Excellent advice on frog lure advice ESPECIALLY on only buying as soft of frogs as you can find I did that and combined with one other change it made a HUGE difference and improvement in my hookup success Also worth adding to your advice is know the quality of your bass fisheries I fish 3 different lakes for at least 90% of my largemouth bass fishing I am absolutely blessed that these three lakes all have VERY good numbers of bass between 2+ pounds and less than 5 lbs as in 90%+ of the bass I catch will be under 5lbs So it is an accurate statement to say these lakes I fish have very few bass in them over 5lbs accessible by shore fisherman like me and my sons These three lakes are all more shallow than deep All three of these lakes have heavy weeds and lilly pads as thier predominant structure that occupies over 80% of the lakes main bass holding habitat Absolutely perfect frog fishing habitat I been trying to master frog fishing for the last 4 years. After two years I was absolutely great at picking out spots in the lilly pads, reeds and weeds that held bass and learning the best conditions on my lakes to fish a frog 90% of the time I frog fish I get multiple bass blowing up on my frogs But my hookup ratio still was very poor at 50-55% In late June of last year I watched a frog fishing how to YT video and the guy suggested if your having trouble hooking up using a frog try using a smaller frog I thought DUH! I did exactly that I went to a frog that was about 5/8" to over an inch shorter than all the frogs I was using Also before I ever tried this new mini frog I compared it side by side to all my other frogs what shocked me most was the plastic this frog was made from was tissue paper thin and many times softer VS all my other frogs and this frog compressed many times easier than any of my other frogs Lucky my first time using this frog was textbook perfect frog fishing conditions In 4.5 hours of prime frog fishing conditions on my favorite frog fishing lake in my best frog fishing spot I got 14 bass to blowup on my frog hooked 12 got 10 in and released the ONLY thing I did different was change to a smaller significantly softer frog lure I fully understand if you're fishing a lake were bass up to 6lbs are common then by all means use a standard sized frog of 2.5-3" long But if like me 90% of the bass you fish for are under 5lbs using a smaller frog is absolutely worth trying Since going to a smaller MUCH softer frog my hookup success rose from 55% to 75% I can't honestly say it rose to 80% but 75% yes I can say that Now the over 90% of the blowups I fail to hookup on are due to my STILL setting the hook to fast What amazed me most about frog fishing is the degree of concentration and self control it demands if you wish to be consistently successful at fishing frogs. Great content if guys watching this fallow your advice they will ve more successful frog fisherman
Down here in florida i use frogs alot targeting the snakeheads but when i lived in ocala fl frogs were the key to many big bass and color was a key the blue gill pattern and a shad pattern i used to let my frogs sit in the sun for a few days to soften up body caught many 8lb bass on frogs while doging gators
I missed 4 on my new frog and seeing you adjust the hooks made it 100% accurate. I would be on for 2 seconds and the frog would pop right out and it didn’t make sense cause not to sound like a pro but i usually hook a fish very well. Thank you didn’t even come to my mind to adjust the hooks
that being said, you absolutely need to pause wait for the pressure like he said and hookset HARD. While bending your hooks helps get more hooked, hooking them properly is a skill that takes time. Since you said they were on for a couple seconds, it means that the hooks became exposed but didn't sufficiently hook the fish (not a hook angle problem). It can be hard to fight the reaction adrenaline but you have to. Source: 50% of all my fish are on frogs.
I try a high cast near shaded pads and near the shore. The frog then makes a louder splash, then I give it a couple quick jerks to mimic a frog jumping off a pad.
I lost about 6 yesterday morning.. 😢 I was so frustrated! I am determined to master topwater frog 🐸. I LOL'D at your comment about "uglystick" thats what I'm using a 7' medium heavy 30lb braid. But no hookups.. ill look for a bait casting rod I have been avoiding em cause of the birds nest but ill give it a go I need to master a frog 🐸 thanks so much for all your tips
Great tips, I have been struggling for a good hookup with my frogs I'm on my third different one thinking it was just the frog 🐸 but now I know a few extra ways I can attack it with this lure. Thanks again. Subbed 😁
Thank you, I suck at setting the hook. I just missed 3 my booyah frog hooks gotta be bent up makes sense. BIG BITES ,I went to set the hook and it popped right out , they were hitting from underneath..
I’ve been using a booya frog. Getting a ton of bites, horrible hook up ratio. I’m definitely going to try the one you suggested. I just recently got a 6th sense. Haven’t had a to. Of bites but same thing, it’s so frustrating. I wait for them to take it too. 😤
I usually use a spinnerbait 1st when walking the bank and whenever frogs get to jumping I get to casting a frog. I've not problems with the LunkerHunt lure brand.
New bass fisherman I’ve tried and tried to catch bass on frogs I never could get the hook set but I finally got my first 2 this week I boiled it don’t know if that actually helped or I just finally got the hook set right
The best bass lure for heavy cover I ever had was a weedless jitterbug built similar to that frog with green rubber rail similar to that one. Lost it, and I do not think they make them now.
Thanks for noticing. Can't believe I forgot that. Through up a link. It looks like they are hard to come by anymore, but I've had really good success with both the kaera and the gavacho. Excllent frogs by Jackall too.
I make a copy of the iobee. Can I send you one for you to compare to the original? Also just so you know. The iobee frog has wire weight on the shank of the frog hook. So it makes me it sit parallel to the surface
Got the color Guide to work Still having problems with the master class, though. Ask for our locations and the name of email. Do all that and installs on the picture of you and your son. Any thoughts?
I have a curse when it comes to frogs but after watching I’m thinking the tip of my rod is on the heavy side. I think I’m going to try a rod that’s a heavy but actually has a light tip.
I fish a Texas rig frog lol it might sound funny but my bullet weight that clamps right on the line I put a few inches before my frog and it sits right under the waterline any huge fish or predator fish will smoke it and that’s a fact
Hey hey hey !!!! I use older med heavy 7' and 7.5' Ugly sticks in salt and fresh and I wouldnt trade them for anything!!!! Dont be dissin' my ugly sticks!!!! 7' Nurse shark to Goliath Grouper to 6Lbs Bass on a 10 inch glide bait.....Gotta have my Uglies!!!!
@@KrakenBass Quite honestly, I started buying them because they were cheaper and they had a full lifetime replacement warranty if you broke it. Ive only broken 2, LOL. One was on that shark.
Any bass worth catching, doesn't matter how soft the frog is, what line u use...takes very little effort to press down even the "hardest" frog from a quality bass....the other myth...u "must" use braid...not true at all...again, bass don't have iron mouths...a heavy mono has plenty of strength to hook a bass with any frog...the stretch factor is exaggerated with a heavy mono...another con of braid...woody types of cover..braid gets stuck in notches of wood more often than mono...as far as color? I had 1 day, where i could not hook a bass on a black frog...strikes every cast...i switched to a bluegill color & hooked 95%...the belly color wasn't much different...the sides however, were quite different...had some orange, purple, red on the bluegill color...makes u think
Man I can set a hook with a frog to save my life. My frogs are soft. I'm 0/10 on bite to hook up. I wait 2 seconds just can't get it done. I love foshing a frog and won't quit
The top of the frog is to catch you the bottom is for the Bass..awesome video thanks
I love that😆
Excellent advice on frog lure advice ESPECIALLY on only buying as soft of frogs as you can find I did that and combined with one other change it made a HUGE difference and improvement in my hookup success
Also worth adding to your advice is know the quality of your bass fisheries
I fish 3 different lakes for at least 90% of my largemouth bass fishing
I am absolutely blessed that these three lakes all have VERY good numbers of bass between 2+ pounds and less than 5 lbs as in 90%+ of the bass I catch will be under 5lbs
So it is an accurate statement to say these lakes I fish have very few bass in them over 5lbs accessible by shore fisherman like me and my sons
These three lakes are all more shallow than deep
All three of these lakes have heavy weeds and lilly pads as thier predominant structure that occupies over 80% of the lakes main bass holding habitat
Absolutely perfect frog fishing habitat
I been trying to master frog fishing for the last 4 years. After two years I was absolutely great at picking out spots in the lilly pads, reeds and weeds that held bass and learning the best conditions on my lakes to fish a frog

Lucky my first time using this frog was textbook perfect frog fishing conditions
In 4.5 hours of prime frog fishing conditions on my favorite frog fishing lake in my best frog fishing spot I got 14 bass to blowup on my frog hooked 12 got 10 in and released the ONLY thing I did different was change to a smaller significantly softer frog lure
I fully understand if you're fishing a lake were bass up to 6lbs are common then by all means use a standard sized frog of 2.5-3" long
But if like me 90% of the bass you fish for are under 5lbs using a smaller frog is absolutely worth trying
Since going to a smaller MUCH softer frog my hookup success rose from 55% to 75% I can't honestly say it rose to 80% but 75% yes I can say that
Now the over 90% of the blowups I fail to hookup on are due to my STILL setting the hook to fast

Should I start with thanks for the videos!
Stunning video!! I have been fishing my frogs WAY too slow!! I will try the loop knot for sure!! Would you fish a frog in cold water or not?
Good stuff man!! Love it!
I’m on my third frog of the season…. They’ve been DESTROYING my frogs! Can’t beat that blowup.
Utah is all about trout fishing
Glad u found lakes with LMB
BEST FROG VID EVER (All Black frog day or night -works for me every time////sharpen the hooks and add some goopy attractant) Kraken Bass man great vid
Thanks man! Appreciate the tip on adding scents/attractants. I'll have to try that.

I agree with the heavier pole, but if you're comfortable with the spinning reel, i say keep it.
@@scottdeaton3311 i am definitely keeping the spinning rod.. its my plan B and its been working
You have any tips for when the bass is consistently hitting behind the frog?
The new kiagra frog with the blade is amazing
Great tip. I'll like the other Keara, I'll have to try the one with the blade.
i learn on all your vid ed bud. keep them rolling
Who makes those sunglasses on your head? Thanks!
How do you reel down after a blowup since walking the frog is with the rod tip down already?
Great information 👍

Ive fell in love with the scum frog launch frog....great hookup ratio...very soft annd good hooks
Thanks for sharing. I've never tried one. They definitely have a good looking shape 🤙🏼
Scum frogs for pressured bass . Works well . Soft plastic too .@KrakenBass
Boil your frogs to make it softer. It really helps if you have a stiff frog.
Great Video good info thnx I am horrible with a frog just can't hook em" good tips to try when I go out again and iam using the wrong colors and frogs

Tried both color selector & 30 mi. Class. Couldn't get either to work?

FYI any plastic bait you deem to hard or stiff just boil said bait in water 5 seconds at a time until desired result.

Almost all pros slightly bend the hooks out or soak them in near boiling water to soften the plastic
