Sorry for the delay! There was a lot going on in the past few weeks, so the video took slightly longer than expected. Sekiro has won the poll I made within my Community Tab, but due to the delay the next video will be the Resident Evil 4 Remake. After that though, I'll be playing Sekiro! ✌️ I will do my best to not make you wait an entire month again in between future videos. 😅 Thanks a lot for watching and for your support, I very much appreciate it. Have a great day! 😊💚 - ph1ger
This video took everything I loved about the last one and made it even better! The pacing is great, the editing is amazing, and I enjoy the little mini explanation of the game you’re playing! The last video was great, but I have to subscribe after this one
This really means a lot! I'm still experimenting with a lot of things within my videos being unsure whether the things I add are good or bad, so comments like this make this entire thing worth it. Thank you so much! 💚
I will go to my grave defending CTR against Mario Kart. It's a better game in almost all aspects. The blue flame mechanic in CTR is so satisfying when you get it right, there's tracks where you can keep blue flame the entire way through and just smoke everyone. The drifting and kart movement in general just feels way better, and the tracks and shortcuts are infinitely more interesting and well laid-out. On that note, to nail the Sewer Speedway shortcut every time, drive into the actual water in the sewer basin and then ramp up the very first left hand corner. That should land you and boost you towards the ramp for the shortcut entry point, and your speed will get you there. (At 8:14 you're hopping onto the raised left side instead of using its ramp, although as you can see it works that way too. Maybe it's just a timing thing)
I agree that driving feels a lot better in CTR than in Mario Kart! What I don't like is the seemingly low focus on items. It feels 10x more satifying hitting someone with a green sheel in Mario Kart then it does hitting someone with an item in CTR. Also, it's sad that Activision messed up the online component... Other than that, and purely from how the game feels to control, I agree with everything you said.
MK is a lot more precise and as a multiplayer experience much more balanced. By precise I mean micro movements can gain/loss a lot of time where CTR is just lol uturn to fix any mistake and lose next to nothing. On top of that, if you get hit in CTR in the back, you lose the race immediately because you have to wait for a boost pad to get back to speed and it might not even be a blue fire pad. Sure MK looks a lot slower but its a much more fun experience overall. As a time trial game, CTR is where it shows it's strengths but it's flaws show everywhere else, and even then MK is still an insane time trial game. As someone who has played both casually and speedran both, I did get sucked into CTR but over time realised how truly flawed it was in comparison. Still a great game but doesn't come close
They're both good games but I think MK still has a slight edge. More tracks and easier. But CTR has better customization and looks way prettier (just don't get it on Switch)
Thanks a lot! Uploads have been slow recently, but I‘m currently working on a lot of stuff I‘ll hopefully be able to reveal sooner than later. Good luck on your Plat whenever you get to it :)
@@ph1ger a lot of them are harder than the original game, since quite a few unintended shortcuts were made intentional. as well as the ultimate sacred fire being able to keep the whole race, which wasnt possible in the original. and actually the tracks that had it were easier if you abused it in the original game. pretty cool to see you improve over the course of the video.
Congratulations 🥳- that looked an absolute nightmare. I’m not a fan of driving games so I wouldn’t even have attempted it. You have some serious skills. I do love Sekiro so looking forward to see how you get on with that.
Thank you!! I don't love them THAT much either, but I have a sweet spot for kart racers and especially Crash, so I had to 😁😅 Can't wait to get onto Sekiro after Resi 4!!
I suck at dodging traps, so I invested in speed. No need to worry about TNTs and bombs if you're ahead of the boss. *the high iq head tap meme* You've got most of the handling in the game, but looking at it it feels very mechanical and shortsighted (not in a bad way, more in a sense that pro racing drives are adjusting now for the turn later, while your gameplay more feels like correcting now for directly what's in front), And extended to track, it feelsl ike you're lacking the perception of map's flow. Once you get a feel for that and start looking a bit ahead, maps will be a lot easer. Also you explained the fires wrong. There's the small boost fire, ** Medium boost fire if at least one of your boosts were Perfect and you get this after 3 full boosts, Sacred fire is normal booster (which is just maintained by the boost reserves) and USF is blue fire booster (same boost reserve logic applies). at 7:41 when you're doing the u-turn on Hot air skyway, you're doing, what I call, a sling shot. This is holding down break and turning, which won't change your direction, but will turn the kart. When you're doing that, just add down to the mix, and you'll do a U-turn that will be extremely fast, and will change your direction. This can be applied in a lot of places, especially cortex castle, dragon mines and other tracks with sharper turns. Edit (wrote this before the end of the vide). The sewer speedway trick is messed up, for sure, but it seems more reliable and reproducible when you boost JUST before the jump (so jumping of the higher platform into the upwards wall, like you did in your last example.) Edit 2. Tiny temple has the shortcut pillars after the electric bits which make that whole section almost a straight line. if you're coming to them with USF, you can jump on the first one and start drifting right, and drift boost will get you over the pits, and then you jump off the last one
I just got done with the Oxide time trials after coming back! It feels good! Now I need to beat the Hard Adventure and I am pretty much done! This was a fun video by the way!
Felt like it sometimes, but the physics are just a little wonky 😅 Of course, if you're coming at it from a bad angle already you're not gonna make it. 😆
I can't wait to see that too 😆 I'll try getting it done before Crash Team Rumble's release in June, but I have some games planned before that. One being, way, WAY worse than Crash 4 😅
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate comments like these, even though I'm very happy with the growth of the channel considering my inconsistency atm. A lot more to come 😄
as someone who platinum it afew years ago i can say that adventure mode on hard difficulty was a walk in the park compared to the crystal challenges and the gem things, everything other than the races felt like a struggle and tons of retries but adventure mode on hard required very little retries and i beat it in 2 days taking my time on hard. oxides time trials were hard but thanks to doing cups on hard difficulty alot i was able to beat oxides time trials after 7 to 10 resets on some tracks.
Interesting to see how opinions on that game seem to differ. The only slightly annoying Crystal Challenge for me was the Parking Lot, other than that they were all pretty simple. 🤔 The Hard mode was mostly annoying due to the items, I got sniped so often and am really bad at dodging potions and crates on the ground 😅 Thank you for watching! 😊
@@ph1ger yeah i did enough hard cups to know what your talking about, when you get sniped the CPU is scripted to go after you only. although once in a rare while they go after each other. i seen a dingodile CPU shoot a missile at coco and it followed her a really long way and ended up hitting where if it was my missile it would have never turned around that wall like that. it might just be me but i feel the 1 missile you get is more accurate than the 3 missiles you get. it will never be as good as they CPUs because they get an entirely different missile thats scripted like the red shell from mario kart. cpu cannot take shortcuts so even on hard that can be the easiest advantage to get on them, weirdly enough CPU can detect your potions that you drop but they cannot detect other CPU potions. CPU WILL drop TNT crates on you if you are directly behind them which is why i stay to the sides when racing them. i feel like turn engine and balanced engine are completely useless in the game, i just got done beating a cup on hard with turn difficulty and i barely stood a chance, if i can barely beat hard CPU with turn that means i would not stand a chance racing average players even if i had sacrete fire. i feel like acceleration is the best for recovery after getting hit with items and drift is good for keeping top speed. speed is for the pros who can basically tap square and the arrow pads to do sharp turns but i would not feel comfortable with that play style s id stick t acceleration personally for speed recovery after getting hit.
haha, I do know about them. ☝️ I would've done them if there was a trophy tied to them, but since there isn't I didn't see any reason to try. They would've absolutely broken me, some of those times are ridiculous. 😂

On the shortcut you struggle the most, you have to stay forward when jumping if you tried to go left or right he won’t jump enough so you have to straighten your kart and leave it and just jump to 100% make sure you make it, thank me later 😂
