Linkin park is all about mixing the rock and hip hop genre. Probably one of the most influential music groups of the early 2000s
chester's voice is low key fire and why music in the 2000's managed to carry the torch and deserved to be popular...people from the past would be proud..he was unique and talented and could really sing his heart out
Chester's voice was incredible.
More like one of the most influential groups of the last 20 years not just early 2000s
@@Lemon-rk9hq for real hybrid theory alone has sold over 28 million copies most sold album in the past several decades
Probably..? They’re..
This audience was LITERALLY cut in half.
One side was Jaz-Z's fan club, and the other side was Linkin Park's fan club.
Neither fan club had a clue what they were being invited to or that the other fan club would be there.
There is a whole like 45 minute video of this on RUclips. Other concert footage, and behind the scenes stuff of how it happened and practicing/mixing/producing.
The collab video is definitely worth watching. I always remember Jay saying "you're wasting your talents"
wait, WHAT ? the crowd didnt know? wow
@@Beatriz-kj9up right i didnt know that
@@Beatriz-kj9up truth. LP and Jay Z sent invites to a secret concert to there top fans on a few fan sites. No one knew what was about to go down, and it became one of the coolest concerts of the early 00’s
wow this is amazing i didn't know that
Linkin Park came out like Eminem with Hybrid Theory. Like nothing we've ever heard before...👊👍😔
#RIPCHESTER
#LP🔥🐐🔥
this is 100% true!!
there were band like linkin park before they drop Hybrid theory. Like Papa roach, Taproot, POD, Crazytown, etc. But linkin was definitively the best.
@@monsieurfrank1 that's true, throw in rage of the machine in the mix as well
This is early hip hop. Commercialization changed hip hop, but roc and roll is a part of hip hop
Straight fact...
Bruh that's Mike shinoda. That man is super talented. Check out his catalog. That man can rap and produce. Linkin park was more than just rock homies.
It’s always the greatest thing seeing someone’s reaction to Chesters scream for the first time at 8:29
Gonna put you on to the rest of the songs off this Colab! The whole Collision Course was 🔥🔥🔥
best collab ever
Best album I ever bought
Best mashup album of all time.
They actually were close friends and JayZ paid respect and tributes to Chester Bennington after his death. I think we need more music crossovers like this. Music should bring people together. This was a great collaboration!
Linkin Park's first album is called Hybrid Theory, partially in reference to the blending of two genres.
Also look up Fort Minor - Remember the Name. That's Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park's other project. I think you'd respect that song
If I remember right, hybrid theory was linkin park's original band name too before they became linkin park
@@adamrodriguez4240 original name was xero
Pick anything from Fort Minor and that's gonna be a fire.
@@DanielGonzalez-tg7qg xero -> hybrid theory -> linkin park
*Here's some other rock/rap duos to check out.. Aerosmith and Run DMC doing "Walk This Way", Anthrax and Public Enemy doing "Bring The Noise" and some current stuff is Falling In Reverse with their song "Popular Monster" that I think you guys would like.*
I was thinking the same thing
Those are all 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘😎
Aerosmith and Run DMC were the original Rock/Rap mix. First to do it. The GOATS are Rage Against the Machine, though.
@@MichaelHamlin76 It was cool when a band that was pure rock and another that was pure rap came together to combine the two because it had never been done before. People stepped out of their comfort zones and started being more open-minded to other music. There's lots of bands today that mix both genres together as their sound. RATM is definitely one of them.
@@stephanieclark9849 RATM is one of them, yes. My point is that they are the best. I agree that it was a novel combination when Run DMC and Aerosmith collaborated. I remember the story on some documentary that I watched where Run DMC was looking for hook to sample for their recording. They ran across the Walk This Way hook and liked it. It so happened that Aerosmith was in another studio down the hall at the same time and a new genre was born.
i love how chester was just jumping around the whole song and at the end he's like: ok let me bring this house down ok? and after he does hes just like "thank you 😊"
Outside of big fans of Linkin Park, mike is super underrated as an MC, specifically as a live performer. He’s so smooth
The 90’s introduced the fusion of Rock and Hip Hop. So much to check out just like this Rage Against The Machine, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Deftones
Slipknot.
Beastyboys
Sorry but it started with RUN DMC and Aerosmith in the 80s
RUN DMC
@@soundescape1159 Sure did.
When Linkin park first came out they were considered a Nu Metal Band. Nu metal combines Rock/Metal with elements of hiphop and other genres. It was huge in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001. Linkin Park has a singer, a guy who who raps they have a DJ with Turntables or a drum machine sometimes, a drummer, bass, and guitar. Linkin has had some rapping in their music long before they linked up with Jay Z. Also RIP to my Nigga Chester 🙏. I dont even use the Nword but chester was a real one
Also folks have been mixing rap and rock music since the 1980s. Run.DMC did that back in lime 1984
I did the same thing you did when Jay-Z's face showed admiration for Chester on vocals. Rewind laugh, rewind laugh again back in early 00s. Chester had an amazing voice! You two are going to fall in love with Linkin Park. RIP Chester. I've watched a few of your videos, but loved your reaction to this one. Subscribed...from Ontario, Canada :)
They did a collab album called Collision Course! It’s 🔥. They performed the whole thing live, this is just the end of the show. Y’all should check out the whole rest of the show, show by song!!!
Linkin Park raps and sings. The rapper has his own rap group (Fort Minor). Jay Z and Linkin Park did 6 songs together.
Always cracks me up to see Jay-Z's reaction at the end. About as much as it cracks me up to see reactors react to it. 🤣
They did and album and got a Grammy
5:40 you can see Jay is feelin in.. flood gates open, and starting to really lean into the song. This collab is great cover to cover. If I remember right, you can listen to the whole album start to finish and it sounds like one continuous song.
They did a whole mash up collab album together, its fire!
Check out the whole Collision Course project, the entire thing is FIRE. 🔥
Jay has always performed with a live band. His "Unplugged" album is one of my favorites
oh yeah with roots band.
This is a pretty 🔥 song, but Numb/Encore is my favorite song from collision course. It blends so well together!
This album Collision Course was the first album I bought myself, and introduced me to Jay Z back in 2005 as a little 13 year old who was addicted to Linkin Park.
RIP Chester 🙏
Linkin Park during that era was absolutely epic. One of those groups that when you heard them for the first time you remember exactly where you were when you heard them. It was that mind-blowing.
mike shinoda is a underrated rapper, but is a great songwriter and producer. Chester voice is one in a lifetime voice RIP Chester.
This mashup was freakin genius. It was supposed to be a regular show on MTV where they’d match up rappers and rockers. The problem is that this thing was so huge it defeated the purpose of the show and it didn’t happen. The guy rappin with Jay is Mike Shinoda. Mike had a side project called Fort Minor and Jay made an appearance on the album.
Collision course was 🔥, it's like certain songs made by both artists were made for each other bc it was just perfect. RIP Chester
The fact that Chester and Jay-Z became such good friends that he did a tribute after his passing. Both Legends. From what i understand this was the first time he heard Chester fully belt the song at end so from what i gathered the look he was giving was a "hell, alrighty then" type vibe. Impressed with Chester but also just caught off guard haha. Loved it.
Love to see the younger generation appreciate some throwbacks!! Hip-hop/rap has a huge rock influences. Artist’s like NWA, public enemy, Em, Wu Tang, DMX and many more have mixed elements of rock. This collab still stands the time. RIP to Chester!!
This was part of a collab album/DVD they did more then 10 years ago. They did the whole album live on video. This was a classic project I remember buying this in Fort Myers FL. Back in the day. I'm In Indiana now
Rock & rap, (oldschool) hiphop & (punk)rock are amazing combinations. When Hiphop came up and was still underground, they often played in the same clubs as punk(rock)bands. Went well!
I bought this DVD when I was a kid in 2004. I'm 29 years old now and still watch it 🤘
Man..the way these songs on this album go together..its like peanutbutter and jelly...every track is a banger. If you listen to each song on their own and then listen to how they are put together...Awesome!
One of my favorite dual discs. Jay-z and Linkin park mash up. they had the studio version and the full live concert. One of the most amazing combo artist mash ups i've ever seen/heard. I suggest you watch the full concert or perhaps post each song mashup throughout time. The 25 minute concert was NUTS
When this was out in 2004 i say: this sh*t is gonna be apreciate only in 20 to 30 years... its a fkng classic... perfect union
i still have this original CD from when it first came out.. there was a DVD too with behind the scenes ... best thing I've ever owned...
I love that you can see the moment JayZ started feeling it in his verse
I was a fan of both at the time this came out and it was an amazing experience to hear parts from both artists mashed up together.
Yes when he paused it, my boy has said this is what the world needs more he’s right we do it’s unity
This entire album was fucking insanely good. Still one of my favorites to go listen to front to back at least a few times a year.
I am 30 today, I first heard LP as a kid, 15, maybe 16 years old. This song slaps today as it did back in the day, always hypes me up. This got me into Metal, LP were one of the gateway bands for me. Also heard a lot of hip hop back then, today not so much anymore. But still love that combo. could also check out bodycount or anthrax with public enemy.
This is the best concert performance I have EVER heard. I have watched this concert 100 times at least. This combination was magic. I just wish it would have happened more. I'm grateful it ever happened though. This was EPIC.
Amazing collab...u should definitely also check Linkin Park & Jay-Z - Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You !
Y'all making me feel old and I'm young...This was one of a few rock bands I even listened to. And I grow up in a country where rock is not even an after thought
My dude.. this is the first time I wound up on this channel and already i'm 100% onboard. The idea of bringing these people together is sooo important. Sick channel, and I wish the best for you and your partner.
Love seeing the head bob. Such a natural “im feelin this shit” head bob
I always said... Rap combied with real drums and some rock in the back has to be the best thing in the world. It jsut works so well. Gives especially agressive rap a whole new level. Rap always worked best in my personal opinion when it came with live instruments and a live bass guitar as well, Iam a guitar player from Germany and the best shows I did with friends that did rap was the ones "5 bands for 5 coins" and we hit it last with live instruments part elctric guitar and drums other part acoustic with rap. The two styles combined are just so much fun to work with and gives so many opportunities
You gawwwwd damn right.
So first time I went to a concert where there was this kinda mix was the first Korn “Family Values” tour Ice Cube was there! I can’t remember the year.
I remember when this came out and I was riding around with both rock and rap in my CD case for my car stereo. Me and everyone I knew was SO happy to see this.
It makes me sad that back then everyone was trying to come together and now it's all about dividing people.
This is the best rock/rap collab we will ever see
This was a lit reaction y'all. I bought this album the day it came out and I still listen to it. RIP to Chester bennington, a true legend.🙏
Yes Mike Schinoda raps in Linkin Park songs. He has his own rap group called Fort Minor. I GUARANTEE you've heard their track Remember the name...
And people been rapping in rock music since mid- late 90s. 🔥 Reaction!!
Other great rock/hip hop mixes: Nappy Roots /P.O.D- “aww naw” and Rage against the machine/OutKast: “bombs over Baghdad”. There’s tons more, but those are my two favs.
Theres a video aprox 35 min long on youtube with the making of this concert and the full 6 songs they 2 groups did.
This go back in the 90's with alot of bands
Been watching u guys for a few months now damn near everyday since I found y'all lol. Big fan of the channel and y'all are a very good looking couple. Keep these going, they're golden. 🥇💪🤘
At the end when Chester screams Jay-Z face priceless...RIPCHESTER
I agree. This entire colab is amazing. I look forward to more Linkin park reactions. RIP Chester!!! Knowing he went out the way he did gives their songs a whole new meaning to me. If u like the rap/rock thing please check out rage against the machine. You won't be disappointed. Another great reaction.
Love this reaction 🔥🙏🏼 Two Legends coming together LP and Jay-Z !!! Fly High and Rest Easy Chester we miss and love you ❤️🎙
Y'all need to check out this whole concert!
This whole album, Collision Course, is easily the best collab/crossover ever. Loved this when it came out and go down the rabbit hole every time I come across it.
I swear man Mike is so slept on rapping. If i could time travel this would be a place in time id visit this shit was so lit.
If I recall correctly, mtv approached Jay-Z about a mash up. He chose Linkin park! I still have the DVD with behind the scenes and concert. Short 6 song concert if I recall
Back in like 2002-2003 Collision Course was the CD we'd listen to on repeat on road trips.
Love that beatbox by Chester at the start. One of my fave in this performance. WHAT AM I SAYING? I loved everything in this performance i cant pick a favorite. Points of authority/99 problems/ine step closer is my fave from the mashup album.
Live in Texas - Linkin Park ♥ 💙 you would appreciate the passion & hard work this guys always put into their music
It’s always so bittersweet hearing/seeing Chester….this collaboration album was insanely good!
It’s called Nu Metal, the fusion of rap and rock started in the late 90s and early 2000s as a trend. But it went as early as 1970s Blondie rapped in her song Rapture and also Run DMC and Aerosmith with Walk This Way
Im new to your channel - you guys are picking some great songs! As to rap and rock, idk if you have done Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they do some of that. And, I've noticed a lot of rap fans, who say that Slipknot, they way he delivers the lyrics, is almost like rap - different cadences and such. Good stuff
Literally brought me so much joy watching y'all react to this. 💯 Thank you
Jay-Z's look at the end after Chester's scream is priceless :D
Yes, the man rapping with Jay-Z is Mike Shinoda. He has his own band called Fort Minor, which I highly recommend!
The hardest song Mike has created, in my opinion, was Kenji, because it's about how his family was treated during WWII.
If you like hearing rap and rock together, I recommend Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Fort Minor, P.O.D.(mainly their Satellite album), and Rage Against The Machine's song Bulls On Parade.
Chester Bennington ❤️✌️
You should DEFINITELY listen to the first two Linkin Park albums. So much rap from Mike and beautiful vocals from Chester. Please do, you're missing out!🙏
i know this videos posted 2 years ago but the guy rapping from Linkin Park is Mike Shinoda, he's incredibly talented, also has a rap group called Fort Minor
Homie, everything that Linkin Park has in their catalog is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
They weren’t the first to do that. Back in the 80s RUN DMC & Aerosmith did “Walk this way”. In the early 90s Public Enemy & Anthrax did “ Bring the Noise” & the crowd reaction was so good they went on tour together. There was even a movie soundtrack called “Judhement Night” where every song was a metal/ hip hop collab with various artist like Slayer with Ice T. And Onyx & Biohazard also did a collab remix of “Slam”back in 93. I was 17 & in the crowd for that one & came out in some clips of that video slam dancing. This has been a thing but the way the music scene has changed with both genres I don’t know if today’s artists would do that. Back then hip hop and metal had the same spirit & attitude. You should check that rabbit hole out ✌🏼🤘🏼
This
in 8th grade I got this album for secret center in class. I was so happy two of my favorite artist together. RIP chester. you should listen to one more light by linkin park
As a guy who grew up with LP, it’s really cool to see people discover them now.
RIP Chester
If you like that you have to do their version of encore. It's amazing
Non stop smiles the whole video
This collab album was one of the best things to happen in music to this day
Your exactly correct
Another oneof my favorite mixes is the Cover of "Mama Said Knock You Out" by Five Finger Death Punch and Tech Nine
love how, J Z and Chester had fun, they made this happen to have fun and get back to basic. fun and creativity
The 1st rock rap collaboration I remember was run DMC and Aerosmith walk this way.... But run DMC had added metal to songs like dmc's rock box previously in mid 80s
The mtv collision course was supposed to be a series and this was the 1st concert in the series. But the completely blew everyone away mtv felt that they couldn't continue with this concept so this was the one and only time this was done
Mike Shinoda is the guy rapping from Linkin Park. He was in another band called Fort Minor which had a pretty big hit in the late 90's early 2000's.
The guy rapping is Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park, he’s rapped in pretty much all of their albums
Run DMC did it with Aerosmith in the late 80's with Walk this way, and Public Enemy and Anthrax did Bring the Noise in the 90's
Back in like 2002 mtv was doing hip hop and rock mashups and they were supposed to do a ton of other bands and rappers together. But the first one they did was linkin park and jayz and it was so fire they just left it as that 😂
The original Points of Authority...is one of my favorites
The thing too is some of us really fuck with both all along but yeah it's amazing that they could introduce each other's crowds to each others music too.
For a great rock/hip hop collaboration I recommend Wugazi. They have an album together called 13 Chambers. It is Wu Tang Clan and Fugazi songs that have been mixed together. There are a couple that I especially like, Sleep Rules Everything Around Me and Ghetto Afterthought.
FIRST ROCK RAP SONG WAS AEROSMITH FT RUN DMC "WALK THIS WAY". SHIT IS DOPE
you are 💯 right we do need more shit like this who knows might just understand each other better, cause we all need to come together and stop the hate, we need to do better!!
Jay-Z & Linkin Park have a bunch of collabs and it's dope af
