George had this song he was obligated to record for a b-side and went to Petty's house to retrieve his guitar Tom had stored for him. Jeff Lynne had produced Petty, and Petty and George were big pals of Dylan and of course George knew Roy Orbison from early Beatle touring days (Roy was an act on one of their shows). Funny how all these connections come together. Kinda cosmically intended to be. After this Wilbury release, titled Vol 1. they did a second album titled Vol 3 (for a joke). George always had a wry sense of humor.

Great reaction Lee! The ULTIMATE super-group (IMHO) - no egos, no drama...just 5 legends, making magic rock and roll! Yes, this is as feel good vibe of music as you can get!! Roy especially was experiencing a renaissance in his career (kudos to Jeff Lynne for producing Mystery Girl - fantastic album), and was loving this collaboration - unfortunately he passed after recording & release but before the second video was shot (hence the rocking chair with the guitar in the End Of The Line video - it was in homage to the Big O - whom all members, even Bob, considering they were contemporaries, revered!!)
Highly recommend the short documentary on The Traveling Wilbury's here on RUclips. Great interviews with all members, great stories.

Such a lovely group. It’s a treat to see them going round singing and playing their music together. Roy has such a beautiful voice.

Thank you for naming all the musicians involved in each song. So many epic musicians get overlooked for not being a "name" or famous person. This was a wonderful group of true musicians/singer-songwriters and we were fortunate to hear a few of their songs before Roy passed and then we lost George and Tom, RIP. So much talent.

“Handle With Care” was written by George Harrison and originally intended as the B-side for his 1988 “This Is Love” single (yes, with four featured artists). But when the record label deemed it “too good”, the Wilburys formed to record more songs for an album.
The song’s title was decided after initially coming up with a few lines, when Dylan asked “What’s the song called and what is about?” and Harrison saw a box with a “Handle With Care” sticker.
“Handle With Care” was the supergroup’s debut single, reaching the top 40 in seven countries including a #2 peak in Canada. In the US, it peaked at #45 in December 1988.

As legendary as the guys in the Wilbury's are, there is one video/song of theirs that features 2 more legends. I hope you'll react to the video of "The Wilbury Twist" which features all the Wilbury's and also *John Candy* from "Train's, Planes, and Automobiles" (and many other movies) and *Eric Idle* from Monty Python. "The Wilbury Twist" is simply a fun, rockin' song!

The End of the Line -The song was mainly written by Harrison and was assigned to his publishing company, Umlaut Corporation. However, all five members of the group received a songwriting credit in keeping with the collaborative concept behind the Wilburys project
