  • What a great concert. 73-year old original members (born only 3 days apart) Phil Ehart on drums and Rich Williams on lead guitar (far left) can still ROCK. That's longtime member, 71-year old Billy Greer, bass guitarist, doing the intro. And Ronnie Platt on lead vocals sounded really good too impressively hitting many of the higher notes (but he's "only" 63).

Awesome. I believe that's when Steve Walsh (aka, "the voice of Kansas", IMO) was back with the band.
BTW, just saw KISS two days ago and posted some videos. A cool moment (again IMO but probably not for everyone 🙄) was when Paul Stanley took a timeout in the middle of the show to pay a tribute to our country, our flag and all those that are or have served in the armed forces. Then he had us all say the Pledge of Allegiance. Wish I recorded it but it's probably up somewhere...U-S-A!

"The voice of Kansas" has no peers. Though I think Ronnie Platt has been doing an excellent job, at 63-years old even, taking over after Steve left the second time. I also enjoyed John Elefante's contributions after Steve originally left which were very different in style but possibly better suited to the type of popular music at that time (the 80's).

This entire show was excellent. My seat was probably 4-5 rows just behind where this video clip was shot. This was my 5th time seeing Kansas, the first time being in 78 or 79. About 15 years ago they did a free show in Blue Ash in northern Cincinnati which was awesome. I carried my vinyl of their first album with me and fortunately I was able to meet up with Rich and he signed it. When I heard they were going to be in Cincinnati for this Anniversary tour, I was logged into to Ticket Bastard the day tix went on sale punching buttons at 10am trying to grab decent seats. They're my all-time favorite band and I'm really glad to see that they're still out there rockin'. : )

It still sounds perfect after all these years.

Cassette tapes actually ARE making a "comeback" similar to vinyl several years ago. My thought it that they are "retro" and "cool" for the younger generations and provides nostalgia for the baby boomers...and the tapes are cheaper than vinyl and smaller and easier to store (possibly taking up less space than even CDs???). The 8-track tapes got "skipped over" so doubt there will be a rejuvenation of that format. So start making those "mixtapes", put them in your giant "boombox" that you carry around on your shoulder (wish I still had mine....) and start rocking/rapping/metaling(?).

Hey!!!! What was that strange moment when the guys started the song with only their voices?? Very interesting! I've heard stories from long ago, but I just didn't believe it was possible. I'm amazed at how they got the auto-trac and auto-tune to work like that with for or five people singing at once. Some ancient words are coming back to me now. Harmony and harmonizing! If only people could sing and play without backing tracs and auto-tune. I bet it would be amazing and look very similar to what these guys just did! Must be some sorcery at work.

Was actually my 1st concert in late 1970's. I remember the singer would do hand stands on his Keyboard.
