Marty has forgotten more on a mandolin than most will ever learn. He played my mandolin at a festival one time. It bears his name on the front. A great guy!
I recall seeing the orange juce train running through Rocky Mount,N C. many a time. The picture of the orange made me remember when we couldn't afford orange juice. It was a special treat on Christmas morning to find an orange and apple in our stocking.😊
"You know, that kid's not bad". One of the greatest...anywhere, anytime, and a better, nicer person. Oh yeah, and the second best singer in his marriage...both tremendous people!
We just saw Marty at Canyonville, Oregon three nights ago. The second time I've seen his show. I watch his TV show every week; record it. My wife wonders when Marty will become a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

I really have enjoyed the bluegrass music but can u let me know why marty always wears a scraf covering his neck. I wonder if he had surgery n it left a scare. He is so good its hard to realize he has been at this since he was a teen
@@bigdaddy3919 did end up buying one! Did not have a ton of money so it's a Fender with a pickup. Works! Have used it on a couple of gigs since but I'm still a guitar player first. Also saw Marty live a month or two ago, wouldn't have believed it if you told me that 9 years ago!
Use it as inspiration, man! I've only dabbled with mandolin over the past 10 years and never committed to it, but after just discovering Marty and watching all these videos, I want to go all in! I just noticed your comment is from 5 years ago. You still playing?
I am a fool to speak because "I" became the whatever "is". Maybe I became the whatever "is is". Of course I am the fearful conspiracy theorist and I have no understanding of anything because all I do is drink and make drink and ....unintelligable........ I don't subscibe. This was great :) TY for it
+Del Boyo Nah, if you have string experience you should be able to pick it up pretty easy. If not, and starting from scratch, I wouldn't see it as any more challenging than any other string. There's more resources for the beginner for guitar, but there's plenty of great resources for mandolin and other strings too. The shorter neck and lighter body, not to mention the even tuning of the strings (I'm sure there's a more accurate and technical term for what I mean there) makes me think it would be an easier string to learn than guitar for some.

+Del Boyo you should try playing fiddle.Mandolin is much easier !!
+Del Boyo
try fiddle
At least mandolins are harder to keep in tune. And my pick scratches the top to my fiddle. And nowhere to attach the neck strap on the fiddle either.
Kk
He is good, but Bill Monroe is better!! --David.
