First time I saw Mike Patton was in 1992 with Mr. Bungle, Detroit. Blown away, never recovered.
Fun fact, Mike Patton does the noises for the zombies in the game 'Left 4 Dead' as well as the vocalisations for the Infected in the movie 'I Am Legend'. The guy can do anything.
Also was the voice of the Darkness in The Darkness video games.

Love Patton's voice BUT even though he has an incredible vocal range his voice isn't the greatest sounding. I prefer a Chris Cornell or Layne Staley or Serj Tankian (in his prime) and so on.

You should listen to his cover of the Bee Gee's I Started A Joke, it's simply vocally perfect. I knew heard such a talented singer, he can sing pretty much everything but unlike most people, he actually sang pretty much anything. He has a very very varied career and tried so many different stuff over the years. It's like he's a bunch of different singers trapped in one sole body!

Anytime I see Mike Patton's name pop up I'm instantly committed. He is such a huge part of my youth. Everything from Mr. Bungle to Lovage, handsome boy modeling school, tomahawk, faith no more and fantomas and his solo stuff. Each are all so different and incredible in there own right. He will forever be my favorite vocalist of all time. Thanks for the video, anytime I can drool over Mr. Patton is time well spent 😉
Same, Alexis! My 16th birthday present was tickets to see FNM open for Billy Idol right before The Real Thing went huge. It's still one of the best memories I have as a teen. I always try to explain to my husband that FNM was my Nirvana before Nirvana.

Omg, that was and still is my favorite FNM song and album the lyrics alone gives me chills every time I hear Mike Patton sing those words I get the chills just thinking about it. I am sooo jealous, how amazing to be able to see them at 16 not to mention at such a peak time for FNM. You're my kind of girl for sure. Gonna have to rock out to the real thing now!

@@rlfiar6581 It was my first arena show! I lived in the Orlando area at the time and we had a teen nightclub that I saw a couple of small shows at before then. I still consider it my first, though.
The guy has a 6+ octave range, Eb1-E7, can rap, sing, scream, beatbox, sing in a few different languages and he uses processors to put weird effects on his vocals to use it like as an instrument. He is a bloody genius and you need to more of him

One of the most underrated male vocalists or our time. Should be top 20 in any rock singer rankings. So versatile, so dynamic and powerful. Too bad Faith No More disbanded that early and rarely cared about doing mainstream. Same with Mike Patton and his many projects.

No. No, he's not. He is literally the highest-rated singer in popular music, as in there was actually a study done on vocal ranges and he placed number one.

Go to those same people and ask if they know Freddy Mercury or even Bruno Mars. They will. That’s what the commenter meant. Just because one publication did a study that shows he’s a beast doesn’t mean that the general public cares or gives him recognition. He most certainly overrated. Don’t you think the guy with the largest range should be pretty unanimously known?

Mike Patton is unbelievably talented, he can do it all and constantly does it all... which is why he is a massive talent with only cult following. He is a vocal master, but his voice will never have the charisma of another who sticks with a style and only occasionally goes out of it. He is a musical genius, but he will never be as enjoyable as other well known singers who perhaps don't have as many tools, but are still awesome.
There's is no one like Mike he's one of a kind.

Always loved FTM since back in the day Epic was just that. But I did not truly appreciate them until I recently heard Mike Patton in studio singing a cover of Burt Bacharach "This Guy's In Love..." and really saw him in his finest. Lovely.

That album is 'Mike Patton - Adult Themes for Voice.' My friends and I met Mike before a Mr Bungle show in 1999 to get some autographs. A friend had Adult Themes for Voice and when he handed it to Mike, Mike said "You bought this?! Why did you buy this?!" True story!

Not only is he an incredible singer, but he also performed the "creature" vocalizations in the movie I Am Legend (among other movie/game voice work). Truly one of a kind.
Easily the most versatile vocalist of our generation. Huge range in terms of notes, but what he can do with his voice (including the monsters from I Am Legend) is unbelievable. He does it live too which is so impressive.
