The best singer of my generation. I lived in Seattle 93-96 & I’d see Chris all over the place. We had common friends & he was truly a beautiful soul. ☮️
I'm glad Morello keeps bringing up his melody writing. Melody writing is probably the toughest part of a song, as there are a million different melodies you can come up with. And Chris chose the best
Same here. I remember hearing some of the warm up on the radio, and started crying realizing, for some reason this was probably my last chance of seeing soundgarden
Matt Gilstrap I had the Pleasure of witnessing Chris Cornell's Higher Truth Acoustic Tour and Man! It was a Mindblowingly Awesome Experience! One of the Best Shows I have witnessed, and I feel so fortunate to have witnessed it...because sadly almost a Year later he was Gone....I feel Blessed to have Experienced his Greatness
That's a real bummer man. I saw Soundgarden live and I saw Chris do an acoustic show live. Saying those shows were good is a massive understatement. Sorry you didn't get the chance man.
The former bandmates of Rage Against the Machine partnering with Chris Cornell was a match made in musical heaven! Audioslave was ground breaking stuff, so powerful and melodic at the same time.
Wow, that was one of the most interesting bits on Chris I've heard " dark of countenance". Morello is so bright and engaging. I love it when Howard just lets someone be on a roll and is fascinated by them. Would love to hear this whole interview
Chris Cornell is the only singer of this century, that bared his soul so beautifully everytime he created any music and was a walking vision. He will always look like Jesus and will forever be in our hearts.
Chris was the best he could make any band come to the front Chris is in top 3 greatest singer/ song writer in rock history people like Chris only comes around every 50 years or so a rock n roll treasure
I got to meet Tom at a small club in Cleveland years ago. He was so nice and genuine. He also laughed his ass off when I failed at a stage dive and floor bombed.
Super story. 👌 Morello is a top man, as well as a top guitarist. 👨🏽🦲 🎸 To have worked with arguably 2 of the best front men & lyricists of the past 30 years and to have enhanced what they had... WOW. 😍 Thank you for both bands and the magic music that has helped be the backbone, and some of the soundtrack, to my/this crazy life. 👍 👏 😜 R.I.P. > Chris. So lucky to have seen you play live 3 times in the UK. ❤️
Saw an early Soundgarden show at Illinois State U one night. Hate to say it but it left me with an awful foreboding feeling that took my joy away. They somehow blossomed. Audioslave and Pearl Jam members were the result. So glad it turned for the good.
and i continue to worship you just like you did cornell, damn, i miss audioslave and rage, i never seen either live ... oh and for all the people that call tom a fascist dick, this interview alone shows how smart and articulate he is.
Audioslave was so good, sad another album never got made, hopefully a b-sides & unreleased stuff gets released,R.I.P Chris cornell a singer who defined an entire generation & made some of the most memorable albums
RIP Chris, was lucky to see Soundgarden on Chris's birthday actually in lake tahoe years ago, what a show and what an angelic voice. I don't know what happens when you die, but if there is a Heaven, and I hope there is, Chris is definitely leading the choir of Angels.
Trust me I’m a hard-core fan of Rage and Soundgarden, but I just couldn’t get into Audioslave that much. This is coming from someone that is super open minded with music.
I'm still kinda in denial that chris is gone..idk...I've heard the conspiracies and they sound more believable to me..at the same time..he was a creator of more darker somber music and did seem depressed

R.I.P Chris Cornell, you will never be forgotten ❤️
No one sings like you anymore Chris.
Downloaded it on Spotify a few weeks back.
chris was a tear in the space-time fabric of music
“Let’s get the fuck outta here” had me rollin.
Tom Morello is the ultimate wordsmith. He could read the phone book and I’d be enthralled.
Tom is a national treasure. Howie recognizes this and did a good job pacing his questions and letting Tom talk. Great clip.
oh, and he plays guitar too
He talks A LOT tho. There's a lot of stuff they didn't cover. Even Robin said that at the end.
I really enjoyed this interview. Tom Morello is a great raconteur.
The best singer of my generation.
I lived in Seattle 93-96 & I’d see Chris all over the place. We had common friends & he was truly a beautiful soul. ☮️
Do you have any anecdote of/with Chris that you'd like to share?
Not just our generation.
I can listen to Tom for hours. Such a great storyteller.
I'm glad Morello keeps bringing up his melody writing. Melody writing is probably the toughest part of a song, as there are a million different melodies you can come up with. And Chris chose the best
Never got to see Chris Cornell play live... Had a chance and didn't take it. I really regret it.
Saw them in Vancouver in the 90’s (Soundgarden) awesome show
12 shows and a meet and greet. I'm sad I missed his last show he did solo that was 3 miles away from my house😞

I met Tom Morello at Coachella 2007 and he was an absolute gentleman . Pure class
the effect Rick Rubin has had on the history of music is mindboggling .... dude is like the God of everything that's good about the music industry
Loud Love literally changed my life. Chris was an icon. One in a million.
Will never get over Cornell's death. Such a loss.
Thank you Tom for the gift of Audioslave. I think you really did help save that era, and I believe Velvet Revolver played a big part as well.
Audioslave was such a cool rock band! The combo of Rage and Cornell was so epic!
wow I had no idea that Chris Cornell live in ojai. i'm from ventura. fool was 15 minutes away from me.
Chris Cornell is the only singer of this century, that bared his soul so beautifully everytime he created any music and was a walking vision. He will always look like Jesus and will forever be in our hearts.
Tom is not only a revolutionary guitarist from one of my all time favorite bands, he is also a true genuine human and an AMAZING storyteller.
R.I.P Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland all amazing !
Chris was the best he could make any band come to the front Chris is in top 3 greatest singer/ song writer in rock history people like Chris only comes around every 50 years or so a rock n roll treasure
God is Tom Morrello articulate.
Harvard baby!
I got to meet Tom at a small club in Cleveland years ago. He was so nice and genuine. He also laughed his ass off when I failed at a stage dive and floor bombed.
Fantastic interview, Howard has a way making people feel comfortable & safe to discuss their careers & lives...
I’m not sure the majority is ever going to realize what we lost in 2017.
We miss you, Chris! One of the best vocalist of all time 👆🏻❤️
We all miss Chris. What a human!
Loved Audioslave
"Like our souls are in peril" That was hilarious :D
90s was the best for rock in my opinion
90's was great for the arts
Super story. 👌
Morello is a top man, as well as a top guitarist. 👨🏽🦲 🎸

Just another day of HS interviewing legends ❤️
These men have been such heroes for me

I met Chris some years ago!! FKN AYE!🤟🏾🤙🏾✌🏾🙏🏾
Right before he started up with Audioslave, dude was cool and humble as fk.
WE LOVE YOU CHRIS✝️🙏😇 RIP you will live on through your great work and music! Say Hello To Heaven😇🌹🙏
Last time I saw Chris he was taking a whiz in the Paramount bathroom at a Dead Can Dance concert in Seattle mid 2000s.
Tom is a Top 5 guest. What a great storyteller and all around cool dude.
He could almost be talking about Layne from Alice in chains.
Most of my musical heroes are dead.
R.i.p Chris
Audioslave was so good, sad another album never got made, hopefully a b-sides & unreleased stuff gets released,R.I.P Chris cornell a singer who defined an entire generation & made some of the most memorable albums

Great Story
RIP Chris....
You should have Taylor Momsen on the show, Tom is on the Pretty Reckless’s new song and he sounds amazing
Soooo glad I saw the Temple of the Dog Tour and went to the Tribute concert.
I want that Chicago hat. It's the state of Illinois and that. Is where Chicago is so cool
Good story
To me , superunknown riffs are better than badmotorfinger riffs. Badmotorfinger is also an amazing album dough
Chris' singing was awesome although Zac moved you to a point where you wanted to overthrow the government
RIP Chris, was lucky to see Soundgarden on Chris's birthday actually in lake tahoe years ago, what a show and what an angelic voice. I don't know what happens when you die, but if there is a Heaven, and I hope there is, Chris is definitely leading the choir of Angels.
Tom hasn’t age in the past over the past 25 yrs.
Trust me I’m a hard-core fan of Rage and Soundgarden, but I just couldn’t get into Audioslave that much. This is coming from someone that is super open minded with music.
Right on.
tom has agreat sense of humor! I have to say.
Proud man crush
i miss chris! slaves & bulldozers...my very favorite! love you tom!

Tom morello sounds like a really cool easy going guy
Tom “do you know who I am?” Morello
👍👍👍
Like a stone...
I'm still kinda in denial that chris is gone..idk...I've heard the conspiracies and they sound more believable to me..at the same time..he was a creator of more darker somber music and did seem depressed
Idiots here in Seattle defaced a statue to Chris but fans came to the rescue to fix it
🏆👈😁
Nobody sings like him anymore...
I wonder if Ethel or her grandson Rusty like Tom Morellos music.
If you call yourself punk rock, you are not punk rock. RIP Chris
Why the hell did Rage even break up!
Damn, if #Chris even scared #RickRubin ... 😄
He reminds me of Eric andre, sorry just saying
Howard is still alot of the same
Chris Cornell was supposed to be my next Ex😢
😲
LOL
The devil or groupies? Nah. Rock of the "60's on", was a lot about "sex and drugs".
Audioslave >>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything else ANY of the members has ever done
