@@Thorcat001 Yes, that is also true. And, where did metal come from? Rock n roll. And, they say it all comes from the blues. But, as I've said, rock n roll is accepted as a broad term, as well as a specific style.
I honestly had heard this song in passing many times, but never paid attention to it until this video, and the lyrics/music are incredibly well done, i slept on metallica for so long lol.
Metallica fan for 30 years. Its generally about addiction. However, its an actually story in 3 parts. 1st part is the drug calling to the victim to take more, you kind of know that its not good for you but you cannot fight it anymore. The second part (melodic/breakdown) is when the victim gets the drug (the high). The Third part is the betrayal, regret, guilt, dependence. This song is everything.
Truthfully it's what Ephesians 6:12 says in the Bible. It's not a battle against flesh and blood, but against principalities the rulers of darkness (demons, fallen angels, etc.). God's Word is the only weapon we need against it (addiction, sins, etc.).
Gotta agree, it normally takes folks until "chop your breakfast on a mirror" at least before they start considering drugs. But I'll also say this as a metalhead, I generally prefer to listen to songs (at least at first) without regard for the lyrics themselves, the singer's voice serving more as an instrument which accompanies the music. So I do think it's just as cool when someone is focused on enjoying the instrumentation over the lyrics.
gettin my 22yr old rapper nephew into metal as well was so satisfying. Passion for music translates to any genre. I think rap fans lean towards groove oriented stuff, that's why they're keen to love bands like metallica, who besides going crazy fast at times, they switch it up too, and the awesome lyrics play a part as well, judging by this vid xD
I love it when they eventually get to metalcore, got the clean hooks to grab people who ain't use to the screaming all the way through and the drums are usually disgusting
But this fool don’t appreciate it though dude can’t even bob his head which I didn’t think was possible when hearing this lol. I’ve seen a few rock reactions of his to know he don’t fuck with this type of music but knows it will get views and subs jus like nolifeshaq did before he started doin his dumb shit he does now. Honestly I only like to here Stevies yelawolf reactions cuz no one else shows him love really in the reaction game and Stevie knows hip hop
the song itself lures you in like drugs do with the melodic part. by the time it rolls back around to the manic part, you understand it and get into it.
Yep, the entire tempo is a drug feeling. Heavy and frantic, looking for that high, into soft and melodic when you ARE high, before heavy frantic need for another high
Yes, except that Dave mustaine wrote this, probably based off his own experience. Hetfield owned the vocals and rhythm/ backup guitar and fills, and only made it stronger because they kicked mustaine out of the band for the very reason this song was written
This song is a master class in structuring. Everything from the lyrics, to the verses, to music, to the tempo is all one big allegory for the subject of addiction
Well it's known be be in the Top 3 Metal Songs of all time (some argue it's the best of all time) and is defintely considered to be a masterpiece. The musicianship of the band members (Hetfield is a fucking rhythm monster), the writing, the lyrics and as you said the song structure. This wasn't just Metallica in their prime, this was the entire genre of metal in it's prime.
Every song on this album is about something that controls you. Battery is about their fans, master is about drugs, leper is about religion, disposable is about military soldiers etc..the whole album is a masterpiece, musically and lyrically.
Battery is named after the address of their 'home' club they started in back in San Fran. Battery Street was the location of the club (I forget the name of it at the moment). There's a comedy club called 'Punchline' there now............. Google Punchline in San Fran.......
It's about the Old Waldorf, a venue on Battery Street in San Francisco which was basically their (and the Bay Area scene's) home venue, everyone played there and the crowd were part of their early "family" and the energy when Metallica played there was supposed to have been above and beyond anywhere else.
Think of this song like this. The first 3rd of the song is like chasing the high. The middle 3rd the more melodic part represents the high. Then the last 3rd the more aggressive part is the crash and the come down.
Yesss, I was looking for someone to describe this in the comments 'cause that was one of the things I realized back then and love about the structures of Metallica's songs.. It just takes you on a whole journey.
My new hobby is watching RAP/hiphop fans listening to Metallica for their first time. If you look hard enough, you can see their minds and perceptions getting expanded.
You gotta find the right ones. I think that's becoming harder and harder since I think the fast majority are grifting. You'll notice that 1 big channel does a review of a random rock song and the following weeks, all the other review channels see the view count and ALL go and review that song. Its mostly a gift. Theres a handful that are trust worthy. I like this guy, I think he is a good one.
Agree completely, plus dude understands the concepts where some life long fans would never pick it up. Respect for good writing and honest feedback Stevie the best 💪
21:10 “Every line has been a metaphor, the entire song is a metaphor”. Yes, that’s more true than you may realize; the metaphor isn’t only of the lyrics, it’s true of the music itself too. The song starts high energy, like the craving for the drug running through your veins, making you jittery,, but if you notice when the guitar solo comes and Lars’s voice saying “master” starts to fade and that guitar slows and becomes sweet, that’s showing the moment when you take a hit and for that moment, there’s no craving, just euphoria. That euphoria fades quickly though, and the craving and desperation comes back, worse than before, and you see that the peace you got from the high is a lie, but you need another high, again, and you’re calling to your master. The cycle repeats until you die.
I've been listening to this song for years, and I only realized this recently. It really shines in the fact when you get back to the main rhythm, the immediate next line is "hell is worth all that".
@@riz3310 I actually agree with you, but having watched a fair other bit of reactions to this song, you would be SURPRISED how many people just fail to get the point (hint, its a lot).
At the time of writing & then recording it in studio they were well on daily alcohol & cocaine use & abuse so this song had very much deep personal meaning & is exactly why it's so brutally honest & raw. Still holds it's own after all these decades later!!

Leper Messiah from that same album is DEEP. Fun Fact: The Master of Puppets album was added to the National Registry for preservation (Library of Congress) in 2015 for its works that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Not too shabby for a thrash metal band
This songs construction is brilliant. First half is the wanting of the drugs (heavy, in your face sound) the middle is the finding of drugs, the high euphoria you get when high (slow, melodic and pretty) then it ends with the crash. (Chaotic, more evil sound). It's the steps your mind and body are going through as an addict.

My best friend died of a heroin overdose 8 months ago, we were always jamming the first 4 albums. Haven't listened to much Metallica since, but especially this song, until today. It's hard but I'm glad I did, It's still an amazing song, and I know he'd be rocking to it if he were still here. RIP Brendog ❤️ Stay away from hard drugs fellas. Not worth it
I've always struggled to see how a group of 20 year olds could write this album, I'm a psych ward therapist and I couldn't write Sanatorium, the writing truly is next level.
Well, that's exactly it. You're a therapist, they're writers. You use your talent and skills to help people one-to-one...maybe in a group session. They use their talents and skills to bring a broad message to the public, but can't focus on any individual.
I run a recording studio and I write and play as well. We are most creative between the ages of 24 and 35. Most of my clients that come up with some really creative and next level shit are in between that age group most of the time.
@@JBSampson88 A psychward is not something many people have experience with nor would I ever wish that anyone would, and thats the reason sanatorium trips me out, I have to see people who are confused, told to take medication that can make them numb, the doors are locked, no escape, everyone around you knows what's wrong with you but still fail to actually understand, this can lead to things like violence and self mutilation, the depths of that horrible experience was shared in that song at a level I wish our staff understood. Metallica is my all time favorite band and its because their depth of writing and ability to translate are second to none.
I was 13 years old the first time I ever heard this song, I am now 34... To this day I credit this song for keeping me away from drugs my entire life. This song resonated with me as a kid, when all my friends started experimenting and I said no thanks.
Good man. Looking back it's so fucken sarcastic how Metallica was the first thrash metal band for me, I started to play the drums because of it, I remember playing this song too around the age of 9 and even playing it on the guitar after I pivoted to that 10 years after playing the drums. All that and still I wound up wasting my life for 3 years exactly as it says in the lyrics. My DOC was speed, but it's all the same, it's just the people fiending for them that have different tastes. "Drugs are so good they'll ruin your life." Ain't that the truth. I'm so glad I made it out before hitting the needle, that shit is evil or so I've heard. Hope erryone is doing okay, especially the ones battling with addiction. That shit is no joke
Seeing someone who isn’t necessarily a fan of metal immerse themselves the way you did is a wonderful thing, nothing but respect for you for taking a step outside your comfort zone ❤❤
I don’t comment too often to reactors but Metallica is my favorite band and I’ve been listening to them for 35 years. I’m 49 years old. I was impressed you picked up on the meaning after the first few lines. I’m sure I’ll be repeating a lot of other people when I say “more Metallica!” It’s all good. Peace.
Another cool thing is the construction of the song itself represents addiction and drug use. The hard chords at the start are when you're fiending for it, then when it gets calm and soothing is the high, then when it gets hard, is the come down. This song is a masterpiece.
Finally I read a remark that actually understood the melodic meaning. If you've ever been on drugs or alcohol you would understand just as they did while writing it and and living it just totally made sense.
And the first half is from the viewpoint of the user while the 2nd half if from the drugs viewpoint. This song is a legit masterpiece that most of its meaning gets looked over
I’m about to hit 4 years clean and this song helped me so much. I’m getting a tattoo that says “more is all you need”. I kept thinking that the next hit would satisfy me, but I always needed more.
Man i salute you. I wish I could find the strength to get clean, been addicted to coke for about 4 years now. whenever I start to build up the courage and start to really get motivated to get clean after a couple of weeks my mindset completely does a U turn to “I’ve got the money, let’s just get more then I’m done” and it’s a vicious never ending cycle, starting to think it’s impossible. So much respect for you bro and keep it up, just remember how good it feels being clear minded and fresh, no drug is worth giving that up for
@@Redeemed2Righteousness it’s ok to ask for help, actually it’s preferred with addiction. I had a moment of clarity and I told my parents about my addiction to amphetamines. Not only are the lyrics genius, but the music itself represents the high, the low, the comedown, and the repeat. Notice the breakdown in the middle is the euphoria the drug brings, the how it builds up to your want/need of the next fix. One holy hell of a classic!
P.S at the young age of 23 James Hetfield (Guitar/vocals) was seeing so many people fall off while using cocaine. Lars (drummer) and Kirk (lead guitarist) were heavily into cocaine at this point, but James stuck to alcohol, not realising that he was too struggling with a drug himself, and later had help for it. Yet Lars and Kirk were fine.
PPS, the 7 times I’ve seen them live I always see the young fans living this song, and rightly so, but not noticing the warning message! Keep up the great work 🤘 Edit: just as a ‘did you know’, 99% of Metallica tracks have a message!
I've always thought it was both. So much of his music is on this topic. What I found most heartbreaking was how much his writing fell off after he got clean.
"This is straight poetry". Now you know why us rock lovers feel like so much newer music is terrible. We define music as poetry set to amazing sound. I remember being totally confused by the question "do you like music". I mean, who the heck doesn't like music? Then I came to realize that some people don't get that heartwrenching whole body feeling of connection and understanding and expression when they listen. Maybe they just don't listen to music that has real poetry in it, or maybe they just don't hear the poetry when they listen. Even though you aren't as thrilled by the sound, which I totally get, I could see that you were excited and jamming to it because of the message. That was awesome to see.
Stevie...I stumbled on your channel on accident, and I'm so glad I did....listening to you break down Master of Puppets....epic! I hope that I'm seeing a lot more of your take on rock and metal song....great job man...thanks!
Fun fact: When James Hetfield writes his lyrics, he already has the melody and syllables set and just finds words that fit and then goes back to make sure it makes sense. So he doesn't, or they dont, make a song with lyrics in mind, its always the last thing they do, as the music comes first. And he STILL gives you barz!
That's awesome! I don't think I knew that - thanks! I'mma see if I can say that in front of my husband and impress him since he thinks he knows everything about Metallica. (I have a feeling this will backfire)

The song itself is a roller coaster, like being on drugs is. Its angry, its mellow, its insane, etc... In my 20s back in the 1990s I did A L O T of coke. I was living and working in Hollywood and thought it was the "good life". The line in this song that goes 'blinded by me you cant see a thing' is totally fucking true! Yo the melodic part In the middle is symbolic to the actual high and comming down from the high and then then the adrenaline kicks in and needing more. The song in itself is a bar lol.
You have more perception about the song in the beginning than most have at the end. Your keen eye also picked up on the album cover which the majority never do. I’m liking your style.
This guy's reaction shows why MetallicA is so goddamn good! They were writing at a super high level in their early 20:s. I love Maiden, Priest, etc and was 15 when this album dropped in '86 and knew this band was a notch above the others. The songwriting is next level....which is why they are so HUGE!!!
It's crazy to see that Metallica in their early 20s had so much insight of life/the world and how damn intelligent they are not only musically but verbally as well. Like think of the song creeping death. Very in depth knowledge of the bible and the skill level of the music is through the roof. James Hetfield was more intelligent in a drunken youth than most sober people are in their 40s lol.
I wish I could see the alternate universe where Cliff lived and they continued to grow from Puppets. Of course Justice was incredible but it's a bit unfocused and chaotic. The writing suffered heavily without Cliff there to add his perspective, he seemed like the most musically gifted one. It was him and James together that made Puppets what it was. We can only imagine what that next album would have sounded like. It wouldnt have been Justice but I think it would have been even better. I would sacrifice Justice to get that album instead.
Hip hop and gangster rap have a lot to offer as well. I’m a huge fan of both. I’ve listened to method man and Tool on the same day and loved every second of it.
The beginning of the song when it was chaotic is the crave for the drug, then the melancholy tempo change was the euphoria of the high and then back to the same vicious cycle….this song is geniusly written
@@mathiasbach7405 Agreed. As much as his drumming is subpar and he's just an annoying human, he really is a visionary when it comes to shaping the band's direction and pushing things forward. Doesn't always pan out well, but he never wants to stay in the same place and I respect that a lot.
Lars is good at getting ideas out(He came up with the "Ride the Lightning intro, for instance), Kirk has actually written several of their most memorable riffs(Like the chorus riff of MoP, here) and his lyrical contributions are quite good. Overall, they've proven that they are a surprisingly effective team. I love how people now, these past two years-ish, people outside of the metal community are seeing what we've all been saying. It's not just angry noise. Actually listen to them. I was listening to Metallica in high school (51 years old now). It's awesome when I see someone (that isn't what you would classify as a Metallica fan) acknowledge the significance of what they were singing about. This country isn't nearly as divided as the media wants us to believe.

I LOVE watching people hear Metallica for the first time. ❤ Especially when they say they aren’t a rock fan. Everyone I’ve seen ends up really enjoying the music.
I love that the song structure itself plays into the meaning of the song. The intro is aggressive and angry, the drug trying to convince them to use more, then they give in and use again and it gets all mellow and chilled out and relaxed and ethereal, until the inevitable comedown hits and it gets real dark before going back to convincing them to use again. 10/10.
As a long time Metallica fan who was inspired to learn bass over 20 years ago by Cliff, I really enjoyed watching you experience this song for the first time. You picked up on the song's meaning so fast too. Very insightful.
"They talkin bout drugs" Me, that crazy metalhead kid who wore black all day every day to school and always had a Metal band T-Shirt on: "THIS MAN GETS IT!!!" I love this though for real. So many people think these songs are just about going out and seeking fights and being aggressive but like... nah, dude, it's anger towards the human condition. A lot of these songs aren't promoting wars, they're talking about how BAD war is. They show you the nitty gritty with some dark as FUCK symbolism saying "If you fight in this war, you're causing death and destruction. Look at these children dying on the road after their legs have been blown off by a land mine. This is what you caused." It's horrible dark stuff, but we don't sing about these things for our own sick twisted pleasure, we sing about this stuff to shock you into realizing what is happening. or they talk about what drug addiction looks like: "If you partake in these drugs, you're killing yourself. You've let this drug become YOUR MASTER." Also: And I don't know if you uncover this BUT: The composition of this song is also pretty amazing. The middle section/breakdown is essentially switching the mood from the perspective of the evil drug to the perspective of the person high on the drug. It gives you this lofty, weightless feeling of euphoria before crashing down into that hard section again. And I just gotta say: A lot of the really good metal out there is all Metaphors for the topic they're discussing. Some of them are right on the nose, but a lot of people only see the surface and think we're all talkin about some Satanic shit all of the time. Definitely not. "Blackened" and "...And Justice for All" are some other really good songs by Metallica where they delve into some difficult subject matter using some harsh/evil imagery just like this song. Glad you enjoyed it :)

So I do think it's just as cool when someone is focused on enjoying the instrumentation over the lyrics.
Can you suggest some good yt channels that react to metal songs and explain the meaning behind them

Why is it so satisfying to watch hip hop heads listen to heavy shit? It's nice that you actually listen and appreciate the artistry.
Hip hop is also heavy many times. There is an undedground connection between rap/hip hop and rock/metal
gettin my 22yr old rapper nephew into metal as well was so satisfying.

Yep, the entire tempo is a drug feeling. Heavy and frantic, looking for that high, into soft and melodic when you ARE high, before heavy frantic need for another high
The lyrics afterwards are the addict talking about what the drug failed to provide and the solo afterwards is the crash and withdrawal.
Yes, except that Dave mustaine wrote this, probably based off his own experience. Hetfield owned the vocals and rhythm/ backup guitar and fills, and only made it stronger because they kicked mustaine out of the band for the very reason this song was written

Exactly. I’m glad other people get that even the tempo is illustrative of the experience. 👍🏻👍🏻
It feels a lot like a piece of classical music. That's the beauty of metallica, the best of their songs are truly composed.
THE LYRICS!
I think you can stop after "this song is a master class". Period. Donezies
Or to be more specific about Leper Messiah, how the pastor/leader controls, rather than the scripture
@@fairwindsphoto Yeah, there is a weird prevailing illusion that Battery is about their fans. They have literally said its about where they started.
It's about the Old Waldorf, a venue on Battery Street in San Francisco which was basically their (and the Bay Area scene's) home venue, everyone played there and the crowd were part of their early "family" and the energy when Metallica played there was supposed to have been above and beyond anywhere else.
Perfect comment! Hope Stevie sees it
Think of this song like this.

Well done bro.
Good music is good music. I totally am with you.
Wow nice interpretation!

This songs construction is brilliant.
A lot of it was based on life experiences. Things seen, and experienced.

I've seen them live 3 times!
James Hetfield is one of the best song writers in music, not just metal, in all of music
I would give credit to Lars too. Not because of his drumming skills, but because he’s great at coming up with ideas and structuring their music
@@mathiasbach7405 Agreed. As much as his drumming is subpar and he's just an annoying human, he really is a visionary when it comes to shaping the band's direction and pushing things forward. Doesn't always pan out well, but he never wants to stay in the same place and I respect that a lot.
I have thought for awhile now that James Hetfield writes some of the very best lyrics of all music.
I can't wait to hear what Rob brings in on the next release, and we're pretty much guaranteed to hear a hel of a showing from Kirk's "redemption-run" to make up for the lack in the last release.
@@jaded9234 I’m a relatively new Metallica fan. I’ve always known some of their stuff, but I never really got into them. But in the last couple of years I’ve enjoyed their music a lot. My favorite band is still Korn, but I thing Metallica might be my second favorite. One thing that has bothered me a lot since getting to know Metallica better, is the all the hate that Lars gets. I know he has said some stuff in the past, and that he isn’t the best drummer, but what is it other than that? Because he’s actually a great musician in my opinion.
"It's not that appealing to me, because of the rock" then proceeds to rock tf out the rest of the song
I love how people now, these past two years-ish, people outside of the metal community are seeing what we've all been saying. It's not just angry noise. Actually listen to them. And your reaction and immediate grasp of the message is exactly why we love metal. You saw the whole point right off the bat. It doesn't beat around the bush, isn't shy of calling out exactly the problem and gives form to what everyone quietly knows. Metal is passion.
The intense energy. I grew up listening Metallica in the early 90's I was 16 and my friends all listened none stop. They were massive in the day. They still are on the very top of my list.
Master of Puppets -- all killer, no filler, and the single greatest Metal album ever recorded.
Among The Living is. DESPITE the singing!
No way ride the lightning is but master of puppets is awesome so is kill em all.

@@markhomer2524 Ride the Lightning used to be my CD to fuck to. Lights went out. Guitar starts up. As the girl's clothes are coming off she's getting more scared but then by the end she's begging for more. I of course tell her shut up, don't say a word til after Fade to Black ends. I was usually in post cum bliss when Fade to Black was starting haha. True Story.
such respect for you expanding your horizons like this bro and diving into stuff that you wouldn't really be looking for and still giving it that respective, listeners ear. you experience music the right way regardless of genre and you're doing this shit the right way man. keep it up brother! road to a million!
Ya which is the exact point I subbed to him I feel he keeps it real and is honest and is willing to listing to METAL music but he's going to tell the truth and be respectful about it. So that tells me when and if he likes a song it's not fake.
everything about this song is FIRE. the lyrics talking about drug abuse. as well as the music itself, being like what someone on drugs would go through. the start is fast and hectic, a little panic to it (like someone not having and looking for their fix). the breakdown, slower part (like someone that just got their fix).songs speeds up a bit (like someone starting to come down off the high, realizing they need more) ending goes crazy ( sobered up and now back to where you started, freaking out looking for more)
And the middle part is so short, emphasizing how little pleasure you actually get from the cycle. Really well composed.
Funny how we can interpret him talking about drug use, but at the same time, the MUSIC is the DRUG to US! This song, all their music, IS a triple en tendre, and I would have never thought about it being a triple if it was for Stevie's breakdowns.
Seeing him realize what the song was about and breaking down the lyrics was so cool
I was listening to Metallica in high school (51 years old now). It's awesome when I see someone (that isn't what you would classify as a Metallica fan) acknowledge the significance of what they were singing about. This country isn't nearly as divided as the media wants us to believe.
thas gotta be racist💀
wow this is such a different reaction to this song than i usually see lol a lot of people dont even realize theyre talking about drugs
Everyone knows its about drugs. It was never a secret
All crew members wrote this song. Every member of Metallica added a little and made this truly amazing and meaningful song. There are many songs with meaning if you like to dig deeper!
You can't imagine how mind blown I was the first time in listened to this album as a 12 year old kid. Changed my life forever
Their nickname was “Alcoholica”
They have all had their struggles.
Went on the powder when the Gallaghers brothers showed up in the load era
Personal experience is the best source material for music. Gotta go through it to write about it with meaning.
@@auunnfkristjansson6738 Kirk and Lars were already on coke way before that lol
Honest.
I became an alcoholic during quarantine, your breakdown of this song (I have never heard) made me also breakdown and you literally helped me and I'm trying to stay clean now. I doubt you'll ever see this. But truly, Stevie, thank you.
Hope all is well for you brother!
I never tire of watching people hear this for the first time.
God I wish I could watch my 13 year old self listen to this song all these years ago.
I never thought id see the day a hip-hop/rap head appreciate the rock culture so deeply
You should follow lost in Vegas. It's amazing to watch their journey through rock and metal.
I fuck with both heavy but I dress more like a metal head haha
@@thefaceless8796 Love those guys.
Music is music. No need to separate
@@thefaceless8796 trash talkers too
They really, truly get into and appreciate what they're listening to
The entire album is a masterpiece
As a long time Metallica fan who was inspired to learn bass over 20 years ago by Cliff, I really enjoyed watching you experience this song for the first time. You picked up on the song's meaning so fast too. Very insightful.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤜🤛🏾🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥 so glad u like it bro!!
"They talkin bout drugs"
Me, that crazy metalhead kid who wore black all day every day to school and always had a Metal band T-Shirt on: "THIS MAN GETS IT!!!"
I love this though for real. This is what you caused." It's horrible dark stuff, but we don't sing about these things for our own sick twisted pleasure, we sing about this stuff to shock you into realizing what is happening.
or they talk about what drug addiction looks like:
"If you partake in these drugs, you're killing yourself. You've let this drug become YOUR MASTER."
Also: And I don't know if you uncover this BUT: The composition of this song is also pretty amazing.
Great comment my metal brethren
Bro wrote a whole essay
@@slimycrocks8615 as we all should every once and again do as well. Just as long as it's not a flat earth rant.
Damn, I was just thinking literally last night that I'd love to hear one of your style bar breakdowns on some old Metallica, and this shows up today. Dope video man
I was just saying that I'd love to hear him react to Battery and then this pops up
Metallica isn't just bad ass guitar and drums, they have amazing lyrics!
Yes!
I love how he says, during the first part of the song, that the music isn't really his thing, his style. Then, by the 17:50 mark,he's headbanging FIERCELY.
LOVE IT!!! 🤘
It's impressive how you were able to catch the meaning so quickly Stevie! I know people who are fans who didn't catch it!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 this is why you're so respected!! Much love and keep up the good work!!
Him explaining it makes me feel like I’m listening to this song for the first time again. Mad respect
You have no idea how happy this makes me.
Growing up with this.. showing every single person you know... and having an unspoken bond with whoever showed you... ugh... music is everything... ❤
So great to see the kid in me light up when the kid in you hears the essence of "cool".
Stank face... big ass smiles... yup... Metallica
James Hetfield (singer) and Lars Ulrich (drummer) wrote most of their songs. They were addicted and are now clean. Loved loved the reaction and the comparison to Kendrick Lamar 💜
When he did the comparison to Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne I was like "Woah". When my husband watched it he looked at me and I said "That's a really big deal, Babe".
@@ianwakers he was an alcoholic, which is a type of addiction
How the hell did Lars never get fired?!?! Dude stopped practicing and got so bad ... like BAD
@@forevermarked5826 He's really not that bad...
@@forevermarked5826 Him and James were basically lifelong buddies and started the band together. They were never going to fire or scapegoat the other. They had Mustaine and Newstead for that, lol. Even Kirk they've given a hard time sometimes. But Lars and James basically consider themselves the "untouchables" of Metallica, the original core of the band.
