Paul at his vocal best, a great reminder Kiss were an awesome hair band and the unmasked era spawned some of their best songs. Strip away the makeup sideshow and Kiss was good to the bone.
I love the 70s kiss more but that doesn’t mean I don’t like hair band era kiss. I actually prefer some of their songs and albums more than some big hair metal bands at the time.

I mean, just LOOK at those amazingly deep, deep backbends Paul does throughout this video!!! The video was shot in 1987. No wonder he had to have hip-replacement surgeries at age 52 in 2004! Such a well-trained body, but he puts an awful lot of pressure on his hips. And just think how many takes he had to do in the making of the music video!!! And he did those same backbends on tours as well. I truly admire him, such dedication to Kiss, making lyrics, music (with a deaf right ear!), pushing Gene to take more part in the band, taking care of not only his physique but also his singing voice, not lip-syncing during live performances, having a very positive, resilient outlook on life, giving very good life advice in his books and on his Instagram, finding long-lasting happiness with Erin, having lovely children, his oldest son Evan making his own music... Plus Paul Stanley is such a hottie!!!
Some accuse them of selling out and chasing trends of the hour, but their ability to reinvent themselves and still work within the new prevailing style has kept their career a lot more varied and interesting. I’ll take that any day over static bands who do the same thing for 40 years.

This song should have been a big hit. It suffered from timing, as the album came out after GnR's Appetite For Destruction, which started taking rock back to a more raw, unprocessed vibe. Paul was at the peak of his vocal abilities here and Bruce's solos on the Crazy Nights album are to die for -- just so tasteful and in the front of the mix. This may have been my favorite lineup of KISS -- at least, musically. Just at the top of their game, with incredible, energetic live shows as well. What a fantastic era for them -- often doesn't get enough credit.
Funny I just wrote before that I was at the concert of guns and roses about 30 years ago and he was so drunk that he almost felt from the stage! And that I would have much prefered the Kiss Concert!
I liked your post but this song didn't just suffer from timing, it also suffered from being a derivative clone of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" and.... the fact that it was a song from Kiss, which, smartly, radio refuses to play. I don't get why people say KISS sucked when they took the makeup off. I'm only 13 and I love every KISS era. I even love the disco era of KISS. KISS forever.
I feel its because Kiss became more of Pauls identity in the unmasked era, which seems much more romantic. A lot of Kiss fans are kinda.....grungy. So songs about love and romance werent really their thing.

And my only reasoning is the kids that put Kiss down never so much listened to them. And another thing is the kids knew that it used to always irritate me. Eric Carr was not just a GREAT drummer, but could play guitar, bass and keyboards! He was also a songwriter! But Paul and Gene didn't give a darn about anybody else's songwriting skills but their own. Eric was an artist as well. He came up with cartoon/comic book like group of big haired musicians called the Rockheads. Eric Carr was a truly multi-talented, multi-faceted individual . More so than either of the other 2 drummers for KISS, Peter Criss and Eric Singer. That's why Paul Charles Caravello(Eric Carr) was hands-down the ABSOLUTE BEST MOST INCREDIBLE DRUMMER KISS EVER HAD!!! F-CK YOU PAUL AND GENE!!!!

I have been a Kiss fan for 41 years. My first experience was watching Kiss Alive II while my father was passed out drunk as usual; on the couch. From that moment on, I was hooked and never looked back. Kiss Alive II pulled me through a dark depressive period of cruel parentage. This is my first time hearing this song. Of significance, Gene keeps his tongue in cheek and his mouth closed. Finally, the God of Thunder kept his gift to women shut. Keep up the good work, Gene!

I love Paul’s voice. Even though I knew who KISS was growing up I didn’t start listening to them until the last couple of weeks and I’m hooked.
This song should have been a big hit. It suffered from timing, as the album came out after GnR's Appetite For Destruction, which started taking rock back to a more raw, unprocessed vibe. Paul was at the peak of his vocal abilities here and Bruce's solos on the Crazy Nights album are to die for -- just so tasteful and in the front of the mix. This may have been my favorite lineup of KISS -- at least, musically. Just at the top of their game, with incredible, energetic live shows as well. What a fantastic era for them -- often doesn't get enough credit.

I liked your post but this song didn't just suffer from timing, it also suffered from being a derivative clone of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" and.... the fact that it was a song from Kiss, which, smartly, radio refuses to play.
For all their massive popularity and incredible music, most of which I love, they've rightfully earned their matinee status on the billboard.

I don't get why people say KISS sucked when they took the makeup off. I'm only 13 and I love every KISS era. I even love the disco era of KISS. KISS forever.
I feel its because Kiss became more of Pauls identity in the unmasked era, which seems much more romantic.
A lot of Kiss fans are kinda.....grungy. So songs about love and romance werent really their thing.

I can only take a guess as to why people kept saying they sucked back in the day. I heard the same thing from kids I went to school with in the 80's/90"s. And my only reasoning is the kids that put Kiss down never so much listened to them. And another thing is the kids knew that it used to always irritate me. I never stooped to these kids' level of immaturity and never hurled an insult back at the lame boy bands they loved. I knew I was in one of the best fan clubs that ever existed. I was in the KISS Army [unofficially] that is. 🤓
Ron Nevison told me once that Tom Kelly is not singing the high backing vocal on this recording but man it sure sounds like him. If it's Paul, then my respect...sounds like an A5 note before the modulation.

Eric Carr was not just a GREAT drummer, but could play guitar, bass and keyboards! He was also a songwriter! But Paul and Gene didn't give a darn about anybody else's songwriting skills but their own. Eric was an artist as well. He came up with cartoon/comic book like group of big haired musicians called the Rockheads. Eric Carr was a truly multi-talented, multi-faceted individual . More so than either of the other 2 drummers for KISS, Peter Criss and Eric Singer. That's why Paul Charles Caravello(Eric Carr) was hands-down the ABSOLUTE BEST MOST INCREDIBLE DRUMMER KISS EVER HAD!!! F-CK YOU PAUL AND GENE!!!!

This video is very good for the following reasons to live: first, the song is great, with an overwhelming sound, a rhythm of pleasant and well executed and full of feeling. Second, the way the musicians add a mixture of excitement and intrigue to the song. Finally, the female protagonist is extremely beautiful, and his appearances further enhance the song and video if possible. Good taste and good know-how make! It hard to find songs as beautiful today.

From that moment on, I was hooked and never looked back. Kiss Alive II pulled me through a dark depressive period of cruel parentage. This is my first time hearing this song. Of significance, Gene keeps his tongue in cheek and his mouth closed. Finally, the God of Thunder kept his gift to women shut. Keep up the good work, Gene!
