A must watch is Linkin Park and Jay-Z collab-99 Problems/Points of Authority. They killed the track. Jay-Z face at the end when he hears Chester screams is priceless
Legit, waaaaay better than this one imo
Yeah and the *Dirt off your shoulder/lying from you.*
@@zippo_muk9254 came to say this same thing, that track is so underrated and mostly ignored by reactors despite being just as good as both this track and the 99 Problems/PoA
It is a fucking art what they did haha
I was JUST COMING TO TYPE THIS!!!!! Thank you and YES 2 of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES & songs......through work a5 Peavey Electronics and a childhood friend who is a radio guy now but was a promoter and club owner....BOTH WAYS I MET AND got to know Linkin Park BEFORE ANYONE KNEW THEM REALLY TO PINNACLE!!!! ALWAYS treated me the same. RIP and I STILL HOPE to meet Hove (Jay-Z for anyone who doesn’t know and yes I met someone recently that actually listened but didn’t know that......glad I was sitting down 🤣🤣🤣lol) BUT I might have to use one of my “special work collab cards” one day if the timing is right to meet J!!!! Been such a huge fan since WAY WAY BACK...".like on Renegade (and I disagree that EMINEM washed him)BUT I THINK IT IS THE ACTUAL WORDS and what they meant to ME PERSONALLY!!!!!! BOTH OF THEM had/have a gift of painting a picture perfect vision with their words. I TRULY FELT THIS WITH SO MANY Jay’s songs. And why I just thought IT WAS A PERFECT COLLABORATION SIMPLY!!!!! My opinion. BUT I MEAN I ALREADY had SUCH A VIVID PICTURE FROM ALL HIS WORK and Hard Knock Life would make me smile and cry all in one. Pretty much ALL did and No Jay I KNOW YOUR WORK LIKE Stevie when the words rolled off his tongue IMMEDIATELY....I NEVER SKIMMED!!!!! Quite the opposite actually and says something when your mom who isn’t a hip hop fan AT ALL can say verses....
Linkin Park & Jay-Z - Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer
Well worth checking out Stevie!
Yes, definitely do this one. Amazing live performance/Collab!
the best one!
Yes!
Yes!!!
Agreed, the best imo
Gotta do the whole concert, it's amazing.
The actual whole album
Album*
Absolutely! Fly high Chester. There will never be another like you!
This whole concert is amazing!
agreeed!
MTV had the idea for a rock/rap mashup concert and asked Jay Z who he'd want to work with and he chose Linkin Park. From there Mike Shinoda was really the mastermind behind the production and the mashup of their songs, he really doesn't get enough credit for how talented he is.
Agreed and not to take anything away from Chester, or anyone else. Mike is super talented and doesn’t get recognized enough for it.
Still remember the Jay Z concert that happened after Chester died, he was in tears talking about him and performing a tribute for Chester. Kind of shows how much Jay Z appreciated and loved Linkin Park and all the guys in the band I think. They were more than just collaborators, they were friends.
Both Jay-Z and Linkin Park were in their primes at this point and this collab was huge and unexpected at that time. Both Jay-Z and LP have the utmost respect for each others art. They packaged a DVD about the background of the collab, it came with the album when it released.
to be honest Linkin Park back then was the thing, they did one banger after another and they was well known like micheal jackson at his prime time.
Jay Z got a good bust by Linkin Park for sure but he was not nobody back then, he was a big raper too.
After Chester passed Jay-Z performed this version live on tour and dedicated those performances to Chester and gave moments of silence for him.
Chester passed in 2017.
Think about where Hov was @ that point and for him to dedicate a portion of his solo concert tour to an artist of a wildly different genre and pay HIS respects to that artist speaks VOLUMES to the level of love and respect Chester and the entire band of Linkin Park earned in the music industry.
#RIPChester #MakeChesterProud
Do the whole concert its only like 6 songs or so. Amazing mix of songs thanks Mike rapper from linkin park who combined them and made this possible
Man I bought this cd back in the day. Came with the DVD.
The whole collab is fantastic
I think i still have it.
Jay-Z will always be Jay-Z. But Linkin Park inspired a generation. The collaboration amalgamated the masses, showing the melting pot that America has become. Rest in Peace, Chester Bennington. And thank you for covering an understated part of our cultural history.
This album, Collision Course, actually put me on Jay Z. It was the Points of Authority/99 Problems track that fucking floored me
Rip Chester. Amazing writer and artist.
One of the best vocalists ever
Linkin park were approached by mtv for their 'mashup' series..once mike got done producing it, they realised they were onto somethin hot..made a 6 song ep out of it instead destroying the competition..lol
It’s insane how these two came together and made their individual music sound so great together. There will never be another collab like this.
Numb by Linkin park has been viewed 1.8 billion times. In the End has been viewed 1.4 billion times. They have been my favorite band since they first came out.
I miss you Chester...
This whole ep they did was amazing. They literally went in to the studio and redid all their songs just so they could put them together. And it came out sounding like it was always meant to be that way.
Miss Chester so much ..what a voice rip my friend
Linkin park is legendary
Yea Meteora had just came out or been out and they were both HUGE. Was ULTRA hype when this collab dropped.
Chester in an interview said he had reached out to Em a few times but never got it done.
1 of my favorite collabs, songs, live perfomance and they get grammy for this (when it have meaning)... Jeez, i miss Chester, LP and this Hova. GOATED in Prime.
I remember coming up & having this collab come out of NO WHERE 😁 I was so hyped for it because I’m a fan of both
They were probably both at there peak. There was a whole collaboration album with them just mixing both of there music. At the time it was just a genius move for both .
the album came with a VCD of studio footage of how this connection happened, Jay-z saw the opportunity and took it ! recordings in the studio with (RIP Chester) and the rest of the band. Jay in the booth re-recording his verses. simply fantastic highly recommend
there is also footage of them in the studio, re-recording. that is a must
Dirt off your shoulder/lying from you is my favorite song on the album. It’s a banger
When you combine 2 different music artist the result is 🔥
2:00 lol that is Joe Hahn, he is their producer, beat maker primarily and does everything live. XD
I'd also want you to check out some Fort Minor/Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park's rapper) solo stuff. He's very talented and good!! Probably very underappreciated realistically.
But also the rest of this one night concert was amazing!!! Would recommend all of it. I personally love Faint/Jigga What, amazing back and forth and beat mixing on that track
RIP Chester man, one of the goat's
during this time both of them was HUGE. This is the era I group up with and loved both hip hop and metal.
When Negan babe ruth’d that fool Glen had his eye hanging all out ⚾️😳
You should listen to the whole album. It's amazing. One of the best collabs ever. Really started tp the rap rock mash up phase of hip hop.
This band was my go to for everything in my teenage years... It is still painful to watch these videos but cathartic as well. Thank you for reacting to this, Stevie.
And thank you to who(whom?)ever requested it.
Somewhere on RUclips you can prob find the documentary / BTS video for the LP / Jay-Z Collision Course EP. It's dope. Started with The Black Album dropping, then they released an official acapella version of the Black Album so a lot of producers and DJs made their own versions of it. Mike Shinoda took the time to make some draft mash-ups and this was one of them. Then, they made it an official project where Jay came in and re-recorded some of his vocals just to ensure it matched up perfectly with LP music.
Great reveiw! This was a one time concert and the fans did not know Jay Z was performing. All Linkin Park said was a special guest was going to perform with them. Linkin Park also made sure the fans that showed up to the concert liked Jay Z. You should watch the 99 problems and a bitchhhhh anit one song ! You and your audiance will like that song.
Legendary collab! Rip Chester Bennington.
Congratulations on hitting 600k homie
Linkin park is massive on spotify, they have multiple songs over a billion there.
I know what you're saying bro. For me personally, back then when this collab happened, I was bigger into the rock genre. This definitely made me appreciate Jay more and check him out.
the entire album is amazing and theres live videos of pretty much every song on there, multiple shows for some. def all worth watching. even if its just on ya own time, that was an iconic moment for two musical cultures
This whole album was nuts. They mashed up perfectly and seemed to have this chemistry that just worked. The whole album is definitely worth a listen
Love this.
Jigga What/Faint to me was the best of all the songs.
The Lying From You / Dirt Off Your Shoulder mix also hits hard
Linkin Park is making a FORTUNE on their youtube channel. Those are some insane numbers of views. Their lower ranked vids still have hundreds of millions and they have 3 a billion or more.
They did a whole ablbum mixing theirs songs with eachothers songs. The whole album is fire
Bro Chesters voice is like Listening to a turbo building up!!! perfect
Linkin Park one of the few rock bands that was doing it hella big back then and still hold up today. I was surprised when I first heard Jay Z and Linkin Park had a song together not something you see common
They did a EP together, 5 or 6 different mashups I think. Check out 99 Problems/Points of Authority from this same concert, it is by far the best of the tracks they collaborated on, goes way harder than this... well, in my opinion at least
You have to do the whole concert Stevie! It's fire!
I forgot all about this song but still remembered every word!🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rest in Peace Chester Bennington
Gone way to soon
Classic🔥🔥
The Linkin Park album Meteora's 20th anniversary edition is 83 songs deep and *glorious*.
I seen Linkin Park back in like 03-04? Project revolution tour with Korn and snoop dogg. One of the best shows I seen
RIP Chester Bennington 💔
Linkin Park asked their fans a few questions, one being who their favorite rapper was . A handful fans that said Jay-Z were invited to this special concert, unknowingly what this concert was all about. So all the Linkin Park fans were also Jay-Z fans
Bout freaking time!! Got the cd DVD combo !!
it definitely did something because when I was like 8 this was the first jay z song i heard. Loved this song every since
Joji on the D-Pad busting out them beats!
I love the collabs! Both are awesome in their genre and awesome together.
Great reaction. Some tidbits....They were both at the top of their games at this point. There's a series of behind the scenes stuff about this collab. Also a dvd of this with all kinds of behind the scenes stuff. They dropped an EP together with this collab: 'Collision Course'. It debuted at #1 & went platinum. This particular track you reacted to won a Grammy in 2006. This show was an exclusive show for a specific set of fans of both Linkin Park & Jay Z.
I remember my friend had tickets to their show when I was in high school and I couldn’t make it, till this day it’s one of my biggest regrets because I was a huge fan of both artists.
I remember Linkin Park asked their fans how they felt if they happen to work with Jay-Z and everyone was like 😳😳😳😳 DO ITTTTT!!!!! A lot of people at the time were fans of Nu Metal and rap so this collab made sense! Such a time to be alive!
First time I heard this track I was at my friends house in middle school sleeping over and playing some halo 2 (lan party style) in his basement which had surround sound speakers to play music. While he was DJing I heard him play this track and was like “whoa! Who remixed this track?!?! It’s so well done!” (back then MTV and DJ’s would mashup a lot of songs so I thought it was a 3rd party DJ who did it originally) and to my surprise they were coming out officially with the Collision Course album! Back then Kazaa and Limewire were the shit too which is how I’d find a lot of remixed and mashed up tracks!
used to play that video many times during college
Chester Bennington…A great voice…rip
My dawg!!! This changed my music taste forever back in 8th grade!!!
Do the whole show, this 6 track mash up was one of my favourite projects all time
It's always funny when the military walks in
Yo Stevie! Worth checking out Fort Minor “The Rising Tied” as well… Mike Shinoda from LP and Jay did production work on it. Came out soon after this concert. Had some fun collabs too: Black Thought, Lupe Fiasco, Common, John Legend among others. “Remember the Name” is the song everyone knows from that album but the whole project hits hard.
Man I am a hip hop head of course I luv hov top 3 in my opinion and I listen to only one rock band like I do hip hop that's Linkin park luv them glad you did this
You're coming to your at the end saying this is a Linkin Park concert. It was special invite, both Jay-Z & Linkin Park were supposed to send it out to their fans & Jay-Z didn't so it is basically a Linkin Park fan base
YES. About time Stevie 🍻👈👍
Legends being legends, the amazing rapping from Jay and that beautiful voice from Chester, there's a video of Jay in a concert after Chester died, it shows how his dead hit him on a different level cause they knew each other, rest in peace.
Also Could you do some Gorillaz songs? They have songs with Andre 3000, MF DOOM, Trugoy the Dove (De La Soul), Del the Funky Homosapien, etc...
This album was one of my favorites of all time!! Like a lot of people are saying they both were in there primes so they were equally as big IMO! You have to remember Jays isn’t big on the social media and stuff like that and it took for ever for him to allow Apple Music to put has catalog on since he kept it on Tidal! Either way they both are fire!! RIP to Chester 🙌
This collab added tons of traction for JAY.... smart on his part. Thats why he's Jay.
Please do this whole album
I still remember when this video was played on MTV base back then, around 2005
live in texas place for my head. any song in Live in Texas is the peak of LP.
Congrats Stevie on the 600K subs! ❤️
One of my fav collab albums of all time ❤
A perfect collaboration
The “points of authority/99 problems” colab was incredible. Check that one out.
the dog in the back just chillin XD
So Linkin park asked their fans who their favorite rapper was and everyone who said Jay got to go free. This was as good as Run DMC and Aerosmith teaming up
Collision Course is my vote for greatest collaboration album of all time. Every single song was superior to the original version from both artists IMO. I still have my original CD rip in my iTunes, and listen to it whenever I’m feeling nostalgic.
So many people late to the game this was an amazing CD! My kids love this CD we are always rocking out to Jay-Z and Linkin Park!
Holy crap! I went to like this video and saw that I already did and was like waaa? AND I had commented on it 🤣🤣🤣
I seriously thought this was a new reaction! I wish I aged as well as you do, Ole Boy!
Still punches me in the heart tho. RIP Chester.
@BossLadyDee - I always gotchu in my heart, my shoulda sister, but I will never listen to Chester without thinking of you anymore. DAMMAT. Now I'm in my feels.
I miss that man.
You gotta do 99 problems/ Points Of Authority
You need to watch the video that came out with it in the studio when they talk about how it came about
My musical taste growing up lead me to Linkin Park before Jay-Z.
So for me personally this collab turned me onto Jay & his music.
Some DJ made a remix of Jay and Linkin Park and it got radio play. Jay heard it and liked it so much they made an album together.
They was both at the top of there game r.i.p chester
Stevie soon as you said that dude looked like glean that was it for me loooooool but what a tune back in the day this was huge still up there amazing raw tallent awsome
One of jay z’s coldest performances
uhmm how it happened, basically a mayor LP fangroup called LP Underground, had a (for fun) "who would be cool to see Linkin Park collab with" and Jay-z was voted no.1. Appearently someone from LP saw it and thought it was actually pretty good idea. This concert was a semi private concert only members from that fangroup could purchace tickets,. And this show happened before the album came out. So they had no idea what they were up for.
also side note, if you've not watched the "99 Problems/Points of Authority" it really deserves your reaction, best performance of the show, and my fav on the album
Rap or rock fan this Collab brought both genres together like no other in my opinion
Good old days 💔 our hearts still broken..
At that concert it was half (200 fans) Linkin Park fans and the other half (200 fans) was Jay Z fans. It was a surprise concert Jay Z fans only knew that Jay Z would be there and Linkin Park fans only knew that Linkin Park was going to be there. The tickets for the Linkin Park fans just said + surprise guest it was the same way with the tickets for Jay-Z fans as well.
LP were absolutely huge. probably one of the biggest acts around around the Meteora era
the only jay verses i can recite word for word are the ones on collision course
About time haha they canneled the show after this pair up 😂 not one could fall them up in mixing there music together haha
The whole concert man please lol
I hope you post your linkin park reactions on RUclips ❤️
