Hey Paul. Do you know what is the lowest RF frequency of the device? I bought the Broadlink and couldn’t use it because the fan I have ise a 304.25 RF frequency. Do you know if the LinknLink hub goes down to that range?
Hi Paul, do you know if there is a database of IR codes avalible from that app, I have an A/C unit that ive lost the remote for so cant teach it the codes :(
A top I've seen elsewhere is to set your routines up (if your system supports it), so that when no motion has been detected for 5 minutes, the lights fade out over another minute or so - it gives you a more subtle trigger to shift your position without getting plunged into darkness because you're too stealthy
One addition to this if it's an option is to set up the 'turn on' trigger to determine whether the lights are fading off, and fade them back up to reduce the jarring sensation of the lights having faded half way and you suddenly realize you need to move a bit. In HA, you might set a helper as a boolean that gets set if the lights are fading, and then the turn on condition has an option that checks to see if that helper is true or false. The associated automations would clear the fading state as part of their actions. Note that I'm not sure if this is something that can be done in Alexa or Google Home.
I have multiple lights in my office, and I have had them all switch off and need to move. I fixed it by setting 2 routines, first one turns off one light after 2 mins, the second one everything else after 4 mins. And the presence detected turns everything on. So if the one light goes off, I move, it comes back on.
ModBus is an industrial protocol often used in data center meters and building management system sensors. It's so olde that it used to use RS-485, and sometimes still does.
Ok, not sure I get it. You were laughing about tcp but actually their page says it supports local tcp connection. You know, cloud based connection is nice as long as… no, it’s not. If company decides to charge you for it or just closes, you can put device in a bin. So local connection for reliable device is a must. Any chance to know whether all these devices (especially emotional) can work fully local? Yes, I am using home assistant and I want to integrate it with HA (if at all) and ideally not via the app.
It's still "she that should not be named" to me, so pipe down there with your "Amazon Alexa" utterances, lol. Love your work Paul Hibbert. Hilarious and informative as always. 👍
Thanks dude! I started naming her when I realised she ignores me whenever I say "Amazon Alexa". She is a shameful creature though and probably still should not be named 😂
After reading some articles about how many young women named Alexa were starting to hate/change their names, because of Amazon ruining it, and lots of young men being jerks, issuing sexually harassing "commands" to them, etc., I change my wake word to "computer", like the Star Trek shows that inspired Alexa in the first place. For the most part, it works really well, and I can now say Alexa with impunity. The only problem I've really noticed is when I'm watching actual Star Trek, and they are talking to their ship. Thankfully, mine does not know how to engage defensive systems, or ready to warp core, so it's usually pretty benign, and funny. 😂
Hilarious and entertaining as always. What a neat bit of kit and a great discount thanks to you. I’ve ordered the hub and will now think up some uses for it.
Sounds good, but for me Home Assistant integration is a must. Perhaps a follow-up video? (I never head of Modbus). Can it be linked with Smart Life or some such app ?
I would be interested in seeing how their Home Assistant integration works to warrant adding the logo to the listings/website. It can't seriously be via modbus, it is far too technical and you would need to know exactly how they store and use their data within the modbus 'registers'; which could ONLY be achieved by them publishing it somewhere.
Thanks Kerri, for clarity if anyone is thinking of buying on this basis, it is only infrared and Rf that the broad link integration will be able to control, it can’t for example react to motion,
yes that is true have it turning on my projector no issues with the learn and send services, i am trying to work out the modbus connection but can not seem to get readings from it for presence detection. The temp and humidity do show up in the broadlink integration though. @@paulhibbert
16 pounds! That is incredible. I've got the Aqara FP2 and it's a costly little beast. It does do zones, so I can check occupancy of particular chairs in the room rather than just occupancy in general, but at 16 pounds, I could see getting a few of these. Aside: I'm somewhat embarrassed that I actually understood every word in the word soup the "Actual Home Assistant User" said. That does not, however, mean that I'd have no problem doing all that just to get my little radar box working. IR Blaster with temp and humidity sensor: With both of those sensors, this is great for controlling those air conditioner units that have IR remotes. Then you add in radar presence sensing and this is a phenomenal device in a very small package. I do like the fact that they also have a separate temp/humidity sensor as it allows you to place a few of these around areas where the temperature and humidity are good to know. (The bathroom, the enclosed porch, etc.) "Just use the Link n Link app to set it up..." Agreed, it's a bit less annoying to not have to use the app once it's set up, but I do wish they'd done something so it was just discoverable by Google Home or something. It is good that these devices can be plugged in. The only problem with using "any USB port" is that you do have to go out and get a wall wart to power them. They're cheap, but it's still one more thing to do. 433 MHz (on the blaster): This is also great. I have some Sonoff 433 MHz controlled devices (fan/light controls mostly) and I could use this as another way to set those without the remote or Home Assistant dashboard. "I can't wait to see more from this company." Agreed. Thanks again for a great review of some really compelling products. I'll be checking those links out.
As a valve (vacuum tube) orientated Luddite who has no interest whatsoever in home automation, 'Smart' devices, Alexa (I refuse to talk to technology), etc, I find your videos entertaining, very witty and informative. In all honesty though, Aqara gets to be the primary component provider for me. Lighting will probably be GoVee. Non-internet-based automation and security systems are what I need since internet is sketchy during extreme weather around 8-10 times per year. Happy Saturday to you too.
Really useful product must give it some thought but it looks like it could control the heating in your house and switch it down perhaps when you have gone out.. Paul also explains all parts of it very well.
Can’t get the e-hub to work with Somfy RF Shades, I think it may be proprietary. Does the basics on my 2017 LG TV but not the part i wanted ie: changing inputs through Alexa
I was gonna buy a few of these radar detectors but the link says they’re currently unavailable. Shame. I hope they’ve sold out from your link… but it’s unlikely in such a short time. Great reviews as always. If the temp / humidity worked as a trigger, I’d totally buy the more expensive one but it’s not currently worth it for me otherwise.
Pau, not sure if you got 'a good one' and I got the one's made at end of shift on Friday before a holiday or what, but the two emotion sensors that I bought from Amazon were trash. Horribly laggy, tons of false alarms, and not reading my presence when I'm literally 1 foot from them. Back to Amazon they go.
The inclusion of Modbus TCP is great as it means you could control / monitor all the devices from a bespoke DIY esp32-s3 setup (for example) using an industry standard, open and very tried and tested protocol. Writing standalone Windows / Linux utilities is also trivial as there are so many Modbus example projects online. You just need to Mod your Bus... Please LinknLink, start using USB C receptacles on all your products. When we see a MicroUSB it makes the product feel out-of-date.
You introduced me to the Smart Home around 10yrs ago with the Broadlink RM. The video showed how to copy a Remote Controlled Plug into the RM (storing it as a lamp). These were much cheaper than Smart Plugs at the time. 5 plugs controlled but a 10 button remote. I have tried many other brands of IR/RF Controller but none will copy these remote codes. Will this Linknlink?

I did there was... dad joke mixed with science)
And how it compares to aqara fp2? I know video is sponsored but would be good to compare 2 devices. I know it will not tell the zone, and I know it is cheaper, and that’s all, but how about reliability, accuracy, false/positives? In the 2nd question I asked for a local support as well :) it’s really needed
This is Andy from LinknLink :) FP2 from Aqara can measure the target distance so it has a zone concept. Ours is also designed by radar tech so if you are in the same range the detection accuracy is almost same but just we don't have distance measurement. But we also have some features Aqara doesn't have like downloading data for up to 3 years and the support of Modbus protocol.
I'm legit surprised these use modbus. I use modbus with industrial controllers. As far as I know we're the only people who still use modbus. I use it in my personal projects because of familiarity and how easy it getting data back and forth between stuff (because I'm familiar with it) but to see it in an automation environment is just weird 🤣
So I hadn’t even finished the video, and went and ordered 2 emotions, so quickly as I figured they would sell out, I forgot to use the discount code! I just tried to go and order 2 more using the code and they are “Currently Unavailable”!! I think I understood correctly that they don’t need a hub, right? Cheers Paul, great video as always .
Hi Paul, I've bought one of the ehub units and a number of the motion ones. In my testing, I have found that the motion/radar ones detects motion when there is no way it could have. Since you have had these for awhile, have you also seen this?
I have been using the RM4 Pro for many years, I've now bought this linknlink blaster and a presence sensor, my question is, does this linknlink blaster need line of sight to operate the Aircon? My Broadlink one did need line of sight. I'm in the process of moving into a brand new house and I am going all out to automate everything, curtains and blinds as well, and soon, the Govee TV backlight and camera. Love your work.....and the humour lol
@@wasper17 Actually, it often bounces off walls and objects pretty well. Apparently, the link budget is pretty generous in some cases (that is, only a very tiny portion of the transmitted IR needs to hit some receivers in order to control them). Also penetrates many plastics; I had 8 IR controlled rope lights, and to control each separately I not only had to use a paper roll between the IR transmitter and the particular controller, I wound up having to paint all the controllers with an opaque black, because the IR signal was entering one case from the front (other end of the tube), and diffusing through two plastic box wall into the adjacent controllers.
i laughed so hard when you used the word "trollop." i 100% agree with that label in the case context. it's a british word that has no precise english equivalent.
We're working diligently to address this issue, and we're aiming to have them back in stock within the next 3-4 weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
mine arrived today, it asked me to update the firmware and then it worked just fine. I'm not sure how to test the presence sensor, the app just shows "motion detected". The motion sensor is out of stock now
Looks promising. I've been in touch with linknlink and they said this can work through wood or plastic. Could you test to see how it would work hidden in a kitchen unit. I was thinking to mount it on the inside of the door as I have a power supply there and it would keep it hidden. Got to keep the missus happy!!
Just curious....if you use this to save electricity and they do stuff that quickly....why have it set to 5 minutes of no presence....save more electricity and change it to like 30 second's
I purchased two of the hubs, but I find they are slow to report occupancy. Paul did you find this? I have set them up near the kids bed rooms to turn on hall lights and most of the time it misses the trigger due them not seeing anyone (adults or children)
Has anyone managed to get the temp sensor to work with routines? I snapped one up as soon as I saw this video but it doesn't seem to work with either scenes or routines. Sadly if you want to trigger anything with the temp sensor it seems it's pretty much useless, at least it wasn't expensive, oh well.
I'm really sorry for the delayed response. You might want to check out our RUclips video where we demonstrate how to use the temp sensor with Alexa routines. It provides a step-by-step guide that could be helpful for you. Thanks for your patience!

@@LinknLinkSmart I was lucky enough to work with Andy from your team who was amazing, so helpful. It's all working fine now, I've just been through some fine tuning :-)
i previously bought the switchbot temperature meters you reviewed in the past and love them, they also work with alexa and you can ask for the temperature with those. So don't really need the linknlink's for temperature, but I am going to get these for the motion sensors as I previously Bought the Shelly motion you reviewed, but it turned out you couldnt do anything smart with the motion sensor so couldnt use it for anything. My only concern is using them for any automation will probably fail if you don't move much (such as watching tv on the sofa), or sleeping. it would be nice to be able to detect if no one's home and turn on a security camera and turn off any lights left on etc, but we'll see. Edit: as expected these motion sensors don't detect motion when you're not moving much such as sitting on the sofa watching tv, or sleeping in bed, so it's not great for enabling an alarm system etc. You do have the option to set routine time periods. So you can perform an alexa action when no motion for 30 minutes etc. But even at 30 minutes it fires as no motion if we're just watching tv or sleeping. I think the only real option is the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 but recent reviews state that is extremely buggy and unreliable, unfortunately.
hi I bought the person sensor, I cannot connect to alexa, opened the alexa app, and follow the instructions, get a 404 error when trying to enable the skill, also alexa app can't find the skill either. it does work the person detected is very reliable, just can't connect to alexa to turn lights off.
Doesn’t sound like you’re using the same method I did. In the LinknLink app click the me tab, then third party service, then Alexa and then click link now. I just did it, works fine.
I am using the same method. Spent some time talking to LinknLink. They're having problems with the skill for users in UK, Ireland and Canada and are hoping to have the situation sorted within 3 days.
I messaged LinknLink to ask them about it this morning and they say they were aware of an issue affecting some people in the uk. It’s fixed now apparently!
You don't touch on this subject, but with all the various devices with their own app, does this only work using their cloud? Also with such a low price point what is their long term income strategy. Will that said cloud all of a sudden have a monthly cost to be used? Or will they go bust and then the device will stop working?
Paul, is there a sensitivity adjustment? Necessary to prevent false triggers such as a curtain blowing in the breeze or the moving blades of a fan perhaps. Do you have any idea of the detection range, im thonking of in a long hallway to turn on lights perhaps
Excellent video as always. I suppose the only bit missing is ambient light based routines on the e-motion as I would only want the lights to come on if the ambient light wasn’t enough. Can it do this are you aware?
You could add a condition to the Alexa routine to only run between certain hours, but that's as clever as it gets for now. If you were using the linknlink ecosystem then that has more conditions for routines than Alexa does. If you can brave the modbus thing it's all pretty open and then obviously home assistant could then use conditions
Thanks for another great gem Paul, a smart gem. I recently bought a switchBot Hub2, it also does Temp/Humidity and IR. Granted It does not do Radar, that's cool. My question is, would it be worth getting too.

Love it all PH, your pH value is going up. ;-) (see what I did there...
Modbus is a commercial grade automation language commonly used in manufacturing and BAS
How did u get this to select a certain to station etc? Want to make it open certain apps etc on Apple TV if possible
You know what.. it finally happened.. I Laughed at a Paul Hibbert joke. I feel dirty now.
The Amazon listing (motion detector) states the power source is AC/DC, I was Thunderstruck by this.
No suprise out of stock and unavailable 😢
nice..but....Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
Great video, it’s crazy how cheap this is given the features!
These are now back in stock, and Paul’s discount is still working!!
Great video, shame none are available on Amazon UK
Update! eMotion is back in stock, and Paul's code is still active. Thanks for your support!
Infrared (IR) is a line-of-sight usage (think about things like tv remotes)
I appreciated the sarcasm around ModBus. Which flavor ModBus are they using?
I picked up the bridge, the others are unavailable. Could you do a video on the broadlink intergration?
The specs for the RF portion only mention the ISM 433mhz frequency. If you have 315mhz or other rf controls this will not work.
Please test also Homey, I would like your opinion about that.
You know Paul's wife loves it when he mentions his X's in his outros. I can see the red eyes glowing and the music blaring now.
i laughed so hard when you used the word "trollop." i 100% agree with that label in the case context. it's a british word that has no precise english equivalent.
I love the idea of a BBC newsreader just uttering the word trollop after a long pause 😂
Thanks for the video. I'm still looking for a RF controller for 866Mhz, used by a curtain controller from Italy. Any ideas?
If u are using Homeassistent with a ZigBee Stick just get a Tuya MM Wave Sensor for 14$ its plug and play.
Nice! Thanks for the tip!
How accurate out of the box is it for temperature? I am sick of the others they are great a data gathering but shit at temperature reading
And my apologies I've just seen the discount code !!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh😅 head down in shame !!!!! Keep up the good work (head blown up)
Happy Saturday Paul, thanks.
Happy Saturday Ron!
ModBus is a historic control bus protocol.
Motion sensor not available?
Would love to purchase Paul, but the links state they are no longer available :(
We're working diligently to address this issue, and we're aiming to have them back in stock within the next 3-4 weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
You had me at Steven He! LOL
mine arrived today, it asked me to update the firmware and then it worked just fine.
Bossman, I plan to buy two big Echo 4th Gen and one Amazon Echo Sub. Could you please help me with the reviews and how it will sound? Thanks 👍👊
Just curious....if you use this to save electricity and they do stuff that quickly....why have it set to 5 minutes of no presence....save more electricity and change it to like 30 second's
Just bought the ehub thanks for the discount code saved £10.80. Ir blaster and rf blaster for £43. Bang on
AND radar presence detection!!
I purchased two of the hubs, but I find they are slow to report occupancy. Paul did you find this? I have set them up near the kids bed rooms to turn on hall lights and most of the time it misses the trigger due them not seeing anyone (adults or children)
I think the biggest let down is the micro USB or is it even mini like they write on th homepage?
Doesn't work with Google Home automations atm but then again what does...
Same here
I'm really sorry for the delayed response.

For the price it's well worth buying one and then experiment.
Love the HA joke!😂
That took soooooo long to try to memorise and I STILL had to separate it up! 🤣
I live near Lincoln, so ity could be a Lincoln LinknLink!!!
That logo though. You didn't comment on it? Yeah, THAT one.
hi I bought the person sensor, I cannot connect to alexa, opened the alexa app, and follow the instructions, get a 404 error when trying to enable the skill, also alexa app can't find the skill either. it does work the person detected is very reliable, just can't connect to alexa to turn lights off.
Same here
Doesn’t sound like you’re using the same method I did.
@@paulhibbert yeah did exactly that 404 not found everytime 😞
I messaged LinknLink to ask them about it this morning and they say they were aware of an issue affecting some people in the uk. It’s fixed now apparently!
You can pick them up 37 quid for the three of them, now im debating as i don't actually need them 😂🤷
You don't touch on this subject, but with all the various devices with their own app, does this only work using their cloud? Also with such a low price point what is their long term income strategy. Will that said cloud all of a sudden have a monthly cost to be used? Or will they go bust and then the device will stop working?
Can’t seem to get the promo code to work on Amazon uk
Me neither?
Me too! Says code is not valid
Now doesn’t seem to be available
Paul, is there a sensitivity adjustment? Necessary to prevent false triggers such as a curtain blowing in the breeze or the moving blades of a fan perhaps.
Do you have any idea of the detection range, im thonking of in a long hallway to turn on lights perhaps
Love the videos Paul have been a long time sub but can you do more of these affordable tech videos cheers
There are so few affordable technology products that I can only really do them now and then. I’ll try though dude!
Is there any talk in regards to adding HomeKit capability?
Paul, you get me all excited, but then I find out it's unavailable from Amazon. Such a tease.
Seems only eTHS available in US
Excellent video as always.
Careful Paul Will Smith may come around and slap your face for calling his wife a “trollop”😂😂
Hi Paul, great video as usual, you talk about your tv and set top box, is that a Sky Q box ?
would love to see homebridge support for these devices
Node Red also speaks ModBus--though I've yet to do it, so I can't say how terrible it might be.
is there a source on how to make that thing work wit home assistant? actually google didn't dig up anything...
Thanks for another great gem Paul, a smart gem. I recently bought a switchBot Hub2, it also does Temp/Humidity and IR. Granted It does not do Radar, that's cool. My question is, would it be worth getting too.
Great video! I’m assuming they work off of the wifi? Not zigbee or zwave? You may have mentioned it in the video and I missed it.
Yes, they’re WiFi 😊
Just seen the subtle promotion of your book on Automate Your Life 😂 Discount code not working in UK😢
