I am very embarrassed I did not recognize Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty! I had no idea that they formed this group...Well, it makes sense why I enjoyed the song so much =)
Jeff Lynne was responsible for putting them together.. he was independently producing albums for George and Tom... and George pulled in Bob and Roy, if I remember correctly
The Traveling Wilburys is a rock supergroup from 1988, made up of Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. Roy had passed away when this video was made & they did a nice tribute to him with the guitar in the rocking chair. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care", "Heading For The Light", "Inside Out", "Tweeter & The Monkey Man", "Dirty World", "Last Night", "She's My Baby", "Rattled", "Nobody's Child", "Congratulations" etc. Sadly only 2 guys are now left from this group (Bob Dylan & Jeff Lynne).
When you mix Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne from ELO, Tom Petty from Tom Petty and the heartbreakers George Harrison from the Beatles and Roy Orbison how I hell can they go wrong absolutely brilliant
When anyone talks about a super group the first name mentioned should be The Traveling Wilburys. The drummer is the great session player Jim Keltner. He was an honorary Wilbury.
Roy passed in December '88, and the video was filmed after his passing. Online it says the video was filmed in 1988 also. They wanted to remember him in it, so they show his guitar in the chair next to his photo during his vocals. Fun fact, when they were recording the album, for which Jeff Lynne was also the producer, when mistakes happened he said (or they said) ”we'll bury it..." in the production process. That happened multiple times and was where they decided they were the Wilburys. They made up a backstory about the Wilburys and all picked a first name for themself. It's also pretty funny that they made 2 albums and called the second volume 3 ;-)
They said in interviews that Orbison was like they’re ace in the sleeve. They all watched him in awe when recording… not an easy bunch to impress either im guessing.
The guitar in the rocking chair represents Roy Orbison, who tragically passed before this video was shot. Both of their albums are fantastic, and the whole group formed by the craziest of circumstances.
Roy Orbison was apart of the group when this album was recorded but unfortunately passed away just after the album was released. That's why during his part you see the rocking chair with the guitar and the photo in the background. Great tune and what are amazing group of songwriters.
That was George Harrison playing guitar and singing at the start, he also wrote the song. This video was released in 1987 or 88. The 2008 date was probably a remix of video to bring the sound and video up to current standards at the time. Peace ❤
The first time I heard this group, I was in a record store and they were playing their first album overhead. Everybody was bobbing their heads and tapping their toes. I was recognizing some of the voices, but it didn't make sense. I finally went to a clerk and asked who it was because I wanted to buy it. I was amazed and so happy and excited to find out about this combination of super talent. I couldn't wait to share it. It's so fun watching and listening to them. Love their drummer too.
Legends upon Legends. Today’s youth missed out on history because all they see is single videos and single tunes, not albums and stories of bands and music artists that us old folk grew up on and appreciated who they were and what they had contributed to society.
I love this song (and "Handle Me With Care"). This song is made even more poignant with the passing of Roy Orbison, Tom Petty & George Harrison, all of whom have reached 'the end of the line'. Roy Orbison had passed by the time they filmed the video. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
Their outfits🤭🤭🤭 thats their everyday clothes. Each were a major player but all were real and humble. Yes even roy always dressed in black with his signature black glasses🤘❤️
The ultimate supergroup: Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.), Tom Petty (Heartbreakers), George Harrison (Beatles) plus soloists Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison + of course the great Jim Keltner on drums.
1989. Tom Petty, George Harrison (Beatles), Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynn (ELO) The biggest best supergroup of friends just goofing around, of all time.
The rocking chair and guitar were for Roy Orbison (singing at that part of the song) who died right after the recording process but before many of the videos were shot.
Since you didn't react to the song's reference to Purple Haze, you might want to pursue that bit of R & R history. Oh, and the drummer here is Jim Keltner, aka Buster Sidebury. All the band members, superstars in their own right, had Wilbury aliases. 😊
Roy sings his part right after Tom Petty, but you don't see him in the video because he died before it was made. The empty rocking chair with the guitar in it, was a very cool tribute to Roy Orbison's membership in the Band. He was the first to die. That was a nice touch for Roy. This was made in the late 80s or very early 90s.
I think they are all gone now except Jeff Lynn of Electric Light Orchestra, and Bob Dylan. Roy Orbison, George Harrison (Beatles) and Tom Petty (and The Heartbreakers) have passed away. They were all stars on their own, and this Band was formed as a joke when they were all in the same recording studio, working on different projects. Miss those guys.
The term "wilburys" was something George Harrison came up with for all the stage gear ie, amps, lights, mics, PA, guitars etc. George used it as a general term for all the crap they had to drag around in trucks and planes when they were on the road.
There is a documentary on The Traveling Wilbury's channel about the formation of this super group. Legends all! I really enjoy seeing people rediscover this amazing group and other more classic groups. You might try Handle With Care with the entire group in the video.
It's honestly really cool to hear the thoughts of someone who didn't know it was a super group, especially since the visual concepts seem very much to want to evoke that "We're just some guys here making music" to me. Thank you!
Hope you find the opportunity to watch the history about the forming of "The Traveling Wilburys". It's here on RUclips. It's an amazing piece of musical history. Loved your reaction, it was even better knowing you didn't recognize who the musicians were.
A great super group! They were the second great super group to start around 1988. Just a couple years prior to Themis group The Highwaymen formed - Kris Kristopherson, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. Both groups drew huge audiences and were so good ! Judy reminiscing of a better time. Losing Roy Orbison was just so tragic
Don't forget The Doors drummer JIm Keltner on the snare drum. He's not credited as a band member but sounds great. George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob, Dylan and Jeff Lynn all super stars making this great music.
Guitar 🎸 on rocking chair is in tribute to Roy Orbison who was part of the group but passed away. They used his recorded voice. They used a picture of him too. Rip to all in the group who passed away.
Look of the story of the Traveling Wilburys. By the time they did this video, Roy Orbison had passed, so they how his picture on his rocker with his guitar.
The guitar in the rocking chair represents Roy Orbison who was one of the Traveling Wilburys but was either too ill or had passed away (I can't remember which) when this video was made.
Hey, Nick... I won't criticize you for not recognizing the boys, here... that's been done.. I just hope you will listen to more from the best "super-group" evah! lol
I always thought this song would make a great end title to a movie where the heroes drive off into the sunrise after overcoming whatever adversity the movie was about. Have you ever listened to Johnny Cash's 'Hurt?' Or Tyler Childers' 'In Your Love?' video?
If you really like harmony, take a listen to Home Free's Helplessly Hoping. It's life changing. They do an amazing job of Ring of Fire and Brothers in Arms, too.
There is a video of them all creating music together which is both fun and heartbreaking since three of them left this earth much too soon. If you’d like more music with history, check out Concert For George to see Dhani Harrison along with a stage full of legends such as Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and others. I don’t know if you enjoy reading but, Eric Clapton’s autobiography, Led Zeppelin’s biography, and Steven Tyler’s autobiography all give a lot of insight on how all of these men (along with others) intermingled as rock and roll got started. (Steven Tyler’s reads just like he speaks!) These three just happen to be the books I’ve read. And, off topic, Bruce Springsteen narrates his own autobiography (great for road trips).
I am very embarrassed I did not recognize Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty! I had no idea that they formed this group...Well, it makes sense why I enjoyed the song so much =)
Would have enjoyed watching you as you realized this😂
❤❤❤ Don't be embarrassed, it made your reaction much more real! They were great... I loved them all, would love to see their music resurrected
I'm happy that you're learning these things while on your musical journey, sweet darling. Rock On!! Hugs from Nanabear in Texas. ❤
I believe that Roy Orbison passed before the video came out...ya'll correct me if I'm wrong. RIP
Jeff Lynne was responsible for putting them together.. he was independently producing albums for George and Tom... and George pulled in Bob and Roy, if I remember correctly
RIP George Harrison, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison.
Probably the best supergroup that ever was, and they weren't even trying
Its so hard to still accept that Roy, Tom and George are all gone to the end of the line.

Many people, when listing the obvious superstars forget to mention Jim Keltner, one of the greatest session drummers too.
True, shouldn't forget Keltner.
Jim Keltner aka Buster Side bury. 🙂

It was an amazing time for music.
Us boomers often don't appreciate what the younger generation has missed. Glad you could spread it to your gang.

The guitar in the chair represents Roy Orbison. He passed away about a month earlier to the making of the video.
They said in interviews that Orbison was like they’re ace in the sleeve. They all watched him in awe when recording… not an easy bunch to impress either im guessing.
This track was released in 1988. The guy with the shades is Jeff Lynne, the lead singer of the band ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) of the 70's
The guitar in the rocking chair represents Roy Orbison, who tragically passed before this video was shot. Both of their albums are fantastic, and the whole group formed by the craziest of circumstances.
is that a photo of Roy Orbison they keep cutting to?
Yes it is,.

Each one of these guys played a major role in my musical life...
Do you even realize who these people are? Legends all.
So surprised you didn’t recognise these guys, they’re so recognisable both visually & vocally! 🤦♀️
I have NO IDEA how this came across my feed. HOWEVER, this is what happens when you put legends in front of the class.
The Wilburys is what happens when a handful of musical talents check their egos at the door.
NOT knowing who they are at the beginning can only have enhanced the experience of hearing these amazing musicians!
Nick..ur looking at old hippies from the 60s..!! The empty chair is for Roy Orbisn who died before production. These guys r all mega stars
The guitar on the rocking chair was a tribute to Roy Orbison who passed.

An amazing collaboration between some of the greats.
The rocking chair is for Roy Orbison, who passed after this began. He was there in the beginning.

Definitely not early 90s.

What saddens me is that only Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are left no chance of a repeat.
You will never see Jeff Lynne without his shades, I don't think anyone knows what his eye look like.
A true super group, so much superstar talent.
That guitar on the rocking chair is roys, who died before this video was made but he played his part in the recording😢

Another beauty from the Wilburys. Nick you must also do a first time hearing their song “Handle With Care”…I think it’s best!
The ORIGINAL super group!!
Yeah, the rocking chair is for Mr. Roy Orbison.
What a super group!! Good for the heart music!
They're all legends..look it up.
As a Gen-x'er, I love hearing the 80's referred to as "classic" rock. I LMAO every time.
It's honestly really cool to hear the thoughts of someone who didn't know it was a super group, especially since the visual concepts seem very much to want to evoke that "We're just some guys here making music" to me. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hope you find the opportunity to watch the history about the forming of "The Traveling Wilburys". It's here on RUclips. It's an amazing piece of musical history. Loved your reaction, it was even better knowing you didn't recognize who the musicians were.
Of course, now you’ll have to do their other hit off that album…”Handle With Care”.
AND the VIDEO for it, which DOES include ROY as he was still very much alive at the time.
A great super group! They were the second great super group to start around 1988. Just a couple years prior to Themis group The Highwaymen formed - Kris Kristopherson, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. Both groups drew huge audiences and were so good ! Love your reaction! Great song choice to review. Thank you, Nick and Lori!
Just a few artists who sing sometimes and call themselves this name.
There is a very good video somewhere on RUclips that shows the weekend this band formed. It's worth a watch, it's a great video.
No wonder you like it, some alltime great songwriters there
how can you not know who they were? sheesh
Imagine being grumpy sheesh
is not grump jackass, just astounded that a music "lover" like yourself would not know who those 5 legends are @@nickforell1
I grew up on these guys and still love this song!! So does my 6 year old
I kept watching you waiting for the light bulb to come on..........
Major artists in this song . RiP Roy, tom, George etc.
If you love harmonies, and, since you enjoyed this video so much, check out their video for their song, “Inside Out”.
Supergroup, ans their best song imo. Great reaction Nick. Glad you discovered this.
An ex-girlfriend gave me this CD ~1990. Still have it. Suggest Handle With Care featuring Roy Orbison - unmistakable vocals on that one!
Harmonies..
well then..
Beatles..
Simon and Garfunkel
😊
The start... BEATLES...
Don't forget The Doors drummer JIm Keltner on the snare drum. He's not credited as a band member but sounds great. George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob, Dylan and Jeff Lynn all super stars making this great music.

My wife has already stated she wants this as her funeral music.
now that you know who they are - check out Handle with Care
Look of the story of the Traveling Wilburys. By the time they did this video, Roy Orbison had passed, so they how his picture on his rocker with his guitar.
Didn't you recognize any of these super musicians?
The guitar in the rocking chair represents Roy Orbison who was one of the Traveling Wilburys but was either too ill or had passed away (I can't remember which) when this video was made.
Released 1988 Roy Orbison passed away same year, George Harrison passed away in 2001, Tom Petty passed in 2017 . Peace Out.
Unfortunately, only Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are still alive.
Jeff and Bob are the only ones still alive sadly
Great reaction! You continue with the "oldies" and I'll be here. 😊
Fun reaction. One of my favorite bands. The only released two albums.
Roy...❤❤❤
Thanks for this one love it always have!
5 superstars just jamming
Hey, Nick... I won't criticize you for not recognizing the boys, here... that's been done.. I just hope you will listen to more from the best "super-group" evah! lol
For any band to have one of the Beatles; George Harrison, AND Bob Dylan, AND Roy Orbison is already something.
And also Jeff Lynne of ELO and THE MOVE.
So glad I subscribed to your channel!
You must listen to Handle Me With Care!
Roy Orbison died before the video was made. That is why there is an empty rocking chair with a guitar.
I love the pure joy you have ❤
If you like harmony you have to listen to Crosby skills and Nash.
I always thought this song would make a great end title to a movie where the heroes drive off into the sunrise after overcoming whatever adversity the movie was about.
Have you ever listened to Johnny Cash's 'Hurt?' Or Tyler Childers' 'In Your Love?' video?
It was the end title of the final episode of "One Foot in the Grave" (the dark one involving the hit-and-run death of Victor Meldrew).
It's so good.
Thanks for this. So many iconic singers coming together to form a great band. Harrison, Dylan, Petty, Orbison. Wow!
jeff lynne is also an iconic singer and songwriter. not sure why you left him off the list.
@@realitybytez I couldn't remember his last name.
Jeff Lynne is incredible. @@realitybytez
Beautiful song!!!
If you really like harmony, take a listen to Home Free's Helplessly Hoping. It's life changing. They do an amazing job of Ring of Fire and Brothers in Arms, too.
Super group in name and action.
There is a video on here that shows how they started ! Good story.
I was about to give you the what for
God, I miss Tom Petty
Shame on you for not recognizing these iconic artists!!!🤣🤣🤣

Check out "Handle with Care" if you want another one that includes Roy Orbison - it's fantastic!
Roy died before the Video
