@@blackcath3dral - yes, anything that isn't made of metal is an option, however those earbuds can leave little bits of residue behind, and also are often not hard enough to pick up and scrape off the little bits of crud in there. Worth a short if you have nothing else! A wooden skewer will work too.

I had issues with the earphone jack and charging port. It would occasionally work but has been loose quite a lot. After watching your video I established that it was dirty and needed to be cleaned. I used to have the problem of my phone not playing any sound because the crud was gathering on the contacts and the device thought it was connected to a dock so it would disable the speakers. I’ve always used a toothpick to clear the dirt that gathers in the ports. Had this problem occur three times total and all three were fixed in less than 20”. Solid advice Always be extra careful when you stick pointy objects in sensitive electronics, although toothpicks are soft enough that they can’t cause damage to the internal, I believe.

I accidentally dropped my sister's phone on grass and the earphone jack got dirt in it so I'm looking for ways to take it out to help her so you really are helpful ♥︎
So I managed to fix it without having to get it sent to someone to fix. I took a small piece of foil and wrapped it around the earphone jack and sent it in slowly. Once it bit inside I twisted the jack and got it to work. I now have sound with music and with voice.
Nice one! Yes, sometimes it takes 30 seconds, but other times you can be digging in there for a while before you get it cleaned out. Worth it to get working headphones again!

It took forever but I kept digging and two nice size bundles came out, and a few small leftovers. Back in action!
Nice one! Yes, sometimes it takes 30 seconds, but other times you can be digging in there for a while before you get it cleaned out. Worth it to get working headphones again!
