First heard this in Summer, 1979...totally blew me away. This song, "Frederick", and a cover of The Byrds' sonic tour de force "So You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star" I listened to non-stop that summer. Patti's got that special something in her voice that pulls the listener in by the balls, as if she's demanding that you listen to her. She doesn't have an operatic singing voice like Pat Benatar, or the soft lilt of Joni Mitchell, yet she makes every song her own...every phrase, every word from the heart...and that's indeed what sets her apart from every other female solo rock act. Thanks for the upload, it wasn't wasted on this fan.
1978. Seattle. Paramount Theater. I fell in Love with Patti. 2001. Mural. Amphitheater Seattle. Took my young sons. 10yo went missing. Suddenly there he is on stage w Patti. She was calling out my name. Apparently he'd gotten Backstage and schmoozed with the Band. They Loved him! But they had to go play music. I was impressed at my son's abilities! He's 31 now and I'm Still Impressed! Saw Patti 78-04. Every Damn Show/ reading. Yeah, she knew me. She got to know my kid better! 😉
