I saw you working with Daniel using all the equipment. It’s so nice to see others working together to test out other equipment for use on your property.
Wow, now that is something again, a real BEAST. Really brought wide smiles to both of your faces. Oh!!! Daniel sent me. What a great family those Arms.
I watched you today on AFH and came by to subscribe, nice to see RUclipsrs working together, born and raised in Michigan and looking forward to checking out your channel!
Great video and seeing you and Daniel brought me here to see more of what you do. Working (PLAYING) with big tools is great fun. You guys look like old buddies from way back. Hope you get to do other colabs. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I’ve been lucky enough to meet Daniel three or four times in person. If you have been following him for a while, I can tell you he is exactly who you would expect him to be. Very humble and kind Thanks for watching
Came over to your channel From arms Homestead I will be glad to be watching your videos too It's awesome to see 2 RUclips's get together and collaborate
Can you post a picture of the after on those hammers under the mower? Just curious on the amount of wear on them after one mow. Nice job on pivoting and making the flail mower video.
We should have done that but I didn’t think of it at the time. I left that mower at Daniel‘s house and they are sending me another one similar to it for my tractor
@@RockhillfarmYTwould you recommend those wide knife blades for what you’re cutting or would it be better to use the smaller hammer blades where you are cutting heavy brush as well as grass? I have one on order and want to make sure I get the right blade. Thanks
Enjoyed your collaboration with Daniel. I think it’s great when y’all have guests on your videos like that and have each other’s back. New subscriber here, hoping you have a good time and look forward to being a viewer. Keep in touch and best wishes! Love watching farming/Homestead content, especially satisfying to see the before, during and after making something look amazing. Thanks for your time!
Hi! Daniel from Arms Family Homestead referred me to you! I enjoyed watching you and Daniel test out the flail mower attachment. It looked as though it is perfect for some areas of thicket and thick small tree growth, which Daniel has. That tree clipper(?) attachment was amazing, too. The flail mower leaves great mulch and saves you from having to go back and use the wood chipper.
Coming over from Arms Family Homestead! I live in Michigan. I don't have a homestead but I was raised on a farm and am a farm girl at heart. Loved watching you try out all the equipment at Daniel's and am looking forward to watching your videos!
I have started following your channel and like what I see. I have always used a Bush hog and after seeing this fail mower in action, I like what I see. As for mowing just grass, I will have to see more videos on that but most of what I do is just like what yall mowed down. Have a great day be safe
That thing surprised me it just made compost out of that stuff really did the job. Believe Daniel gonna have a blast with that thing. That's cool you left it down there so Daniel can work it give a honest review after some hours with it. That tym is a sweet tractor. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy
Good to see you both. I come from a hard core John Deere farming family. When it was time to get a tractor for my little homestead, I ended up with a TYM554H (painted green). I love this little tractor.
Personally, I believe flail mowers are better to get overgrowth back in shape fast. Brush hogs are better for mowing large areas of grass. With a blade, you get a better cut where the bits on a flail are more designed to essentially mulch up undesirable foliage.
I dont know about the cut quality, seeing how my flail gives a finnish cut like my yard mower. But hey, Ive not done extensive testing so Im not sure, just my personal observation :D
@@SwedishFarmer94 yeah, I've seen them give a pretty good cut. Definitely better than the little frontier bush hog that we use at my grandma's. She actually has a finish mower that I'm going to sell and put towards a flail mower. The flail mower also acts like a drum grinder on the smaller stuff. So that's another plus.
Let it eat!! Looks like the right size machine for that flail mower/mulcher, quite a bit larger than the 2 series JD!! Interested in your thoughts on that TYM Brock, the larger cab and such. Just what I needed, another RUclips channel to check out, LOL. While the flail will cut while going in reverse, it does a better (more thorough....) job once you go back forward over what you have knocked down. Will be interested to see the hammers after a bit more "mowing" of those larger weeds (aka small trees...) Have a good one!!
Good video. I would but the grapple at about 18 inches high and went forward pushing over the small trees and continue driving forward to mulch them up. The flail mower works best and is designed to go forward. Daniel could keep his properties well groomed with a flail mower. He needs to be sure to get the best flail mower (design) for his situation. Looking forward to more of your videos.
I have this same tractor in the 8 speed version. The electronic module for the pto failed in the first 10 minutes of use, I've been waiting over a year and TYM still has not sent me a replacement module, 6 year warranty though so they still got some time to sort it out. The drivetrain is semi stout but the wiring is pretty cheesy on these things.
Don't reverse over the trees run them over with the tractor the flail mower will grip the base of them then and mulch them, that's what I do anyway and it works fine.
Thanks for coming over. I do a lot of equipment review stuff and tractor work. Macchio is going to send me a smaller flail mower that fits my tractor and I left that big one at Daniel‘s house
I was wondering the same thing at first and then I realized the mower is belt driven so it doesn’t really need a slip clutch. The belts just slip if it gets in a bind.
Thanks for making the trip and bringing the mower down! It was a great day for sure!
great machine to reclaim the land and put mulch down at the same time. Big benefit to the wildlife. Great Vid

Awesome video, Brock! Great way to make the best out of an implement you couldn’t use.
Thank you sir
