    Any quarter hunt with a key date quarter and a semi key date nickel is a win in my books too.😅

    love your stuff man! i just got back into collecting after getting my old collection from when i was a kid. My grand dad passed away about 8 months ago and i used to do it with him when i was 8-15 every weekend going all across Ontario to shows. in the past week i have done 2 box's of quarters. only 1 silver but quite a few upgrades for the 70s to 80s. Going to teh bank today to get 2 fresh boxes. (my bank lets me mark the boxes and just exchange them for ones i haven't went through)

      @@CADRollHunter thought I would give you an update on the box of quarters. I got 3 silvers (2 68s and a 1962) also had tons of upgrades for the 70s they looked almost proof like. Not a lot of colour but was a killer box!

    A beautiful quarter of 1971, my birth year! Early 70s are really good when in nice condition. But your 1991 is really the gem of your hunt. I found just 1 so far in about 18 months of CRH. It's even better than the average silver coin... It's surprising you didn't get Charles IIIs, as I got enough now to make nearly a full roll. The dimes are much more difficult to find. I just had 750$ worth of quarters (1.5 box), and the very last roll gave me a beautiful 1956 80% silver. Lots of color for me too, and quarters are still fun to hunt. I remember the bank from which I got the 1956. I asked for $300 of quarters, and I always insisting on picking up the loose rolls from the "main work space" before picking up some from their ordered boxes. They got in the vault and brought me back 30 rolls. I asked if they had more plastic rolls, and they had 9 more. He let me look at them all, and remove 9 rolls I don't want. I checked the edges, and took all the rolls with suspect edges. The 1956 was in the 9 plastic rolls I instested a bit more to have. Nice pay off, even though it requires some strategy, and more comprehensive staff...

      Are you referring to the Poppy quarter? It's multi-ply plated steel, as indicated by the 'P' composition mark on the obverse. The mint did produce a silver remembrance day quarter in 2004, but it doesn't feature the colour poppy and does not have the 'P' composition mark.

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you get machine-wrapped rolls, you're likely getting ARP coins. Alloy Recovery Program. Essentially, the mint tales in all the coins returned and keeps anything 2000 and older - essentially anything with nickel, copper, or silver. They melt that down and sell the metal to fund its ongoing operations. Modern coins are mostly cheaper steel.

    Interesting that people just turn the American quarters into the bank as “regular” quarters. Is there no way to take advantage of the USD to CAD exchange rate and turn them in for more CAD? Otherwise, I would be hoarding the American quarters and then exchanging them when the exchange rate is favorable.

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter  7 месяцев назад

      The only way to realize the premium on exchange would be to take them to the States and spend them. No banks or exchanges here in
      Canada will accept coins.
