    I have one of these and love the results. What I had added was a float on the control for the head angle, that way you can put it in float and let the roller on the back control the pitch back and forth for the level. Just pull it up off the float for cornering or when you lift the mower.

    Farming is hard work, never doubt that, but modern machinery like that tractor sure makes it a lot easier on the body. The old style tractors without a closed cabin saved your muscles. This one saves your back with it's gas hydraulic seat suspension and your lungs with the filtered ventilation system. It doesn't make farming simple or easy, but every bit helps.

      I'm sure his farm is like mine. If you turn your back for a minute on a field it will sprout pines and cedars. I let them have about 8 acres. The pines and Sassafras come in first and eventually shade out the blackberry briers. Then hardwoods will start to grow up between the pines and take over.

    If you have a tractor that has a float on the three point you let the mower float on the ground. Ground speed fast enough to load the mower makes the product stay in the mower longer and mulches finer. And it you stay away from tree branches to not scratch tractor and come back the other way you clean under the branches that need trimmed up by standing the mow up and clear them backto make another pass trimming backmore.

    I have a broom strapped to the boom that I use for clearing the rotary deck, windows, and I have a hand brush and broom in the cab for clearing the grill and the radiator screens. Out here in Texas i the summer, the tractor keeps cool until 94 F usually. I take a break and brush off the grill and the hydraulic cylinders from time to time. Then maybe twice a day pull the radiator screens and clean them out. I really like that off-set flail you have. That would work real great close to fences compared to our JD MX10 rotary.

  • @civildk9077
    @civildk9077 3 года назад +1

    I've seen it's predecessor, and logged a lot of 9 years on it... these things are AWESOME!! Does yours have a roller on it (that red thing, behind and to the left of the blades)? IF, you tilt the axis up in the front and use that roller MORE, you won't have to feather it SO MUCH (IT WILL MULCH / TILL the soil) but be prepared for any boulders / objects, THAT'S where your attention should be, with your hand on the lever to raise it, ONLY THEN. My pro tip. (btw, I probably, personally, wore out / down, round 300-600 of those small flails, and replaced / sharpened them, myself). HINT. Maintain PTO output speed, but, slow tractor speed for better performance, to hopefully prevent 're-cutting' aka double effort. Oh, and insure we check that gearbox oil / seals and pto sleeve often and grease appropriately.

We've had ours for over 20yrs and got to have the engineers from TYM come out to see us use it about 6 mths after we got it. They were very impressed if a little cautious to let us know to put more oil in if we were to continue using it on the "big mountain". Ours is set to full width and the tyres are 1/2 to 3/4 filled with water because we live in the hills (your mates hills and valleys are like our flats). Form our point of view, we can't really justify the cost of the machine for our own use, so if we went that route, it would need to pay for itself, but it looks just ideal for what we need to do to clear our neglected areas.

    I use a John Deere 2850 with a 2,20 meter Stark mower, and it just plows trough all the grass there is. A small box works way better than a bigger box. We also got a Kverneland mower, but the results are not as good as my Stark mower.

      I would say they are probably ant hills. We have them everywhere and that is what they look like when I run over them.

    If you put a bucket or grapple on the front of the tractor, you could knock the bigger stuff down to make it easier to cut up.

    Every year the town does down my ditch tree branches and grass with two passes they use them here in Maine to give you a buffer area to see deer and moose a little sooner so there aren't so many hit cause man they just come out of nowhere on a dead run especially when the horse flies are driving them
