One thing that is for sure is that Paul and Gene sure took a piss on the KISS legacy in their attempt to change the band as little as possible while doing away with two members. Changing the band as little as possible seems like a good strategy to continue with the success of the original line-up, but it's cheap and tacky, like a cheap imitation name brand.
how to tell a good band from an amateur band: if the band messes up at the beginning, the good band will keep playing until the problem sorts itself out. an amateur band will start over. KISS forever \m/

I seriously doubt that the drummer could hear what was going on through his monitor because if he's in Gene fucking Simmons' band, it's not like he's not played that song a thousand and one times! Don't be too harsh on the lad - I'm a pro drummer myself, and I've been in this same kind of situation before, where there's bad sound or no sound coming out of my monitor and you can't tell where the hell you are in the song! Sometimes you just go with it, and others, especially if you're young and inexperienced, that you panic - even though you know the song inside and out and you drop a beat. Once he was on the same page with everyone else, there was no issue with his playing - in fact, he didn't miss another queue the whole song. In other words, give the poor guy a break!
Agreed. It's easy to critique unless you've been there. The guy didn't get to be on that stage by being a shitty drummer. At the very least, he's a competent experienced professional drummer. Fuck ups happen, especially when it's loud, and less than well rehearsed.
Doesn't explain why his tempo is good through measure 3, only to completely blow it as soon as the band kicks in. He could hear fine for three measures prior to that. There's a LOT of truth to the old notion that,as a drummer,when you begin to speed up,it's a LOT harder to slow down than if you're too slow and need to speed up. A competent drummer would have been able to gradually bring this tempo down to where it needed to be,IF he recognized that he was speeding up in the first place.
This is a tough one. I've been listening to this allot to try to figure out what happened. Sounds more like his monitors had Gene and the band in them but not Ace. So he was able to hear Ace acoustically until everyone came in. Then he was trying to figure out who to follow from what was coming from the monitor. He should have just stuck to his guns, kept tempo and not panicked. It's hard to tell but it did seem like he slowed a bit which made Ace sound ahead of the beat. Then he tried to catch up and all hell broke loose (excuse the pun). The more I listen the more it sounds like Ace was spot on but then couldn't recover from the drummers fuck up. Sounds like the whole intro is off kilter until the verse starts. Let's face it - it's a nightmare situation for a pro at that age.
A good drummer will rehearse the song beforehand. He will also know the song without the need to hear anyone else. Know your part. Getting lost during a song I am performing on stage? Never heard of it. Forgetting lyrics is one thing. Drums? Know your part. I once learned a 40 minute set on a cheap Walkman on a noisy train on the way to the gig. Keep it simple, do what you gotta do. Not knocking the guy, he's solid...just my 2 cents.

Everything is going fine until .50 when Ace strays from his part.....jumps back in and throws everything off. The band did follow Ace.....right down a hole. There's 2 other guitar players there + Gene.....let them do they're job Ace.....lol.

Heard from the guy who posted this video - he said that Ace was sober right before the show. So I was wrong to think he was drunk. My apologies Spaceman! You still do a hell of a good "drunk" walk for a sober guy :) Just glad you are still in good health.
Always good to look around at things posted during the day before saying stuff Ace clearly stated in the press conference he had been sober 11 years i think it gave himself great pleasure knowing that Gene was next to him hearing it as he said this time as there was no interference or chance Gene would not hear it

I think it`s real simple. Gene and Ace has known each other for over 40 years..their stuck with each other..Ace would allways be Ace and Gene understands that now he`s all grown up at last..

There is no way Gene and Paul don't see $$$$$ symbols at the prospect of having a reunion. Money can make people forget they don't like each other. I REALLY hope this is the 1st block in building a reunion/farewell world tour. It can only be good for everyone involved. Peter will have the hardest time doing it, but I would come back from the grave if someone offered me millions to get in shape and play with people who don't really approve of me, lol. When the rest of the band joins in with that big ringing/sustaining chord, Ace is "NOT' suppose to break his riff temp by joining the rest of the band.....the intro riff stays constant. But that is what he did for just long enough to get out of time. Open another RUclips window and compare the studio & live versions to this reunion. It shouldn't even be up for debate.

Yea Gene's voice has held up pretty well over the years considering, he gargled with kerosene every night he played with Kiss for the fire breathing trick. Can't be good on the vocal chords, while poor Paul's voice is just shredded. It's kinda depressing, because Paul was such a great singer, and now his voice is just shot, no upper register at all. Although his low register still sounds pretty good. Do wish these guys would do a no make up jeans and tshirt casual sort of tour, just old friends hanging out jamming so classic tunes, would be great
it was very cool despite gene throwing little digs like ace wrothe this all by himself anyway,when you got together in the beginning it was four friends that were hungry to make and literally hungry,it was a special partnership,despite all their differences and what this one did or what that one did etc you guys should be able toput the past behind life is so short and hate etc doesnt belong we are all here trying to do the best we can.i gre up with kiss and i love you guys,the original kiss.you guys changed many peoples lives,thank you!!!!
Nostalgia was there, but aces guitar playing is long gone. I know there are many old school kiss fans who will be biased and disagree wth me by any guitarist with honest ears can see how sloppy ace is now, and his closing solo was nothing but random senseless notes with no feel. Yikes. Was hoping one of the other guitarists would step in and solo for him.
