Sorry everyone! I accidentally pluralised “Jesus Christ Pose”.
It’s ok to make a simple mistake. Don’t worry about it Beth. We all knew what you meant❤️
You’re forgiven!
Thank you for this video... my fav song- Jesus Christ Pose, fav live video- When I’m Down...he’s hands down the best voice ever, saw him front row center many times and miss him terribly.
When you do it more than once, it's not an accident, it's lazy. A cursory wikipedia search would've remedied that
Thank you.
@@charlesquinn8860 go cry about it to your daddy.
"Cornell had the songwriting skills of the Beatles, the weight of Black Sabbah, and a powerful voice like Mercury." - DAVE GROHL
He was everything!!
I love Chris n miss him so much, I respect Dave...but I don`t agree with his recommend!
I respectfully disagree with you and agree with David Grohl
I would add the wonderful complexity of the Soundgarden Crew. Those songs stand the test of time and are incredibly experimental and complex.
Agree with Dave. Chris was the man, nobody else like him!!
What a quote from Dave Grohl. He's absolutely right. Chris Cornell will be remembered for a long time to come. That much I'm sure.
We can literally talk about Chris all day..that's just how special he was.
Idolizing is a sin
@@disguy2487 Yes,..I agree with you on that, but I never said that Chris was God. Please take this into consideration.
@@brandonstandberry8236 chris was a god. There said it for ya
Thank you for the kind words...I worked for Soundgarden and CC from 2010 til 2016. He was a great artist and a kind human!
I can only imagine how kind he was, he always seemed like such a caring person who had such an amazing skill as a vocalist.
Sounds like a cool job
What did you do for them/him? How cool!
That is really, really awesome, and I am incredibly jealous! I am also curious what your job was?
I mostly did website monitoring...they would ask for my opinion on some marketing things like styles of shirts due to me being beyond die hard fan...seriously I can tell you what song is going to be played by the guitar changes...it was awesome and I'm very grateful...id also point out it was volunteer work...I only got paid in concert tix and merch which saves me thousands...so I'm super happy
He looks like a Rock Star, slaughtered poet, melodramatic Singer, consumed soul, Honest man, a pure human being... And he will be missed, because he simply can't be forgotten.
😇
Loved this description and couldn't agree more.
You nailed it.
Mike drop...
He wasn’t just the best rock singer, he was also an amazing lyricist, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, and frontman. The whole package and more.
A baritone who could reach a tenor range. Thank you for explaining what made Chris Cornell so unique and amazing!
That's what I call the baritenor superpower
Or Mabyye he can be a tenor that reachs a baritone tone?
@@RenatoRock haha
Jeff Scott Soto.
He had to quit singing that way live very much but he still sounded mighty good… And his recorded voice is amazing.
its not that uncommon
"I Am The Highway" hits me right in the feels.
Hands down my favorite musician.
Me too. Was a good couple years before I could listen and sing along to that song without breaking down after he passed.
One phrase no vocal coach could ever say is "and once again with feeling please Chris". What a range, what emotion! Legend!
I love that Rick Beato's formula has taken off so well. Great video!! Chris had one of the most impactful voices I've heard. No one sings like you anymore...
Yeah, I absolutely love Rick's channel.
🥁🥁⚫🕳☀️
Yeah… All these featured artists should do a video: “What makes Rick Beato great?”
What makes Chris Cornell great? Short answer, everything. Everything about him made him a legend. RIP
Yes, I think he was brilliant, as a vocalist, lyricist, guitarist and composer, performer. His interviews were thoughtful, full of insight, incredibly articulate, always kind and generous and
...and often funny.
I literally grew up listening to Chris. We use to order records by mail from SubPop and search out exclusive colored vinyl 45’s from obscure record stores. We hunted out warehouse shows and small clubs hoping to see our favorites. Soundgarden was at the top of that list. Imagine late 80’s /early 90’s a small club, cigarette smoke and stale alcohol, the heaviness of the instruments and his voice above it all. They were Gods in our eyes and that voice was heaven. I will never forget.
Love this video ❤️ thanks Beth!!!
Brilliant post..🤘🙏💙
It's really awesome how many videos you've made to appreciate Chris Cornel's singing.
He had an amazing range but he also had incredible power. You hit the nail on the head when you said he was one of the most naturally gifted singers ever. A one in a generation talent.
Some of Chris’ songs always brought a tear to my eye, but since his death they all do. Even his most positive songs are now weighted with the sadness of our losing him. It hurts to listen but I never want to stop.
Thanks Beth
Thank you for recognizing what an incredible singer Chris is/was. He is often overlooked within the grunge groups up here. They we're all great, but Chris was really special.
Listen to "Slaves and Bulldozers", recorded version to hear the song that he said was requested most by Soundgarden's fans. His voice, in that song, will give you chills.
I totally agree Cornell wass one of the best rock and overall vocalists who has ever lived and what blows my mind thst he was self taught! Amazing! Thanks for shedding more deserved liggt and much deserved appreciation on his musical genius and great talent!
“Rock” means “self taught”. What would amaze to me would be if rock singers would be academy taught.
@@onnevankenobe Myles Kennedy has had lessons and he's absolutely amazing
You've made my week. You talking about Chris Cornell for 25 minutes? Love it.
Edit: !!!!!! Holy cow. You included Long Gone (rock version) early on. Been trying to get anyone to react or even acknowledge this song for years.
That's the only song I really like from that album.
I love Long Gone!
Force of nature, what a perfect way to describe Chris. I have also heard him described as a vocal assassin. Tell him what needed to be done and he killed it. The world is a darker place without his personality and voice in it.
I agree.
Chris is my all time favorite singer and Say Hello 2 Heaven is my favorite song. Why? Because in Say Hello 2 Heaven, you can hear Chris' full vocal range and skill.
That alternate mix released by Temple of the Dog a few years is amazing just for that very reason. Chris’s voice is pretty much put entirely in the forefront of the song and is just amazing to listen to.
I know nothing about the technicalities of singing or musicianship but always find these breakdowns fascinating. If it gives you goosebumps then you know its f**king good.
the best voice of the 90s greetings from buenos aires argentina
This was fantastic Beth! I hope you make this a series and do the same kind of in-depth dive into the backgrounds of other singers much like you did here with Chris Cornell. A most excellent video!
Hey Tim! I have already done a few. :) Here is the playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL9cGSbtFombT_oZfH0bGTIOQe7tTurG54
@@BethRoars unfortunately, because of your audience, only the male singers will be well received. As your past videos have shown misogyny at its most vitriolic will manifest if you try to bring attention to a female singer.
I already loved Chris Cornell, but I think I love him (and appreciate him) even more now.
Thank you!
Fell On Black Days is a great demonstration of Chris’s brilliance with dynamics.
“Just when every day, seemed to greet me with a SMILE!“ and “HOW WOULD I KNOW!”, for example, between the lower and mumbly range he sings in for most of the verses and choruses.
Was at lollapalooza years ago and watched soundgarden up close. Me and my friends watched the show and it was awesome. Started raining and slowed down and chris played black hole sun acoustic while I guess the rest of the band took a break or something. Really was an awesome stage presence alone. Those guys put on a great show.
In addition to just your awesome analysis, thank you for informing me that Chris did a cover of Smokestack Lighting! I had no idea!
I bought the Echo of Miles 3-disc CD just to hear “Smokestack Lightening” and the way he sings, “When you coming home”. Wish we had more blues songs from Chris
@@trisharivers5588 howlin wolf’s version is much better
I will NEVER as long as I live forget the two times I saw Chris Cornell solo live & unplugged just a few years before his death... It was beyond a concert to me. He had us all completely enthralled with the performance... I really really loved the way he ended his set with Blow Up the Outside World! He did this really sick layered outro that sounded BEYOND amazing. One of the most tragic losses in the history of music, but I'm ever grateful for the incredible music he left behind.
I really enjoyed hearing your analysis of one of my favorite singers of all time. I've also struggled with mental health problems, and the facts of his death weren't easy for me to reconcile. But, we have his music and we have his passion. Chris Cornell will be remembered for a hundred years based on his voice and passion alone, and I thank him for that.
I'm glad you talk about the change in his voice and his off-days. It doesn't take anything away from him. We love that he expressed himself naturally and wasn't overly rehearsed/perfected. But it takes its toll! The posthumous Live from the Artists Den album was a capture of a really rough performance from him and I wonder if he would have wanted it released
Rough but he still sounded incredible on that recording
The requency analyzer was an awesome touch!!! Super cool.
Thank you for doing this! An icon and no doubt legendary. May he Rest In Peace!
Hi Beth! I love your vids and appreciate your talented contribution to art. I want to point out that Chris did indeed have some voice guidance from a local west Seattle teacher by the name of Maestro Kyle. Some other maestro Kyle students we would recognize are Anne Wilson (Heart), Geoff Tate (Queensryche) & Layne Staley (Alice in chains). I do not mean to be disrespectful or negative by mentioning it this so I hope it’s helpful overall. Cheers & thank you for the fantastic vids !
Such a beautiful talented man with incredible voice with so much soul and so much heart!! This is amazing video, I'm sorry I'm so heartbroken he is truly missed by millions of fans!! Great job Beth, that was beautiful!! FOREVER REMEMBERED AND NEVER EVER FORGOTTEN 😇💝🌹😔
I am so happy you did this video. I feel like not enough people know or appreciate the genius Chris Cornell was. He's been a favorite of mine since I was 13 years old and 27 years later nothing has changed. The troubadour performance is also my favorite. There will never be another Chris Cornell. He will always be a legend in my book.
amazing job! thank you!
Love this video format!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very cool how you get into the nuances of different vocal techniques
You are sooooo AWESOME!! loved the video!!
Once again a great and informative analyses!! Good job!:):):):)
Love the content as always! There’s a moment at the beginning of “Dusty” where Chris holds a note for about 10 seconds. No big deal. For him. But what’s even better is that it works within the framework of the song. And that’s what I loved about him: technical proficiency but not in a showing off sort of way. He was a humble genius
Wow, this is very well put together. Thank you for doing this.
Thank you for this video. In my humble opinion Chris was and will be ONE of the greatest Rock Voices ever. Great human being and awesome Artist. Love your reactions specially the Rock legends and Latin Artist. :)
GREAT series of vids, please do as many as possible. 🤘🤘
A must excellent review. Thanks Beth!
This is an amazing video. Thanks you. He was everything. 🏜️
This is great. I’d love to see more of these
I've been wanting a video like for like 5 years so thank you very much. It was really well put together and all around beautiful.
this was amazing!!!
You do such amazing work - a wonderful bright spot in my day when I get to watch one of your videos!
What a great technical analysis and just all around great memorial of an amazing human! My all time favorite in the world of music. He changed my life and inspired me more times and in more ways than I know.
Keep up the great work - you are a gift!
OMG I am so in love with the way you break down the facts about all these great singers and their voices. You nerding out about his voice is the best thing I've seen all week
I love that he was humble. On a podcast he said _"we wrote the songs, but you guys made them hits"._ And he is fully correct. If no one published their work and listened to them, Chris Cornell would continue working as a busboy. But it's nice of him to actually give the record labels and the audience credit that we deserve. You rarely (if ever) hear that.
Truly a Beautiful video for such an important figure in music. Thank you, Beth
This video was Very good. Well done!! Good stuff
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Miss Chris a ton.
Thank you for doing this he deserves it so much 🙂
Brilliant. Thank you.
This was a GREAT review. Thank you for doing this. -from one of CC's longtime diehard fans...
Excellent!!! Excellent!!! Excellent!!!
Thank you for this, Beth. I have been studying voice for 21 years and learned quite a bit from this video. Appreciate it, and you!
Amazing thats all. Thanks Beth !!!
This is great, thank you! My favorite singer since the moment I first heard him...
One of my top three singers of all time. Thank you Beth, amazing video about an amazing singer.
Completely realize and apologize that I'm over a year late on posting/watching this, but wow! This was a fantastic video Beth! I really enjoyed watching all throughout. Great research and presentation! :)
Thank you for posting this!
Great video, my favourite artist.
Thank you so much for this video!
You are so welcome!
Amazing video. Thank you ,Beth. I love your work.
You are so welcome!
This is great. I hope you keep on doing this type of content.
congrats! really great documentary
I loved this style of review. The vocal visualizer helped me understand what you were talking about. Things you've talked about in other videos but I didn't understand as a non-singer/performer
That was just incredible. Apart from many "reactions" you see out there, you actually know what you're talking a about. Thanks for sharing. By the way, knowledge about vocal distortions has developed a lot lately. I think we are living a revolution in this area.
Outstanding new content. Much love, cheers. Edit: Best content in your channel so far, which is saying something. Such a great job.
This video was amazing. Seeing the science behind his voice and very heartfelt dive into Chris’ art this video has it all. Very well done, thank you Beth!
Great tribute to a truly great, one of a kind artist.
Thank you for all the joy your music has brought me over the years Chris. You are missed.
Your english is so clear, thanks!!! greetings from Brazil
I'm glad through research for this video you experienced more of Chris than compared to your regular review/analysis, Iv always felt people were not recommending his best performances to you. Great content
Excellently produced video! Just splendid job!
Thanks for watching
I am struck by this analysis. I love the sensitivity you put into this. And as if that weren't enough, you are incredibly empathetic and sensitive as well as extraordinarily beautiful. Thank you for that
That voice has been a constant in my life since Louder than Love was released, thanks for the technique information. So many of those performances bring tears to my eyes
Thank you for this Beth, you talk about so many info and knowledge on vocal techniques that it shined a new light on artist/vocalist on how they sing. you put a lot of work into your video and love all the examples you made (I like the part where you made weird noises XD).
Chris Cornell's voice is just amazing. Soundgarden Superunknown was an album I listened to everyday back then, his voice is so in tuned in my head lol Best Rock singer ever imo.
I love a well thought content. Earned a sub!
This was SOOO awesome! Thank you Beth and Patreons.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Beth! 💗💗
Thanks, Beth. Great video. He's missed every day.
Great, great, great, work Beth❤
Thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH for making this vid Beth!!!!!!
You are so welcome!
Love Chris Cornell, and your videos! Just found you, never subscribe much, but to you I do.
Finally someone's recognizing Cornell as a baritone. Ok, he had a freaky ability in mastering his pipes and shifting so effortlessly whitin registers. But "naturally" he was nothing but a baritone.. The fact is most people think of vocal chords as an instrument you can catalog in rigorous parameters... while it's a flesh and bones matter.
Great video, Beth! I consider myself a true Chris Cornell fan, having bought every album from every one of his bands, plus his solo music. You really opened my eyes as to exactly why I loved his music so much. Turns out he was even more gifted than I knew 🤘
Thank you Beth - as a huge fan of his music since the early 90s, it's fascinating to see a breakdown of not just his insane vocal range, singing techniques and musicianship, but also some appreciation for his contributions to society and the kind of person he was. "When I'm down" at the Troubadour also remains my favourite live performance of his too, there's more emotion packed into that single performance than some artists manage in a decade. It was a great loss to the world and to music when Chris died.
Love this! 🙏🏽
Yes! Chris is my favorite! Loved this. You obviously put a lot of work into it and I appreciate you for that! I have loved watching all your Chris reactions especially When I’m down, which I am always begging every reactor to do🙂 How about Seasons Studio Jam version next? They added a drum which makes it more interesting and he uses all the techniques including beautiful falsetto! Keep up the great work Beth!!!
Appreciate the analysis of Chris, my favorite singer ever.
This was lovely! Thank you!
Not to take anything away from the amazingness of Chris, but I would love to see an episode like this focusing on Mike Patton.
Hi Beth, thank you so much for this video, I hope everything is ok on your end, wish you the best :)
Nice reaction and breakdown
that was beautiful Beth, thank you Patrons
Great video, Beth, thank you. Chris Cornell was indeed one the greatest singers of his generation, and one of my favourites from any that I've heard. I feel so blessed to live in an era when the performance doesn't completely die with the performer, and I hope Chris' performances and music will continue to thrill and inspire future generations.
