Kinda interesting that these lists are as varied as they are. We all struggle with different things (good lines, holding boosts, u-turning, shortcuts, etc). I love that about this game and it just proves how unique CTR and the player base is. My Top 5 Tracks 1. Deep Sea Driving 2. Dragon Mines 3. Out of Time 4. Turbo Track 5. Megamix Mania & Crash Cove
True. Honestly, I've never played any different kart racer, only CTR, CNK, CTTR and now CTR:NF and when I see games like Mario Kart, they're boring as hell, while CTR is a real fun challenging game, which is what I love about it.
@@MatteoKysely I understand why you'd feel like that but honestly MK8D is amazing. You can download and watch the WR times and see the lines they take. I'd say it's even harder to get a WR in that game
I love meteor gorge it's my 3rd favorite track, I really like cutting through the snow and hugging the walls on it. It's the only track other than jungle boogie I beat the dev time on and I beat all velo times and cortex castle and gingerbread joyride were the hardest velo times for me.
My tip for people struggling with turbo track and retro stadium: u DONT even need to JUMP on the u corners. u can just go through it with square down holding the underarrow. Maybe jump a couple times but not as much as on this video for example.
well, doing that could be helpful for some, but it slows you down a whole lot and sometimes it can just be unpredictable what your kart will do when you stop U-turning.
I personally jump all the time through that section. But I am use to that track now so it's not a big deal. Turbo Track is actually very easy for me now. I did the dev times over on my PS5 and did Turbo Track in my 1st try.
Fun fact: I didn't had problems with Tiger Temple, Dragon Mines or Deep Sea Driving, but had A LOT of problems with Out Of Time, Gingerbread Joyride and Drive-Thru Danger. I also agree with Slide Coliseum, that's a really REALLY hard one.
i fortunately didn't had much trouble with deep sea driving and dragon mines, since i beat the ghosts pretty quickly after learning the rotations of the blades and the minekart shortcut respectively. but slide coliseum was straight up cancer and also easily the hardest dev time track for me as well
as i done all tracks against developer times here is my opinion of top 5 for ya 5. Crash cove 4. Koala Carnival 3. Out of time 2. Dragon Mines 1. Blizzard Bluff Honorable mentions Turbo Track Hyper Spaceway Tiny Temple Roos tubes Meteor Gorge Drive thru danger Coco Park
Tiger temple was only the track that I didn't win when dev ghosts released. Ofc I defeated Alex but I haven't get how the best way to go through the first dirt section yet lol
It's tedious that deep sea driving but not impossible. But the rest I understand you. Top hardest to me is Slide coliseum turbo track tiger temple hot air skyway out of time.
The hardest one for me was Koala Carnival, I only play drift and the dev time is 1 sec away from the drift WR. Plus it is a track with flaws like weird collisions and weird jumps which makes it harder and more annoying.
I consider it one of my strongest tracks, but I can't seem to beat the dev time with the speed engine. I recommend at the beginning of the fire bowls jumping at the top of the bowl rather than the edge of the bowl because the edges have invisible walls. Anyway I haven't gotten it yet, but I know I will.
@@ctrdexter9369 I did! I still think that's one of the hardest tracks. It took some luck. What did you mean by a "framed jump"? I later watched "ithedashy" who got slightly larger boosts by prolonging his jump on the railing down the first ramp. That could have helped me too.
@@WaffleEBay12 ...check out my Koala Carnival dev time or time trial video on my channel. I do a framed jump on both videos right around the middle of the ramp. Basically, a framed jump is when you press the jump button at exactly the right time so that there is no boost jump. This shoots you ahead of the ghost right away.
@@ctrdexter9369 I see what you did on your time trial. You did a great job cutting the corners tightly. I'm surprised the framed jump is better than the regular boost jump, but whatever works I guess. Once I unlocked everything except a few regular easily winable skins I kinda stopped playing. That was about 2 months after the dev times dropped. I gotta play a little bit more to finish unlocking all the skins.
Yup, Pasadena and Yaya are my 2 mains. I liked Pasadena ever since CTTR was a thing and I really like using Yaya, as her size reminds me of Penta from the OG CTR and I really like how she looks like just a small black blob on a kart :D
On deep-sea driving I was actually getting to the blades too quickly. Once I slow down just a little bit at the beginning I was able to make it past the first played. Every time I got there too quickly the blade was directly in the middle of the track and it was so hard to miss...
Yup, the reserve management in that track is really bad while trying to go for good times, just like Out of Time. Although I actually like Out of Time because of this fact, but it's just generally a fun track to drive on, unlike Turbo Track, which is just boring, making it a really frustrating track at times.
I think i got all the other developers times done with other tracks, but i need to beat the developers time at turbo track, but i need to figure out a better way to get around the hairpin corners in order to keep reserves, and blue fire without losing, so i can get this done to get the master wheels.
@@samuelsoto5855 Retro stadium isn't needed for the wheels. Also, try checking out Jordy's WR and copy his way of cutting the hairpin section, it'll make it much easier
Oh you are right, getting the master wheels is required to beat all developers times in all 39 tracks except for retro stadium which is not required, but i finally got the master wheels, and beat all developers times in all 39 tracks.
Yeah, this really shows that I'm pretty different from others :D I actually found HAS, OoT and Spyro Circuit all pretty easy, but that's just because I'm really used to those tracks and I've played them quite a lot. As far as Megamix Mania goes, I did struggle with it for a bit, but not as much as Dingo Canyon or Meteor Gorge, so I didn't mention it in the honorable mentions. I pretty much just couldn't hold my lines on this track while doing the dev ghost, which made me retry that track quite a lot, but other than that, I was ahead of the dev ghost the entire time.
@@MatteoKysely What about hyper spaceway, it is possible with drift engine? Cause you there extremly fast and thath one section could be a problem. And what about meteor george? Please dont tell me that is another tiger temple bullshit when you have to cut the snow part?
yea, but it's just a circle. Crash Cove was too easy for me, getting a sub 1:18 ()or whatever is his time) wasn't hard for me, Crash Cove is one of my favorite "easy" tracks of the game. I understand why people would struggle with it though.
Honestly that track wasn't that hard for me, because I've already grinded that track before the devs came out. That track was actually my first dev ghosts I beat.

those are a few of the easier ones imo. I didn't have any trouble with those. I've time trialed those tracks a lot before the devs came out and they didn't take me that long.
