@@SegaMario Well, the Dev ghosts are beating Velo, right? If some players can manage to beat Velo in Out of Time, an expert developer can beat Velo. Time Trial pushes us to the limit.
Dragon Mines ghosts are easy to beat, using u-turn on spiral section is enough, no need shortcut. The problem is that usually, N Trophy and Oxide TT mode are played by beginners/novices player, so it's fuckin' hard. First times I tried to beat him it has been impossible, I always did 1.35.xx or, worst, 1.34.9x. Now I can make easily 1.26 without restarting after losing fire.
Really? I spent 5 freaking hours straight in Dragon Mines, beat him without the shortcut cause I suck at it and after I had beaten him and turned the game off, I was still shaking. When I finally beat Oxide there I beat him by 3 seconds. I've done that twice!
As a Drift main I found all the blue fire tracks really easy since using Drift gives you more reserves and you don’t have to risk getting more reserves by drifting that much. The only track I found to be somewhat tough was blizzard bluff. Even got lucky on Deepsea driving clearing it on the first try and not hitting the fans once. Pretty much did everything on the first or second try. Waiting for those dev times for a real challenge *gulp

Acceleration then Speed. Acceleration hits top speed quicker and the handling is higher than average, which works better for technical tracks with a ton of turns. Speed class is better for tracks with a few turns but mostly straightaways, since the handling is ok and the acceleration is ass at best. To really succeed with the Speed class you’ll need to not fall off the track or hit any walls, or any obstacles to maintain speed.

Definitely got a ton of practice with air braking on some of these tracks, and especially lucky with nailing Blizzard Bluff's shortcuts. As for my hardest pick, it's a toss up between Dragon Mines and Out of Time. Trying to pull either of them off with a speed class was not at all easy.

Got the Velo Decal today and oh boy. All the tracks I still can't do a lap while keeping Sacred Fire/Blue Fire came back to haunt me, but Cortex Castle specifically got me stuck for a while, and I just know the dev times will demand Blue Fire all the way in that track.
It took me at least 130 attempts to beat Velo on Out of Time. So many attempts were ruined by turning too far during the fence jump and just barely clipping the wall, losing blue fire. Word of advice: If you can manage to keep the boost that first little ramp gives you on lap 1, you have a lot more leeway leading up to the blue fire ramp. Velo doesn't keep that boost, which puts him a second or two behind you.
Before the Velo trials, Out of Time was my favorite track in the game. Now it gives me PTSD. Thanks, Beenox. EDIT - Also, Dragon Mines surprisingly only took me 4 tries. A nice surprise.
Sorry, Teal, but Deep Sea Driving is on the absolute top of my shit list, I just hate it SO F***ING MUCH, even Out of Time seemed like child's play next to it

My time trials are ranked in the top 10,000 players on ps4 (the game sold at least 2 million on ps4) so the fact that some of my times didn’t beat velo is making me terrified for dev trials
So I beat Oxide's times a few months after I got the game and I hadn't played since. Then my friend mentioned that they were heaps far behind Velo's time on Tiny temple and at the moment I heard that I got pretty angry. So I chucked the disk in after a long time, made a list of the 33 tracks that my ghost was slower than Velo on and had a go. Beat coco park in 3 attempts, then tried papus pyramid. Got .04 seconds off on my 4th or 5th go and now I have decided that that'll do for tonight. Thanks Beenox for taking my Platinum trophy and Oxide shaming time trial times and shoving them right up my ass and ruining my night and probably the next 2 months!
Back when this game first came out, it was thanks to the brutal online races that got me to attempt the Oxide Ghost just unlock Digital N. Tropy. Several months later, I know all the tracks inside out and I quietly suffered as I knocked out the Platinum Relics for Adventure Mode (and only adventure mode, I am not insane, I just wanted the Platinum paint job). Velo's trials come out of nowhere and they are here to test my patience or to obliterate them. Probably both. And then Beenox's time's are coming after and I am in F E A R mode.
I've been doing some Velo times between Grand Prix challenges, and I'm currently up to Dingo Canyon... which has a time 8 seconds faster than my own best... Granted, the same was the case for Papu's Pyramid, but that was due almost entirely to the hairpin turn section, which I finally figured out a decent setup for. Dingo? I just don't know where I went wrong! As for Oxide... pfft, I broke his last ghost _easily_ ! In fact, my best Tiger Temple was better than Velo's time already, and I _still_ bettered it by a whole second!
Polar Pass with the glacier hopping, Blizzard Bluff with the fence hopping & river jumping, there are more but god damn is he impossible. What were the game developers thinking, were they on drugs to even do this to us?
I hated doing Tiny Temple for N. Tropy's times, I just hated how hard it was to maintain your boost at the end of the track to even get a decent chance of winning
Two to go for me..I just did Gingerbread joyride and I kept clipping the right side after the jump over the fence. It was the worst one for me so far. The jelly things were for the most part going trough the middle 3 times. Oh and by the way.. The Velo ghost does some strange stuff at Barin Ruins. It falls into the floor on the long halfpipe and respawns a bit further with a boost and a mask.
‘I’m not god tier’ You beat all the Velo times in around a day and not even using a Speed engine. You’re god tier, maybe there are different sub tiers in the god tier but you’re in it. Leave some tiers for the rest of us
I'd argue I'm not. I'm good, but God-tier players can go up to 20 seconds faster than me on certain tracks. They would beat all of these first time with 10 seconds to spare.
The Hardest one imo us Cortex Castle.. it took 5 hours to beat that time! I'm not even kidding... it's hard to keep up the blue fire and avoid the spiders. It is my favorite track too. And I'm glad I beat that track and also beat other tracks on your top 10 list too. 👍
It's hard for me to say, because I only did 2, but Megamix Mania was difficult. Basically, you have to avoid paint mines in order to maintain blue fire for the rest of the trial
And people are fearing Dragon mines and they ignore other tracks such as Cortex Castle where Velo actually holds blue fire for half a track each lap. Spyro Circuit and Sewer Speedway where Velo really leaves no room for error. Gingerbread Joyride is another punch in the face. And obviously the game changing ghost where in Out of Time he held blue fire for almost an entire lap. See people? Dragon mines ISN'T that bad at all. Just learn how to U-Turn and congratulations it's an easy win. Otherwise it's not going to be as bad as the previous mentioned tracks.
I have 6 velo tt left. Tiny Arena (I hate that track it’s too long and boring I’m avoiding it), Dragon Mines, cortex Castle, out of time, hot air skyway, and papu’s pyramid. Most of the velo time trials were pretty easy for me but a couple of these are very difficult, wish me luck :)
I _hated_ Dingo Canyon, personally. The cramped downhill section immediately followed by the lumpy water BS and then a cramped, tight turn that contains one of the only two boost pads? And then there's the armadillos, too. I just really hate when a track's cragginess makes it hard to see where exactly the track ends and the walls begin.
Kind of wish the guessing game hazards like barrels and spinning blades were disabled for time trials, kind of like how they were for the CNK boss races.
You dind't mention how Velo's ghost falls from the track during the second lap of Drive Thru Dangwr, wich gives you an insane amount of time for get ahead of him
I strangely found Cortex castle ridiculously easy (first attempt in fact), same with Spyro circuit. I would replace them with Megamix mania and Drive thru danger because they gave me trouble (more so than I thought)
Man was Out Of Time really that difficult for most of the community? Not bragging but I did it on the first try and I just feel there are harder tracks to beat him on than that. Good luck to all who’s still currently trying to best him. Keep those blue flames up! 👌🏾
So he holds the blue flame for 2 full laps on out of time? Well there goes any chances of me doing it. I have never kept it past the clock tower section.
Velo has a whole 30 second on my Best time on Out of Time... I've never been able to keep blue fire on a full lap on this track... this is gonna be a doozie
Dev times scare me as I'm already in the top 300-500 in most tracks at least on the Switch. How much faster could they get beyond legit speedrun times that I highly doubt I can replicate.
Spyro Circuit and Out of Time were annoying but the rest were not as hard as I expected honestly. If you can keep fire you should beat Velo. Like, I thought I had to do the fence jumps in Blizzard Bluff but that wasn't the case at all. Though I'm expecting the dev's times to be ruthless.
Drive-Thru Danger would be on that list. I beat him while losing my blue flame on every lap around the tight turns. He actually falls off the track on the second lap, as long as you know the shortcuts, you should be able to make up ground and beat him. The track itself may be the CTR version of Rainbow Road, but it actually has one of the easier Velo ghosts.
My top 3 were: 3: Out of Time: I don't think I've ever held a full lap of blue fire on it before these Velo times. 2: Cortex Castle: Probably my worst track and I stubbornly stayed with speed class. Also same story as Out of Time. 1: Deep Sea Driving: Took me long enough to consistently get an idea of where the propellers were. Gingerbread Joyride is my honourable mention mostly because I beat the Oxide ghost when it came out and haven't played on it since so I barely remembered the track.
I haven’t really gone for many Velos yet, I’ve mainly been catching up on Tropys and Oxides. I’m almost done, only got Megamix Mania and Drive-thru Danger left, but let me just say... Gingerbread Joyride Oxide (and by extension Velo) can go eat a donkey’s left testicle. I felt like I was going insane.
And here I am, struggling to beat the N. Tropy time trials, lmao. In that regard, my least favorite so far has been Turbo Track for one reason and one reason only. Despite my numerous fuck-ups, I actually BEAT his time by a full two seconds, but it "didn't count" bc I hadn't actually unlocked his time trial, so I had to do it ALL OVER AGAIN and it's honestly so unfair, I don't know why the time trials are set up that way. So yeah, I hate Turbo Track now.
Try the drift class. It has better turning and more speed than acceleration. It is also easier to keep blue fire with the drift classas as drift boosting has increased reserves. I am an acceleration main as well but I switched to drift to beat the Velo time trials. It was so easy once I switched because drift class is OP!
Which course would you say was the easiest to beat Velo on? There are many tracks I have no desire to revisit in TT mode and so I'd be happy with beating him just once and unlock the associated achievement :D
I'm in the same boat as you, though I feel confident enough that I think I may be able to beat 2 of the dev times, assuming it's possible with the acceleration class anyways. Those two are electron avenue and N.gen labs. They are my best two tracks...

You dind't mention how Velo's ghost falls from the track during the second lap of Drive Thru Dangwr, wich gives you an insane amount of time for get ahead of him
I didn't realize he actually fell off. I thought he just lost blue fire and took a slightly longer route. That's pretty funny!
I did most tracks in one or two goes but the track you didn't put on your list Drive-Thru Danger. Cause I wasn't use to it I struggled on it.
I agree my fingers hurt just beated it ^^
Nina's Nightmare fence jump is MUCH harder than the Out of Time one, that made Nina's Nightmare much harder in my opinion
The Beenox developers watched all the CTR time trials on youtube and studied all the shortcuts and did the fastest times possible.
The developers times will be harder than velo, so I think they saved the hardest for last
Thank god there is no thropies for it, im still struggling on mystery caves
Velo has a whole 30 second on my Best time on Out of Time... I've never been able to keep blue fire on a full lap on this track... this is gonna be a doozie
Try going the long way around that first bend. The extra few boosts may keep your reserves up
I can’t even beat Nitrus Oxide on Crash Cove I suck at this game.
me too ;-;
Dev times scare me as I'm already in the top 300-500 in most tracks at least on the Switch.
What about the 10 easiest Velo trials?
Drive-Thru Danger would be on that list. I beat him while losing my blue flame on every lap around the tight turns. He actually falls off the track on the second lap, as long as you know the shortcuts, you should be able to make up ground and beat him. The track itself may be the CTR version of Rainbow Road, but it actually has one of the easier Velo ghosts.
#1 would be Roo's Tubes
My top 3 were:
3: Out of Time: I don't think I've ever held a full lap of blue fire on it before these Velo times.
2: Cortex Castle: Probably my worst track and I stubbornly stayed with speed class. Also same story as Out of Time.
1: Deep Sea Driving: Took me long enough to consistently get an idea of where the propellers were.
Gingerbread Joyride is my honourable mention mostly because I beat the Oxide ghost when it came out and haven't played on it since so I barely remembered the track.
the dev times make velo look like a baby. im still going for the dev times
Deep sea driving how lovely
And here I am, struggling to beat the N. Tropy time trials, lmao.
In that regard, my least favorite so far has been Turbo Track for one reason and one reason only.
Despite my numerous fuck-ups, I actually BEAT his time by a full two seconds, but it "didn't count" bc I hadn't actually unlocked his time trial, so I had to do it ALL OVER AGAIN and it's honestly so unfair, I don't know why the time trials are set up that way.
So yeah, I hate Turbo Track now.
Can’t seem to find anything online comparing just how much quicker Velo is to Oxide
I looked at them in this video (the link is timestamped) ruclips.net/video/MtRYLj0lRTs/видео.html
Try the drift class. It has better turning and more speed than acceleration. It is also easier to keep blue fire with the drift classas as drift boosting has increased reserves. I am an acceleration main as well but I switched to drift to beat the Velo time trials. It was so easy once I switched because drift class is OP!
Dev trials will probably be the world record times
Roo's Tubes is a pain in the arse to do, same with Crash Cove. I keep losing my boost, no matter how fast I go.
Try to stick to the corners as much as you could, then you'll be fine beating them
Guess I’m better then I thought then. Aside from a handful they weren’t too bad to me.
Which course would you say was the easiest to beat Velo on? There are many tracks I have no desire to revisit in TT mode and so I'd be happy with beating him just once and unlock the associated achievement :D
I just beat Velo on Blizzard Buff without even using the fences on my fourth try. It's not that hard but it still takes skill and practice.
What are the games shown in the background when the countdown numbers appear?
Cortex Castle and Out of Time were the hardest, easy. Had so much trouble beating Velo's times on those
Nina’s nightmare is really a *nightmare* for me
Definitely sticking with how they pronounced Velo in CNK.
To be honest, I didn’t think Blizzard Bluff, Sewer Speedway and Gingerbread Joyride were that hard. Dingo Canyon and Coco Park were brutal, though
It's rather easy to do Deep sea driving if you were a turn character and remember the blade patterns
I'm in the same boat as you, though I feel confident enough that I think I may be able to beat 2 of the dev times, assuming it's possible with the acceleration class anyways. Those two are electron avenue and N.gen labs. They are my best two tracks...
*N Gin labs*
It was deep sea driving for me, fuck those blades
I find Clockwork Wumpa pretty hard but it's probably because I rarely play it. I hated Out of time now I HATE it even more, got only 8 tracks left :D
