Loved the original of Dan Peek singing - my favorite America song! Still, this was very, very good. I hope they perform it while on the 50th Anniversary Tour 🙏
It always brings back such good memories hearing these guys. I was in high school when you heard them on the radio every day. (in the 70's) Yeah, I'm an old guy. I saw them in concert recently and they still look great and sound great. They must still have an appealing sound, there were just as many people at that concert in their 20's as people 50 and up. It was good to see.
Daniel Milton 'Dan' Peek (November 1, 1950 - July 24, 2011) was a musician best known as a member of the rock band America from 1970 to 1977, together with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell. He was also a "pioneer in contemporary Christian music." Peek contributed lead and backing vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards, and harmonica to their recordings during his tenure in the band.
Dan had a very unique voice as did the Beckley and Bunnell. Wish Dan had been there when this was played. America really had a classy and artistic flair in their music and they is what is missing wit today's mundane racket on the airwaves!
finally but slowly they are recognizing Danny again after his passing, but they were kind of D'bagging away when it came to the songs that he wrote and sung. not giving any credit you are correct for a time they did
This is silly, how on earth he didn't even mentioned Dans name when you should suppose to give credit to Dan when he is the one compose and sang that song. I know they part ways long time ago. but dans already dead, at least they should pay respect to one of their original members. So sad.😑
The song is written by Dan Peek, who was part of the group that later left, and is now dead. Treating him like this without giving him due importance is sad and not honorable. In merit to the artistic success, voice and interpretation, there is the difference that can exist between an amateur and a professional.
Very disappointed you didn’t mention the writer and lead singer if this song Dan Peek.. IMO he was the best voice in the band.. Hopefully you’ll acknowledge him before singing this or lonely people..
It's hardly Gerry or Dewey's fault that Dan jumped ship way back when -nor should they feel obliged to mention his name every time they perform a Dan Peek song. Dan's contribution was meagre after Homecoming anyhow and Dewey always the main creative force. I think most folks would agree on that.
Prairie Dan Peeks left the band due to his belief in Jesus Christ. He prospered even with his post-America period. His Christian version of Lonely People hit the top 20 Christian billboard in 1986. Peek’s influence was very instrumental in the formation of the band’s sound and there is no denying it.
Dan Peek thank you for all. God bless your sweet soul. I'll love you forever.💙💙
Thank you for this beautiful song.
*Dan Peek, great musician, fantastic America's Band member. I miss you lovely Dan. Rip* 💔
Thanks to Dan Peek for this song and to the band for its performance. Classic America!
This song, and SO many of America’s songs give me CHILLS up & down my spine!! So many good memories!! 🩷
Henry Diltz.. So glad they recognized him and had him come out. Love the banjo.

Dan had a very unique voice as did the Beckley and Bunnell. Wish Dan had been there when this was played. America really had a classy and artistic flair in their music and they is what is missing wit today's mundane racket on the airwaves!

Cómo haces falta maestro Dan Peek!!!
And Dan's picture is right there above their heads on the album cover...🤔

"Would all of you just STFU ABOUT DAN PEEK?"--Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell
Was there ever a better time for music than the first half of the nineteen-seventies?
Wow, couldn't even mention that Dan penned the song?
I was thinking the same thing ~ I think they parted as frienimeze
@@rocksinger45 Probably, but he was their partner at one time and, also, have some respect for the guy since he's dead now.
Yeah I was rather disappointed to see that
finally but slowly they are recognizing Danny again after his passing, but they were kind of D'bagging away when it came to the songs that he wrote and sung. not giving any credit you are correct for a time they did
tHIS song was composed by Dan Peek...

You are completely right, what a shame! Not even one word for Peek, that was very unfriendly.
You are so right. This was Dan's song. How disrespectful not to acknowledge him. Shameful.

does anyone know if they will be comming to augusta georgia anytime soon
Pretty good, but Dan Peek's voice would have made it perfection!
Darn....RUclips erased my funny version of the truth of Dan’s song.....oh well, maybe they will bring it back.
Great" But Dan Peek would of added more to it.
Not a word about third former member, writer and originally lead singer of this song, Dan Peek. Shame on you Gerry
doing the song is honoring dan, every fan knows about dan
Very disappointed you didn’t mention the writer and lead singer if this song Dan Peek..
IMO he was the best voice in the band..
Hopefully you’ll acknowledge him before singing this or lonely people..
Nicly done! But not even one word remembering Peek, 'twas kind of rude.
Really, not a mention of Dan wtf. Also mix on banjo started ok. Then went downhill from there
this sounds like crap without dan's voice.
This version is very good but I miss Dan Peek.

The brought out the person who played banjo on the original recording, they could at least mention Dan.
Hey, I'm a Dan Peek fan -always have been- and I think they do give him credit both for his writing and musicianship. No argument.
Bull Crap he didnt mention Dan Peek
They mixed poor Henry’s banjo way down. :-(
