When you saw this "Special Presentation" Clip you knew something good was coming on...CARTOONS AT NIGHT!!! Kids these days don't know how good they've got it
It is today. The prior calls were WOIC (from 1949 to 1950 - originally a sister station of New York's WOR-TV), then WTOP, followed by WDVM, and now WUSA.
I remember back then when "CBS Presentation Speical" part came on, there was no announcement after that. They will then show Charlie Brown cartoon or other specials. Anyway, the presentaion have always been my favorite part before any other features. Thank you!
Holiday specials for kids. Just think! Grocery shopping, cake making, present wrapping, flying reindeer, jelly beans and plastic sweet smelling grass with collorful eggs, toasted hot dog buns, fireworks, Christmas trees, funny trick or treating, pumpkins etc all rolled up in a 7 second announcement. YAY!
I don't think I've ever recall seeing that Charlie Brown special when I was a child. There are many Charile Brown Specials I haven't seen on TV in over 15 years.
Yep. She's been with WJLA since '95; she was reunited with her longtime colleague, Gordon Peterson, in 2004 when Peterson left WUSA for WJLA. They now co-anchor the 6 p.m. news there.
Either that, the Muppets or Fat Albert. That was the only time we could talk Mom into staying up on a school night to watch it because everyone knew these cartoons only came on once a year. No DVDs, no Cartoon Network around to loop the same show every two days; you had a lot of explaining to do at school if you missed it the night before.

It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown
Good Times - "The Family Gun" (repeat from 9/16/75)
The clarity's astonishing from when it was taped in 1976. You must've did an excellent job perserving that 30+ year old copy. :D

WUSA 9 in the 70’s as WTOP-TV and in the 80’s as WDVM but now they are WUSA from the call letters of KARE and there is KUSA.
The graphic animation for the 70's intro were spectacular and as a graphic artist i can appreciate it now
Why the heck does one simple network special ident cause such GOOSEBUMPS AND CHILLS?
Unexpected announcer?
