I've *NEVER* found one of these before. Coin Roll Hunting Canadian Pennies
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 фев 2025
- If you watch my channel, you know I absolutely LOVE hunting Canadian pennies - when I can get them. The penny was last produced in 2012 and the Mint is actively removing them from circulation. When pennies are deposited at any Canadian bank, they are supposed to be returned to the Mint and melted down.
But if you're lucky, you might be able to get your hands on some. And if you do, you never know what you might find. In today's hunt, we found something I've never found coin roll hunting before.

Amazing finds, especially the George V pennies (since I also owned a few Canadian KGV pennies) alongside those two British copper coins! Also, thank you so much for the shoutout.
Fun tip: Britain went decimal by February 1971 to replace the base 240 version of the pound, and later on the decimal halfpenny were removed from circulation by 1984 being the country's least favourite coin, with HM's Treasury thinking it was important to fight against inflation.
Thanks, Gilbert! And thanks also for your membership! You're my first member in the Philippines!!
Congrats on the George V find well done. My favourite Royal portrait on our coins. Wish Charles’s looked like that
While I like his modern business suit and tie look, the throwback look with all the regalia would have been pretty cool!
Wow I can’t believe you’ve never found a king George V in circulation. I’m from Indiana and I found a 1927 George V cent before. I had no idea it was so rare to find.
They're exceptionally rare, to be sure. But, I've now found a bunch, and I've found 3 King George 5th nickels, as well. Incredible that you found one in Indiana!
@@CADRollHunter You’re video convinced me to dump out my jar of foreign coins for the first time. I found a 1953 shoulder fold.
@@JJJRRRJJJ Have fun looking through them!
I got so excited for you when you found that 1926! That’s of the few holes in my post-1920 penny collection.
Thanks! I hope you find it!!
WOW Incredible indeed, James! Sweet KG V finds! Looks like an album dump. Keep filling those album holes! Always great to see Canadian cents saved from the smelter. I will be sending more content your way by the end of the month. Hint, I hope you have the USA half albums😉
I'd better figure that album problem out real quick! Looking forward to it!!
great hunt! so cool to see all those old pennies
Thanks, Jack! I appreciate you watching!!
After seeing this video, I think it's time to hunt another box of nickels. I haven't done it in a while. Where I live (Northeastern New - Brunswick ), my best box of nickels was 55 pre 1964 and 1 20 pence. I had a roll of 37 finds out of 40 coins.
Wow! Sounds like you definitely need to hunt some nickels! Good luck!
Wow Georgie 5 are very hard to come by, I found a 1928 and a 1932 in my last pennies hunt one month ago for the first time me to. Congrats for the 1926 amazing 🎁
That's awesome! I'm glad others are finding them too. Hoping some of the key dates are out there, too!
What a hunt that was! Congrats on all those King George V finds :)
Thanks so much!!
The joys of penny hunting. The extra fun feeling when you find your own pre hunted rolls😂
These are as they came from the bank. If you're not certain of that, watch any of the other penny hunts on my channel. You'll see they're usually much less eventful.
@@CADRollHunter i dont mean it in that I don’t believe you, i mean it in that ive gone to the bank to hunt penny rolls and i got back ones i had sent back to them months before, especially since they are out of circulation.I think your roll this time was a jackpot!
Ah! Thanks! I deliberately bring them back to other banks, or sell then to others who want them for something. Anybody buying those rolls would be sorely disappointed!! 😞
Christmas in July. 😉 🎉 Nice score.
You got that right! Thanks!!!
Wow! Those KGV coins are fantastic! Congrats!
Thanks, Bill! That was an awesome roll, and a great surprise!
@@CADRollHunter Hey Buddy,
I have a ton of Canadian pennies I have put aside. Alot of older ones, even back to a good shaped 1920. Different kings style, old and young queen. Some with different designs. Boxes of Canadian pennies.
I collect and sell alot of pennies and have always put aside all the Canadians in my hunts. Are there any that are worth a considerable amount of money? Key dates? I have a huge variety. I have subscribbed to your channel since I did not want to loose you. Look forward to hearing from you.
Very nice! I always love getting king Georges in my United states penny boxes. I can't imagine finding that many KGVs. Nice hunt.
I jever thought I'd find one, let alone this many in a single roll!
What a wild hunt! Just goes to show...they're still out there!
Absolutely! I'm glad I found them. Makes me wonder how many get melted down each year and how many of these oldies are actually left...
Well done, James! So glad you got your bucket lister!
Thanks so much! Now I just need to get me a 1923! Lol!
@@CADRollHunter I actually got the 23, 24, and 25 a couple months ago (maybe I already told you), so it's not impossible!
Congrats on those KGV. I have only found a couple 1920 and a couple 1936 in my penny hunts.
Thanks so much! That was such a crazy roll. It's incredible that I've gone this long without finding anything, and then get 9 in a single roll. That's the way it goes with CRH, I guess. Good luck in your hunts!
Congratulations on the great finds James!
Thanks, Alrik!!
That was a solid hunt.So many finds.😊
Thanks, Kevin!!
I came across a beautiful 1964 “Young Head” that still has a great deal of luster on the penny
Very nice!
Happy to still find Canadian Cents in box searches in Idaho! I have been collecting Canadian and U.S. coins since 1975. :)
Wow! What are those Canuck coins doing all the way out in Idaho! Glad you're finding them!
@@CADRollHunter Nice to find them! :)
it looks like someone rolled their old collection and handed it to the bank. great find James. very cool
Always nice when that happens!!
What an awesome hunt!
Thanks, Brian!
WOW! Just WOW! Great finds especially the oldies KGVs!
Thanks, Emanuel! This was a great bunch of rolls!
Back in about 1972 I was really into penny collecting. In the Buffalo NY area I would typically get quite a few Canadian pennies and even some KG5. So many KG5 that I started filling the slots in the book. I didn't get all of them by any means but they were not totally uncommon.
That's great! I didn't really expect to find any now, that's for sure. A very nice surprise!
Nice hunt! Very cool on those older ones.
Thanks, Nicole! Until now I've had a better chance finding old wheat cents here in Canada than King George 5th!
Those KGV are nice finds. Also check the 1941 Wheat cent. The is a few different DDOs for that year
I'll have to take a closer look. I'm not familiar with all the errors and varieties in US cents.
wow those king george the 5 th are crazy finds
Thanks so much, Pierre-Luc! What a great surprise!
Wow Amazing Hunt Lots of Oldies!!!
Thanks, Dave! This was a great one!! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
I think I might have seen some kg5 when I was a kid in the 90s, didn't collect them back then though
Too bad you didn't keep them!!
Great finds with the KGV. Was wondering if you have found and 1978 with doubling on any of the digits but also on the legend and queen on the obverse? I've also found some with just the doubling on the obverse
Thanks! I've found lots of 1978 with doubling on the date. I don't find they're as dramatic as the 1979s are. How about you?
I can't believe you actually found a King George v in a Canadian Penny roll
I know! Pretty awesome, eh?!
So my local branch refused to sell me pennies, but as you say, many other branches do...if they have nice head tellers. I hit up A LOT of different branches here in the 416 and I get calls from time to time from branches I haven't been to begging me to come get their pennies. Haha. So what I do is I go through them, pull out the ones I want (and the us stuff) and then return the ones I don't want to my local branch who refuses to sell them to me. WELL, there must be a lot of paperwork involved because they don't appear to want me to bring any more, but what value does that bring to their shareholders, so I keep bringing them to them. haha
Lol! That's karma for you!!
I just found 6 King George V’s and 5 US Indian cents including one from 1865. And also a bunch of King George VI’s
Wow - that's a fantastic group of finds!
Nice grouping of early KGV cents. If you could ever find out who dropped those pennies off at the bank you could find out if they have any other old coins you could look at.
That would be incredible. My tellers are good at calling me if anything unusual comes in.
Awesome
I've found 3 large cents from a 3 lb world coin bag.
One of them was an 1864 Large Cent from Newfoundland, shame it's fire damaged
Those are some pretty fantastic finds in a bag or World Coins. Did you find any silver in there? Sometimes it sneaks in!
@@CADRollHunter Yes, it was a 2 Qirsh from Egypt. From 1942 (1361)
Dad does, family calls coin store to ask if they buy pennies, the store says no, family pops pennies out of Dad’s penny book.
Uh-oh!!
What a fantastic hunt! Congrats on all the george the fifths!
Thanks, Tom! This was an epic one!
cool coins...
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Hello CAD Roll hunter I’m looking to buy the vista coin albums from lighthouse using your discount code. I am thinking of buying them without dates. Do you recommend getting the ones with dates or without dates. I’m thinking the ones without dates are better so there will be more room for varieties and error coins. I just wanted to ask you the expert 😅. Thanks, Matt
Matt - the ones with the dates are definitely missing many varieties, as you'll see in my penny hunt videos - I had to add an extra page and make labels. The undated ones allow you to organize them however you want and leave spaces for only the varieites you think you might find. Good luck!!
@@CADRollHunter thanks CAD roll hunter. I think I’ll get the blank ones. Can’t wait for more coin roll hunts
Impressive
Thanks, Bob!
Ihave hard times finding any bank that i can buy pennies from, sometimes i can get lucky and i find a teller to let me buy some. Also for the year m.leaf i found alot of 47 ml nickels.
When you find a bank that will sell you pennies, you definitely want to keep going back!
Thanks if you send me your address I can see what I can send you. When I can.
What album were you using for your penny collection?
I'm using the Lighthouse Vista Nature album. You can get 20% off at lighthousecanada.ca using discount code CRH20. Lighthouse is a sponsor of this channel.
@@CADRollHunter thanks. 👍
Where do you live in canada?
I'm in Southwestern Ontario.
Beans
Cool beans.
1931 is not common.
It is a harder to find date, you're right!
Hey james, nice finds:)
I recently got 2 bank bags of pennies from one of my banks, it is around 62$ FV according to the teller. They all seem to be more or less uncirculated 1963s and 1964s. I know that you are into looking for varieties and such, so let me know if you would have any interest in those as i do not have any use for them, just shoot me an email if there is interest:)
For sure! I'll email you when I return from our cruise, if you can wait until next Monday! Interestingly, we have no internet, yet the RUclips Studio app still seems to work on the Ship network. Very strange!
@@CADRollHunter Yeah, no rush:)
Great, thanks!
