracie's microphone technique? With a handheld MD 441, no less!
The reactions to the music seem ridiculous to me. What legitimizes this practice? You don't even see the full video. Can't you listen to a complete song without stopping it to limit something? It's so ridiculous to do this. Who cares about the strange faces these people make when listening to music? We all react like that, because they are freaks... so, I don't understand the point of watching this video... it's obvious that they are good, they are the best . Instead of filming yourself "reacting", listen to its music, which is what it was created to do.
Don't lose sight in the same setting is even better. 😅
Probably so. And there's at least four or five other videos from them worth Reacting to as well.
Seconded. Grace's incredible instrument is on display from the beginning.
i like 23 more and i feel like she would also like it more, it has more variety than dont lose sight
@@masakiposey6532 true, but don't lose sight is just so contagiously happy tho xD
