I was born in 1959, graduated from high school in 1978. You know all the music this long haired boy was listening to. Thanks for this cover, took me back.
Del's singing is perfect, and the smiles around the house as people play their parts, or watch the others, are huge treats. So much fun, on a great song, with a great history beyond Canned Heat.
Hi Fran - I just love this piece and you guys just play so well. Beautiful. The scenery is magnificent and the music fits perfectly . Many thanks for sharing. 👏🏻👍
wonder if cash went the Thomas family. Doubt it. If you listen side by side lyrics are different but the phrasing, and groove exact copy asked around the flute part is exact.
Great version! Certain songs once they get in the groove, a thumpin, remind me of a locomotive goin down the tracks. This is one, great rhythm! Thanks!
Nice addition to videos from this session posted by you & the Gibson Brothers I've already enjoyed. Would love to see a video of the entire session. Great to see everyone enjoying playing & singing together.
Del McCoury and his band along with some great help here seem to turn every song into gold. thank you so much... I'm sure henry thomas and canned heat would approve too lol
Strange. First there was void, then suddenly a big bang. Planets formed, dinosaurs came and went and after 13 billion years some guys came together to do a laidback version of "Going Up The Country". Nice.
I made it to the second to the last Fiddler's convention in North Carolina back in the seventies! There had to be a quarter million people there, it was a Bluegrass Woodstock! The following year of the Hells Angels killed somebody, that was the end of the festival!
Love it... Nothing like good musicians playing good music to put a smile on your face... GOD BLESS Y'ALL... & GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸
Alan Wilson would be proud of you guys.

Born in '54 and graduated in 1972.....feel the same.

Beautiful rendition, Canned Heat, reminds me of my youth.
The group Canned Heat played this years ago. A flute riff was added. The first tune I tried to play when I was a kid.
I watched Canned Heat play it in 1971 in Dallas Texas. Great song...
Growing up I always heard this song but when I heard yall played it in blue grass. I fell in love with it. Thank you for such beautiful music.

Music like this should get bigger. So much fluff and stuff these days. Excellent.
Luv them…this is one happy group…talk about real country with a big slug of blue grass..this is it in all its glory…🇨🇦
Del’s iconic tenor epitomizes that high lonesome sound.
I had rather hear an informal jam session like this one than a formal concert.
Just showed up in my feed and I thought, “ If this sucks, there’s no hope for humanity “.
There’s still hope …
Such a pleasure to hear this! Thank you so much.
Hi Fran - I just love this piece and you guys just play so well. Beautiful. The scenery is magnificent and the music fits perfectly . Many thanks for sharing. 👏🏻👍
If anyone's unsure what heavenly music sounds like.....
Now you know....
I love the smile on Ethan's face after he nails that bass solo!
WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Very nicely done - THANK YOU!!!!
Excellent rendition! What a great groove.
OOhhOhhoo! J'adore! Merci! ... ça fait beaucoup de bien! 🤩🤗
It's not originally by Canned Heat. They covered it themselves. Henry Thomas wrote and sang it in 1928.
Its just fair...👍
I never said it was originally done by Canned Heat ... Alan Wilson was the lead vocal on this song by Canned Heat.
Of Course this is a Henry Thomas song from 1928, I hope the band pays some attribution to one of the greatest black blues artists of all time.
did not know that, but it fits and sure needs to be acknowledged!!!
@@scottski51 Bulldoze blues
True, but they are using Alan Wilson’s arrangement and lyrics - and putting it back into the 1928 style of Henry Thomas’ era. Love it! 💙
wonder if cash went the Thomas family. Doubt it. If you listen side by side lyrics are different but the phrasing, and groove exact copy asked around the flute part is exact.
Be quiet
Great version! Certain songs once they get in the groove, a thumpin, remind me of a locomotive goin down the tracks. This is one, great rhythm! Thanks!
Del's band can really find the groove.
When the bass comes in at the start.....
Love everything I’ve heard from this session
Crushed it!
This is marvelous. Thanks from England
Well done, Bravo...!!!
One of my 1960's childhood favorites. From blues to bluegrass.
I never thought of doing a bluegrass cover of Going Up The Country, but it does work well.
Never heard the bluegrass version before. Very nice!
☮️❤️🙂🙏🌈🍀
Nice addition to videos from this session posted by you & the Gibson Brothers I've already enjoyed.
Would love to see a video of the entire session. Great to see everyone enjoying playing & singing together.
Awesome version of this song! Very enjoyable performance!
Oulala quel bonheur de les regarder et de les entendre 😂, on se croirait en 1968 a Woodstock
Del McCoury and his band along with some great help here seem to turn every song into gold. thank you so much... I'm sure henry thomas and canned heat would approve too lol
OK, that was an excellent rendition of goin' up the country. Del McCoury Band is tight.
I love this version of this great song
Just wow! Amazing playing and good golly miss molly the vocals are simply stunning. My ears are begging for more. Thank you and hell yes I subscribed.

What a herd of heavy hitters. Wish I could have been there and got an earful.
This is lovely! This song was made for Del!
Canned Heat meets the Stanley Brothers! Great remix, love it!!
Great production. 👍
Fantastic! Canned Heat would love it I'm sure.
What a treat!!! Thanks Del.🎶🎶🎶
Strange.
First there was void, then suddenly a big bang. Planets formed, dinosaurs came and went and after 13 billion years some guys came together to do a laidback version of "Going Up The Country".
Nice.
I think the Canned Heat version is also laid back...
The big bang is a myth my friend...😊
Solo puedo decir:FANTÁSTICO, GENIAL, MARAVILLOSO,

I made it to the second to the last Fiddler's convention in North Carolina back in the seventies! There had to be a quarter million people there, it was a Bluegrass Woodstock! The following year of the Hells Angels killed somebody, that was the end of the festival!
Not typical of what I listen to but really glad this popped up, great job , of course I knew the canned version
Did it again raw hillbilly blues. Thanks Dell and the mix.
That voice… SO GOOD!! well, along with everything else..
Great rendition of the Canned Heat rendition of the original Henry Thomas song. I hope he gets some kudos here for the original great song!

I imagine somebody else already mentioned this, but It was ordinally by Henry Thomas in 1948 --- 20 years before Canned Heat.
