@@teeztoyz Ditto. I've had my GT Sport for 2 years. It's fun to surprise the hell out of a GTI from a red light. Never lacks power. Could it be more refined? Sure. These vehicles kept the unnecessary tech gadget clutter to a minimum (looking at you Acura). I'm a midlife lady so my tastes are different than a 25-35 male. The exterior is not youthful. The styling on this car will age much sooner than the elegant straight lines of the GTI. Also for everyday use, i would want something that is more compliant and the GTI fits all those bills. I suspect this will depreciate faster and higher to take way the notion of a more affordable comparable offering. The i30 N though, is a whole different ball game.
You make no sense. It's the exact same shell. In fact, i30 only produced 140 hp. The GT Sport aka N-Line is actually a more powerful engine. I'm not saying the US version is better. The i30 offers hatchback, fastback, and wagon bodies in sporty N-Line trim, plus they have diesel. 😩 Americans just don't buy hatches.
Definition of prejudice. Mine does 0-60 in 5.1 with a top speed of 150mph top trim for under 30k with a better warranty. Why would I pay 6k more for the same trim and a less reliable car that has dated looks? Sure, maybe if I was given a choice to pick one for free but I ain't gonna pay 6k more for slightly better performance for a car that'll never look as good - IMO

I will not buy another Hyundai, but another GTI? Anytime.
This is not an apples to apples comparison. The GT does not have the independent rear link suspension, MASSIVE handling difference!
The current 2018 and later Elantra GT a different car, first sold in Europe as the i30.
Would you take this or Kona 1.6T Ultimate?
Janoy Cresnova kona is awd.
The Kona is really fun to drive. I'd call it "spunky". But theres no comparison in true power or handling. The Kona is up on stilts. But if I still had kids, I'd likely opt for the Kona. Really left me smiling after test drives.
I don't think it should be called an N. It should at least be close to or near the Veloster N. It kinda seems like they're trying to trick people into thinking they're getting something close to the Veloster , when in fact , it's a far cry.
Ron...That's why this is an N Line model and not the full blown N. They're not tricking anyone.
N line is not the full blown N
VW has a R Line and the cars are not R's, Audi has an S Line and they are not S's.
I have one and actually I can't believe the GTI is that much better. Maybe the american version is tuned better? Mine will do 0-60 in 5.1 with a top speed of 150mph with the DCT.
@@teeztoyz Ditto. I've had my GT Sport for 2 years. It's fun to surprise the hell out of a GTI from a red light. Never lacks power. Could it be more refined? Sure. Could it be BMW level refined for under 30k USD? Nope. Can NOT get all these features at this price. I hemmed & hawwed between this & Golf-R, also the original RWD BMW X-1. These vehicles kept the unnecessary tech gadget clutter to a minimum (looking at you Acura). I'm a midlife lady so my tastes are different than a 25-35 male. The exterior is not youthful. But IMHO, this is a fine vehicle. Too bad the dealerships are clueless. I cry when I pass my old Lexus dealer.
The only con I see is that it's a Hyundai. They are not renown to being the most reliable brand (thus the warranty ) and I am speaking out of personal experience since I am at my fourth hyundai vehicle wich I am looking to change for another brand. But I have to admit that it seems nice. Still, I will go for another brand, I was just looking it up to see how it compares. Sometimes it's worth paying a bit more and have quality for your money.
Yes the VW is going to more reliable???
Hands down the GTI wins this ...this Elantra is Ok but sorry, not in the same league
Not when it comes to repairs!
Out of scope by comparing with a gti dude. Also u didn’t mention if it is a wet or dry clutch.
N for Namyang
GT I every time.
Class, breeding and pedigree shine through.
+1. .. Agreed. .. The GTI 's Econo hot-hatch recipe has a pedigree. .. I've owned an '83, an '86 and an '89 GTI. .. Good, clean, fun.
You forgot to mention repairs. VW will have more repairs
Says who?
Cheap, nasty plastic dash, really bland exterior, no class, no pedigree.
pedigree - you mean over engineered German junk that brakes down often
Wtf did I just see with the paddle shifts 🤦🏻♂️😂
😂 he was hot shifting! Lol
This car just doesn't look right from most angles. It only looks OK from the rear.
chuckwalla 2 you alone
THIS
The styling on this car will age much sooner than the elegant straight lines of the GTI. Also for everyday use, i would want something that is more compliant and the GTI fits all those bills. I suspect this will depreciate faster and higher to take way the notion of a more affordable comparable offering.
The i30 N though, is a whole different ball game.
Pankaj Nalavde actually the gti is boxy styling design , already looks outdated.
@@popsandbangs8858 your have poor superficial taste, i cant really fix the stupid. Complain to your parents
Cancelled for 2021.
VW GTI so much better!
Not when it comes to repairs!
Yes so much better when it requires expensive repairs when it breaks often. We all get mind boned by VW, some of us snap out of it.
I couldn't follow the review. The title made me laugh until the end.
Definition of prejudice. Mine does 0-60 in 5.1 with a top speed of 150mph top trim for under 30k with a better warranty. Why would I pay 6k more for the same trim and a less reliable car that has dated looks? Sure, maybe if I was given a choice to pick one for free but I ain't gonna pay 6k more for slightly better performance for a car that'll never look as good - IMO
antiquated design even if it was introduced in 2018
