Saw him do this in concert. You're sitting there listening and watching him play, then suddenly realize he's been playing flawlessly for about five minutes like there's nothing to it. True professional.
One of the most significant artists in country music today...he smokes all those new Nashville wanna b's to high heaven..Love Marty...the Rolls Royce of Country musicians
I was asked to sing Marty Stuart song at a friend's father's funeral some years back. Of course I obliged, learned it, and did it. It was the first I had ever heard of him. Talented dude!
I just watched the PBS documentary on country music by Ken Burns. I had no idea how talented Marty Stuart was from such a young age. That documentary gave me a whole new appreciation for him as a musician. This video just showcases that ability, thank you very much for posting.
I will never forget seeing Marty do this in a little old town of Leroy New York a few years back. Smokin hot picking! Played it just as if he was at the grand old oprey, perfect as you please! Love all Marty’s shows! A gift from God to us!
No, the amazing thing is he *didn't* sell his soul. That is what makes Marty Stuart so very, very special. He stayed true to the roots of the tradition.
There are mandolin players and then you have Marty Stewart. Never been recognized as the great mandolin player he truly is. He played my mandolin at a festival one time. His name is on it too.
This mandolin is exactly why I've seen Marty Live 15 times as many will chose Ricky Scaggs as the best but to me MARTY is GOAT playing that priceless piece!!
He did a similar performance in clear lake Iowa at the surf ballroom back about 6 years ago. Simply amazing talent ! He is on my bucket list to see again live in this life.
Marty clearly loves every aspect of playing and performing. Clearly loves practicing mandolin and guitar. You don’t get this good ~ and get better ~ unless practicing nourishes your soul. I’ve seen videos of him grinning at other musicians, just checking out their technique likely to learn something new, enjoying making music, working hard doing it. I get it.
I saw the greats at Sun Set Park , in Pa . I’m old, they told me I saw Hank Williams, but I don’t remember . We are real northerners but the Sun Set was just fun.
ArgyleGroove He played in Linden Texas just a few miles away on the 10th. I could kick myself for not getting a ticket before it sold out. I would love to see him play live.
Where did I ever think Mr rouse was a craven County NC man? I wish someone would clear this up for me.as Marty said Ervin Thomas Rouse was a Florida native? I'm fully aware of the orange blossom trail round Orlando and I ain't seen many oranges here in Carolina or blossoms lol but I was raised hearing that this was an Eastern NC written or composed tune.NC already brags of the first flight and it kinda got ohio a little sore about it lmao.cam someone clear up this thing about Mr Rouse and his orange blossom special for me please?
You are correct. Ervin Rouse was born September 19, 1917, just east of what was then the unincorporated community of "Fort Barnwell" in Craven County, NC. He left home for NY at age 8, and moved to Miami in 1938.
Makes it look so easy. Just try shaking your arm and hand like that for 5 straight minutes and at the same time tell an interesting story. Marty is such an incredible musician.
Thanks for posting. Saw Marty and the Superlatives in Ft. Lauderdale this past Feb. The "Special" mandolin solo was unreal. Hope he comes back soon. Did get to see Balsam Range a couple of weeks later and Darren Nicholson. Catch him on this ruclips.net/video/NpVIOxBhUMk/видео.html

I dont think anyone who doesn't play an instrument will ever understand how hard this shit is. Beautiful
Marty Stuart belongs in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Period. If there ever was a true country artist, it’s Marty Stuart!

Mick Kollins he's an amateur compared to Chris Thile.
Mick Kollins He’s a true pro
My friend, have you heard The Dead South?
@@ben210907 C'mon man! Thile is a decent player, but nowhere the genius off Marty Stuart.
@@ben210907 What a vapid remark -- compare apples with oranges? That ain't no part of nothing.
If Mister Marty Stuart can't come and play this at my funeral, I just ain't gonna die.
WOW!
No matter how many times I watch this I always have the same reaction.
WOW!
I love it when a musician tells the story...
This one by Marty is great!
👍👍👍

I believe that JIMI , EDDIE & ROY CLARK would agree this is the greatest guitarist on earth
What Marty can do most can only dream of.
Thanks for sharing this!
Just got a mandolin for Christmas. After watching this total genius I’m beginning to wish I hadn’t. But one can aspire
Even if you are like me and only squeeze out a few tunes, learning to play will help you fully appreciate what you're hearing on stage. 🙂
What an unbelievably talented and hard working musician! Marty is the best.

Saw Marty do this in Birmingham UK in Oct, together with his Superlatives one of the best, if not the best gig, I have ever been to.
Always love me some Marty Stuart!!!

i lived in N.S back in the late 60s. I like it whenever I hear Halifax mentioned!
I live in Nova Scotia and love to hear it mentioned!!! J.P. Cormier could play that tune. Of course, he can play any tune!
Greatness. Marty Stuart.
This is what musical genius sounds like.

Stunning.
I guess playing mandolin for 50 years - starting as a 10 year old prodigy - gets ya purdy good.
Same thing occurred with Ricky Skaggs, who took up the instrument at age 7.
Says the guy who sucks and knows he's never gonna be as good 👍 🙄

I saw him in Portland do this around the same time as this. In fact, is this in Portland at the Star Theater?
Is “Marty Stuart” an alias for Steve Bannon?
Talk about royalty. Marty is Mozart with the mandolin.
DAMN!!!! I'm going to go get my mandolin & spend about 12 hours trying just to even pretend to be that good!!!
Even Sam Bush is takin notes .... Sam would say " yer in high cotton !"

dont mind me just lookin up stuff
Dude can fuckin" play.
Wholly cats bro. Amazing
Pickin and a grinnin
This guys timing is perfect
I thought the title was 'clickbait' - it was not.
Yeeeeehaaaaah
Can't hold a candle to Bobby Osborne, Jesse McReynolds, bill Monroe, Doyle Lawson, scags,or many other.
Marty stands tall -- like Skaggs, Bush, O'Brien, Grisman, Statman and Thile -- because he stands on the shoulders of mando-pickin' giants.
Heck he was just getting warmed up.
Jesus Christ bless! ✝️
Marty is an American Treasure! He's also a human metronome. Lol.
I didn't know Steve Bannon was so good...
Marty Stuart is very underrated, he is a picking fool
it should be illegal to play that on a mandolin without missing a beat, HOW U DO DAT
You weren’t lyin’...
I wonder how stressful that was
Kevin Tingzon what do you actually mean ? Are you serious or joking ? Can't make out
And add a few more notes in as well..... just because.... you can.
