This is probably the cleanest and most useful Packet Mod I've seen thus far, and one that I would actually consider taking the time to imitate as closely as possible. It would be awesome if there was a way to hide the extra cords behind the wooden top plate, but other than that, it's darn near perfection! thanks for taking the time to show us the details of the build brotha!
very awesome just ordered the gas struts to start my own build! I will probably use a male bulkhead plug and just keep a small coil extension cord in the box
This is next level thinking. It's freaking awesome. As much as I really want to win the one your giving away, it's probably too late. So I'm really glad you made it easy to make for others. I appreciate it. One more thing milwaukee makes many different sizes for packouts what else or any other ideas to use to do like 3 or more charging station.
I like the over all design, particularly the use of the struts which are fantastic. But there are a few tweaks I would probably make. The first one that came to mind, was that maybe I want to charge with the lid closed, with something else stacked on top. You could cut some holes in the side of the Packout and attach standard PC cooling fans for airflow allowing the box to be closed while still in use, you can even put some filter material over the openings to prevent it from sucking in a ton of dust. The other thing is that the cable might be convenient in some ways, but I think it would end up inconvenient in others. I would probably opt for a C13 socket on the back, and put a couple of cord wrapping hooks inside the case to store a cable. My key rationale for this, is that I would almost certainly want a power distribution system for my Packout stack - such as a power bar mounted to the wheeled bottom box or hand truck. In such a case, I would keep a standard C13 cord connected to the power bar so that I could plug in my charging station but could easily unplug from the back of the charging station and move it without needing to find where the other end of the cord plugged in. Finally, when I saw the dummy plug I initially thought you were going to do something slightly different than what you did. That extension cord you had had 3 outlets but you only needed two. You could actually run a short extension from the third outlet to an externally mounted socket just to give yourself an extra place to plug something else in.
Nice concept well planed and executed the only thing i would add is a wall over the struts so they do not interfere with batterys or leads in the back compartments other than that well done.
This was really sweet idea, too bad I just recently got into Packouts around November 2023 so I’m sure you already did the giveaway. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this at all, if anything I would add a heating device too it if your taking it out with you to work and it’s cold. An old worn out or damaged Milwaukee hoodie/jacket. Take the guts and you get the rest of the idea, I’ve seen someone recently line/heat up their Packout. Great for epoxy and batteries. Same concept! 👊👊👊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Loved the project it’s such a great way to keep your batteries organized. I would recommend maybe the new insulated box if your in an environment where it gets really cold so you can leave your batteries in your truck, trailer or job site and not have them effected and another recommendation I would make is to 3d print a holder for an apple air tag or tick just to keep track of it because I’m sure other people on the job site when they see it they might want to keep it for themselves
you did a great job. very well thought out. I really like the gas struts idea, I don't know any way I would personally improve it. you hit the nail on the head
It already had by the time of your comment. If you are looking to build one yourself, check out this kit of all of the required parts I made here- crkcustomdesigns.com/store
3D printing keeps working its way into packout mods more and more. It's a great way to mod adapters for other brands and to make compartments for inside to efficiently store parts and tools. I'm slowly learning how to design parts myself
Man that is the best packout mod video I have ever seen!! Haters gonna hate boss LOL I love this!! I would be honored to call this my own and blessed for this to be my first addition of a packout set!! Truly Awesome and thank you for your time and dedication put into video!!Keep them coming too...... -#1Fann
Awesome video and clean installation instructions. Honestly couldn’t think of anything else you can do to the box. Very clean and fits perfect with any packout set up! Definitely would love to have this with my set up!
Great set up and easy to follow video. I think your design makes a lot of sense. Is there a reason why you chose this box over others? I know you wanted to be able to carry it easily and the depth helps with mounting the chargers but we’re there any other characteristics you considered?
This box is the easiest to carry by far. I don't have enough batteries to even consider a larger one, and the smaller ones wouldn't hold enough. It was a great middle ground. On top of that, the half width stacks are my favorite.
I don’t know why some people would be upset with these decisions. It’s a great build and as you said makes things very convenient. Great build man. I’d love to out this to use. Good luck everyone
Awesome build. I’m loving the 3D printed handle it really looks original. The only thing I could honestly think that could be changed is maybe a black power strip. Honestly a cool idea bro.
Honestly is just the way I would do it the only difference is using one of the wider pack outs. To put either rapid chargers or super charges milwalkee offers
Thank you for sharing this brilliant idea. I can definitely use this in my packout stack. I think you covered everything in one video and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Good luck to everyone. Im
I think you did a really good job. I did a similar thing myself, I’m on the Bosch eco system so it was in an ‘L-Boxx’. (I actually prefer the pack outs, but a lot of my tools come in the L-Boxx’s). An extra thing I added was an 18v-120v inverter which is useful for usb power and low draw 120v devices. I also got a usb heat pad to keep my batteries warm when working in the winter(I live in Canada🥶), then it’s easy to take the whole thing in over night.
Wire the plug receptacle on the back of the box to the third plug on your triple tap on the inside of the box. That way when you plug the charging station to the wall you don’t lose access to an outlet. Now you can plug in your Milwaukee radio charge another battery and your phone with usb, or an extension cord to a 360, tower, or rocket lMilwaukee light while only using one job site plug.
Awesome build planning to model this and pass on to my coworkers. Having a changer station/battery holder is vital in the rough CO winters where they destroy your tools. Keep innovating!
You really gave it this project a lot of thought... AWESOME JOB! You should look at selling these before Milwaukee steaks your idea! This would make a great gift for anyone, even me! LoL 👊👍
Pretty cool idea bro! Almost went to sleep with the elevator music and that deep voice😂🤣 you can probably make some pretty good money doing some audio books. Just saying lol
Neat concept! As My Kits are the biggest part of My job. I appreciate the improvements You've made from Your first chargingbox. I would incorporate My other brand of charger for versatility.
Wow bro I would love to have that charger station, I just started my pack out collection but I am not a contractor or anything like that just a DIY guy that lives full-time in my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus .
This is awesome! Great idea and have been wondering about some type of charging/storage system for my batteries. Don't know when the giveaway is but I'd love this thing.
that's neat how you hang the the extension cord on the back of the box. now add a retractable extension core in there and send me the "charging station" with your batteries (you forget to take out) to me. thanks bro :D
Love this and would love to win, and if do win; I’d change the big grommet to a more finished permanent look; how, not sure but everything else is pretty awesome, and do like. Let’s face it, these ammo boxes are a bit odd to begin w/, so by it do something “interesting” to set them even more apart.
Nice and Clean, good work. Only thing I would add is a couple charger cords into the power strip for charging phones or Bluetooth speakers but that doesn't require a box mod.
i had previously screwed my charger to the holes in the lid and it worked but barley. This is a much more thought out set up to move and. large batteries. Will definitely be making my own if I'm not lucky enough to get that one. Keep thinking outside the box!
I would love to have this. I currently have a couple of chargers and about a dozen of batteries and keeping track of them all gets a little crazy. Maybe add a LED light so when you open the lid you could see your batteries better.
This is actually a brilliant idea, I would like to make something like this or even better win it lol.. I actually won’t change anything I would leave it the way it is perfection.. good luck everyone
This would be sweat, not sure it would be good for me since I’ve been telling my red tool addicted self that I don’t need to collect packout too, but that sounds like a problem I can live with
Really love this idea man! Have a ton of red products and my dead batteries just go in an old toolbox when on-site. Ive never bit the bullet on packout yet. I may have to do so now 💸🤦♂️lol nicely done ✅
Really like the project easy way to have all of the battery’s together only thing I’d change is the extension lead but that’s just because I’m in the uk
thats really sweet. i have a 46 inch milwaukee tool box and have the chargers mounted on the side with my pakcout system next to it, thing is it doesnt look as sleek in comparison to this because of the cables being hung. but this would be a sweet addition to what i currently have on my packout!
The project looks great!!!! Would you mind sharing your cut/ material list if you kept one? I would like to also build this guy and having a build plan would take the guess work out :)
Well done! It's a bummer we can't get these from milwaukee meanwhile FLEX gets it and has brackets available that adjust to all their charger styles for the inner lid of their STACK PACK. Wanna make me one? LOL, seems straight forward the only killer is most people don't own a 3D printer for specific things like those spacers for the struts.
Ok, you completely sold me on this box idea. Now! What are the chances of you selling the 3D printed parts you made? To be honest. I’m almost willing to just buy the whole set up from you minus the chargers of course. But either way if your willing to at least sell the 3D printed parts please let me know. Oh! and the charging station tag too 😂😂
I'm not planning on selling the parts because I don't have time to run an ecommerce store right now. I did make the printable files available, though- you could take those to someone to have them printed up.
I think it's amazing. The shocks a Great idea. Smart low profile plug . I'd suggest using a black corded plug. This is exactly what I need to organize my 18 volt batteries with my M12. Awesome video! Thanks for the idea with the gas struts and the entire build. I just starting looking for ways to figure out how to stay organized with my batteries and keep them charging from the elements. Awesome idea. I have nothing to change but maybe a different color cord to black but that’s so it would match the color scheme but it don’t really matter. I like that cord your using because it don’t stick out and it’s low profile. This unit is ready for the job site. Thanks for making this video.
At the start of the video I was already impressed! And the struts help it stays up and not being wobbly or closing itself if it was knocked by accident
dude! this is awesome! I'm a mechanic, have been for 15 years, Love Milwaukee tools and let me just say disregard the "naysayers".. this is purely genius and awesome in every way. liked and subscribed. props dude! 👌
Nice DYI walk through. I like that you explained why you did things your way, one setup isn't going to work for everyone or please everyone's aesthetic, I do like that 3d printed latch.
Yeah, this is one of those project that could be done 100 different ways. That's why I made the video, so whoever wants to can take the concept and modify to their own liking.
Proud Milwaukee nerd ! The quality power and dependability of their stuff outstanding. I know it's not Ryobi, my first choice (not) ha ha . You get what you pay for !
I love this idea as I also use M12 and M18 batteries. I love the lack of clutter for chargers and batteries and conveniently located in one box. I wouldn't change anything and if don't win yours I will be building one for myself. Thanks for the idea!
That's a nice design. I like the lift assist. Makes it open easy and holds it open to give air flow for the chargers. Having the cord going through the side keeps it neat and easy access. The outlet keeps the plug from getting damaged while not being used and someplace to get extra power if you need it to say charge your phone. Nice design I wouldn't mind one. You could adapt it easily for other tool chargers too
Very cool mod. Great video, great supply list. I added an IEC power inlet with lighted switch, USB A and C charging on the side of the box, and and extra outlet. I'd post pictures if I only knew how.
This is probably the cleanest and most useful Packet Mod I've seen thus far, and one that I would actually consider taking the time to imitate as closely as possible.

It uses a 3 outlet strip, and one outlet is still unused.
Nice concept well planed and executed the only thing i would add is a wall over the struts so they do not interfere with batterys or leads in the back compartments other than that well done.

An insulated box could help but I think it may just delay the time before temps are too low or high, not fully protect them.
I like your idea, thanks for sharing.
Did you try a recoil cord to fit inside of box that would be really nice . Much easier when finished
Nice build. You could add a USB port to charge your phone on the outside of the box too.
I think I should.
Brilliantly done sir!
What about the battery off gassing when charging? Should be in a ventilated area, maybe a little fan inside there with vent holes.. cool idea here

Proud Milwaukee nerd ! The quality power and dependability of their stuff outstanding. I know it's not Ryobi, my first choice (not) ha ha . You get what you pay for !
Very useful, thank you for the idea kind sir!
Glad it was helpful!
Great job! That would work perfect on my side by side 🤤
I love this idea as I also use M12 and M18 batteries. I love the lack of clutter for chargers and batteries and conveniently located in one box. I wouldn't change anything and if don't win yours I will be building one for myself. Thanks for the idea!
That is so epic! Go team red
You could adapt it easily for other tool chargers too
very cool idea, I love people's creativity with this system
Probably the only reason I'd buy a pack out, battery sprawl is real. Great job.
Thought my RUclips app was messing up or the edit was messed up with that very first dead silent shot
Haha, yeah I should've had some audio there. I confused myself with that as well.
Great job, look perfect
This is badass, only thing is I use that same box for my batteries, but there's no room for dividers or chargers lol
A lot of people use more batteries than me I realize now.
@@ironpixeldesigns I mean I have 4 batteries for every tool I have, and then a few extra that box hold half of my batteries haha
Very cool mod. Great video, great supply list. I added an IEC power inlet with lighted switch, USB A and C charging on the side of the box, and and extra outlet. I'd post pictures if I only knew how.
Those are things I thought about adding as well. That's the nice thing about this project- it's configurable for specific needs.
