As someone with 400h in this game, for the first time playthrough on the hardest difficulty you were doing really, really good, that was impressive. I was much worse for the first few hours, I was dying constantly on Ultra Violence.
@@ImRecap he makes a good point, I haven’t watched your other videos yet, but judging by this one, you make really engaging content. Solid editing too. You have some real potential.
A little tip if you're gonna play the game for your own now: pick air control as your first rune, you'll thank me. It's a game changer. Great video btw
I couldn’t back this statement up more, extended stagger is extremely helpful as well early game so you have extra time to do what you need to to get to the. Before you can just meathook them. But air control is critical a thousand percent
As someone who beat UN a few times as well as the DLCs (First one before it got nerfed), you did pretty well. The third level in the game is actually one of the more difficult on UN even as an experienced player as you still have so little of the game's tools to work with, but some of the tougher enemies start spawning such as the whiplash. The later levels of course spawn far more and more dangerous enemies, but with some hours in the game and knowing what's coming in each encounter (so you can prioritise the biggest threats first) they're actually pretty relaxing. I think it took me about 10-12 tries to beat UN after I had already done the game on Nightmare and at least half of those were deaths to the third level, with most of the others being on the first. One big tip I have for the third level is to immediately unlock the triple lock on rocket mod on the rocket launcher, and use it to kill each whiplash straight away. Once you're later in the game, the ballista quick switch to the ADS single shot from the machine gun (second weapon you get, I forget the proper name for it) is crazy for damage. Super shotgun with the flaming meathook is your best friend for staying alive (you can also use this to swing around and not just to get to enemies). Beating the final boss for the first time on UN is a different feeling indeed.
Dude, I'm telling you... I've played this game for almost 200 hours I know the combos, some advanced techniques, secrets, beat the game in Nightmare, also master levels and DLC's, but NEVER have reached as far as you did. You're my hero. ❤ My next run also will be dedicated to George.
I really thought about the question when I seen the video, and came to the conclusion, an experienced gamer definitely can, it will take a while but with dedication, absolutely. As for the non gamer, absolutely not, I don't think they could in a months time if their life depended on it. But a lot of these deaths, you rinse and repeat so many times up until the next checkpoint, you develop a routine each time while getting practice and experience. When I seen you playing, I knew you could, idk if you ever did or not, but you're definitely capable, I was impressed actually.
As someone who has played this game for about 170+ hours, seeing you get to Cultist Base on one of your first few tries was awesome. That level is notoriously difficult to beat on an ultra nightmare run. I never even got past the second level myself lol. Seeing how well you did as a new player was inspiring. Good shit, and keep up the great content, brother!
I love the premise. I got hooked on beating games without dying. It’s definitely a tougher learning curve. But there’s this little voice in my head that cherishes the idea of deathless.
Dude that was fucking impressive!! That first large arena around the middle of level 2 took me almost an hour on my first playthrough, on ultra violence! Major major props to you
Only 200 subs is actually insane. Quite literally one of the best videos I’ve ever watched. Keep up the great work! Definitely looking forward to more videos
Having about 180 hours on the game and I have beaten the game on nightmare, I can honestly say that your doing great! I now want to beat it on ultra nightmare
Bro, I think you could actually do it! Not all in one sitting. But definitely after a few weeks of trying! I'm impressed with how well you picked things up.
@@ImRecap it only took like a few hours because of how fast paced Trepang is. The worst part is how annoying it is so idk if you’ll find it better or worse than Doom
Nice video man ! Great job also going this far for your first time playing the game. Also i'm sure people have already told you this but it's true that the first three levels are the hardest in an ultranightmare run, especially the third one. If it gives you confort i can say that when i attempted ultranightmare i only died on those first three levels and when i got past them i finished the game. Then again that was after beating the game several times on nightmare so... Just keep trying and eventually you'll get it.
You were doing pretty well actually. Took me a lot of runs to get to Cultist Base when playing UN. I was constantly dying in the first 2 levels. And that was after beating everything on Nightmare several times, learning quick swaps, etc.
small tip , Idk if it will work for you but you can kill heavy demons if you have 3 charges of your chainsaw , making so you can skip an demon that could be a problem in a place, like the spider demon in the subway , also if you do chainsaw an enemy you can use flame belch , but I recomend hitting big crowds with the ice bomb than flame belch so you dont take dmg and also get health if you upgrade the suit , also dont worry if the early game is too hard , once you get the doom dance it will become much more easy , also later on you can do more dmg and take more punishment but not a lot given the insane dmg enemys do.
Getting to cultist base for the first time with only 3 previous attempts is pretty crazy. On my first run of this game I probably died about 10 times just on the 2nd or 3rd difficulty level lol
I love this game a lot, but my Nightmare playthrough broke me. I can't imagine trying ultra nightmare with 0 knowledge about the encounters. That's actually crazy
When you play on Ultra Nightmare, you will almost always force by the game to use all of the weapons and equipment including the movement mechanics like dash and double jump given by the game. It is intentionally by design to make you a better DOOM Slayer. Rune selection and Sentinel Crystal routing also plays a huge factor to survive on this difficulty level. Air Control and Loot Magnet should be the first choice to pick when available.
That’s actually a really interesting idea. If the threshold of skill is pre-determinately set, then wouldn’t a new player gain a faster sense of how to navigate this difficulty? The harder enemies and finite death is already predisposed to the player, now they just have to learn how to play with what they’re dealt as opposed to a new player on a Lower difficulty, climbing in new difficulties for a game they’ve already completed.
could help in some aspects but definitely harder not knowing what's to come or even the layout or mechanics of the game/levels. And that learning process is much slower since you have to restart the game every time so stuff like the later levels are much harder and take a lot longer to learn since I can't even get there 😂
As an ultra nightmare victor you did impressively well, the first couple of levels are easily the hardest part of the whole thing and the fact you were able to make it past the 2nd level is pretty impressive imo, good job!!!!! it took me a nightmare playthrough and 50+ attempts to do it simply bc of how unforgiving the first 4 levels can be
Just wanted to say the fact that you only had 200 subs 2months ago and now have over 10k is insaine, and to say that you should try this challenge when doom the dark ages releases
This game sure has a way of humbling you when you are feeling your most confident. One minute you are 5 or 6 missions deep into the ultra nightmare run thinking "I'm unstoppable. I'm invincible. RIP AND TEAR. NOTHING CAN STOP ME" and then 5 seconds later you are dead and in disbelief because it all happpened so fast. One slip of attention or poor decision and it's all over! Here is a tip to help with the monotony of playing Hell on Earth so many times. That cacodemon that spawns up high near George, try to hit him with a sticky bomb while jumping off the van on the road. It gets to the point where you can hit him on the first shot almost every time.
The lock on burst is very strong it can kill most heavy demons with one volly or heavily injur them Heavy demons are arachatron ( brain spider ) cacodemon ( flying meat ball ) hell knight ( purple demon ) revanent ( skeleton demon ) mancubus ( fat demon ) whiplash ( snake demon )
Very nicely done, I’m impressed you got as far as you did, most struggle too much in just the first level. Would be interesting to see the same concept but with someone who has beat the game on UN coaching you throughout so you can know the best approaches and strategies
At 7:27 the reason you fell off was because of something speedrunners use called “Punch boosting” I don’t understand it either but it’s pretty funny how so far this has happened to you twice.
@ImRecap if you melee an enemy be it glory kill or a punch you get pulled towards them. If you somehow miss the enemy, you keep the speed from the pull.

I am a totally new to Doom and not particularly good at fps. Still I started it on highest difficulty (like I do with all the games) and I'm doing just fine. Not dying too many times anywhere.
@@ImRecap I'm sorry to say but... now that I have actually seen the video, you are definitely experienced in this game. And not only that, you are also showing the actual fights on a lower difficulty.
@@heavyhitman No. I have never played a doom game up until this point, but I have played FPS games my entire life. There would be no point in me changing the difficulty lower because half the point of this video was for me to die a bunch of times and struggle because that makes it more entertaining. If I change the difficulty lower it makes it less entertaining and way less intense. And it would be very easy to tell because I would be taking less damage then normal if I went to a lower difficulty. Also If I had set the difficulty lower I would've made it past level 3... You're not only saying that I've played before, but that I ALSO changed the difficulty lower... don't you think I would've gotten a little further than I did if that we're the case
@@ImRecap I'm playing Doom Eternal for the first time right now on Ultra Violence, and I've heard of the Marauders before playing. I'll just say I understand why they were so controversial when this game came out xD
Fun Fact: There are 3 demon enemy size clacifications in DOOM Eternal. Fodder, Heavy and Super Heavy. None of the ones you got to see were Super Heavy.
I wanna see you finish this game. Maybe on nightmare tho. You bit off of an impossible task trying it hardcore. Knowing where the demons spawn and having strategy for every level is important.
For what enemy types you fight and how few weapons you have, level 3 is the hardest in the game. Though this game does a much better job maintaining intensity as compared to its 2016 brother. Great job on making it as far as you did.
Man, honestly, i really liked your content, you seem like a cool RUclipsr with a great potencial, besides you are an incredible player, considering that was your first time :) keep up man, you have a great potential :) and i would like to recommend you trying to play ''Prodeus'', it's a FPS game with a retro style, mixed with modern mechanics like quick combat

I am a totally new to Doom and not particularly good at fps. Still I started it on highest difficulty (like I do with all the games) and I'm doing just fine. Not dying too many times anywhere.
nice!
I'm almost glad you didn't make to the first Marauder because that would have been devastating. Also, great vid man!
Devastating... 😳
@@ImRecap I'm playing Doom Eternal for the first time right now on Ultra Violence, and I've heard of the Marauders before playing. I'll just say I understand why they were so controversial when this game came out xD
Bro I been playing the game awhile and I died wayyyyyy more than you when I first started cranking up the difficulty good work
🙏Thank You
Good work bro, make it big

Fun Fact:
There are 3 demon enemy size clacifications in DOOM Eternal.
Fodder, Heavy and Super Heavy.
None of the ones you got to see were Super Heavy.
Oh great 🙃 that's fun
I wanna see you finish this game. Maybe on nightmare tho. You bit off of an impossible task trying it hardcore. Knowing where the demons spawn and having strategy for every level is important.
nahhhhhhhhhhhh I got it ez trust...
For what enemy types you fight and how few weapons you have, level 3 is the hardest in the game. Though this game does a much better job maintaining intensity as compared to its 2016 brother. Great job on making it as far as you did.
🙏
Playing doom like it's a rouge like
The beginning of the game, marginally harder than the later half.
Good to know
@@ImRecap trying ultra nightmare, I've died 25 times in the first 4 missions, doubting my 250 hours so hard. Loved the video!
@@Seriousizzle Thanks! Seems as though we share the same pain 😅
Anyone else want to talk about how the first ammo upgrade gives you 50% more HMG ammo but only 12% more shotgun ammo?
Such high quality video you definitely need more attention then this you were literally born to do this 💪
Thank you thank you that means a lot! 🙏
I love how people still make videos on this game four years later
A good game is a good game no matter how old it is
@@ivailok3376 Just like the classic doom games
Holy cow! When did this top tier youtuber show up? I thought you would have had way more subs then this based off the video and editing! Sub added!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks I appreciate that! Cool I'll check it out thanks!
You should try this with doom 2016 great vid btw
Thanks! I'm definitely open to it for the future
Awesome video bro!
Thank you! 🙏
Dude this had to be one of the best first attempts on the interwebs. Throwing you a sub, keep up the awesome work. I appreciate you🙏🏻🕯️
🙏 Appreciate that thank you!
7k subs?! I thought I was watching a big RUclipsr, keep up the good work bro.
🙏 I appreciate that!
Hey! You are so underrated and deserve more recognition! I liked and subbed! Keep up the good work!!! 😊
Thank you 🙏 That means a lot!
@ You’ve actually inspired me to attempt this! Although I already have a decent amount of experience in the game, I still want to see if I can get anywhere close to where you did!
This was really fun to watch, thank you for the sacrifice

Replayed this game in 2024 & forgot how good it was … The blueprint of a game making you feel like a badass ..
Never went for “Ultra Nightmare” I’m too scared 😅
