- Today we had an incredible find in our quarter box. Of course we're always looking for silver, which is always nice, but every Canadian collector actually looking for something more rare and even more valuable: The ultra-low mintage 1991 quarter. Minted at just 459,000, this is the holy grail for Canadian coin roll hunters. It is the key date in modern Canadian coins and is super hard to find.
But we found one - and in a mint state, as well!

It's a fantastic hunt when you can score at least 1 album space filler. That 1991 is a prime example of why CRHers do the crazy stuff that we do. Great video James!
Thanks, Greg. It's all about the thrill of the hunt. Most of the time it's just a hunt... but sometimes, you find the treasure!
I got 2 of the canadian 1991 quarters. Very fortunate!😅
For sale I might add.😂
Awesome hunt! I really enjoy your coin roll searches from Canada. I'm in Kentucky and I hunt rolls while I'm watching you.
learning a lot about Canadian coins. Love the colorized coins too!
I'm glad you're enjoying my videos! Thanks so much for watching!
Just binged like 20 videos!! Good stuff
Awesome! Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos!
Omg! I've been waiting all week for this video cant have a better find congratulations 🔥
Wow! I hope it was worth the wait!!
Holy smokes, what a great find! Congratulations!
Yes! Thank you!
I love the 1991 coin, my favorite. Nice find! I'm one to keep dealers in business. I've bought a few graded 91's.
Coin roll hunting is fun, and it's cool to find coins like this, but they're not always in the greatest shape - if you want a really nice coin, sometimes you've got to pay for it!
@@CADRollHunter true, however, I am impressed with that 91...i would be happy with a roll hunt.
Congrats on the 1991 -- I have only found one to date, too! What a find -- better than silver! The book is looking good!
I was pretty excited to see that date show up - and in that condition, too!
That 1991 had crazy luster for a 31 year old coin! 😳
Awesome hunt. I can't wait to start roll hunting Canadian coins now! (I do miss my US hunts, though. 😂)
I'd have to imagine that someone had it in a collection for it to be in such great shape. Good luck with your Canadian collection - there's lots of great stuff to look for!
Nice hunt. My 2 fishing trips to Canada produced some nice old nickels. Some 20's and 30's.
Now those are some good souvenirs!
The U.S. quarter from 1998 was the last of the American Eagle reverse. Definitely keep that one.
Do you think they'll bring that design back?
Congrats on the 1991, keep chasing that Large Bust 73
Thanks - hopefully it's still out there waiting for me!
Congratulations on that amazing key date! 😃👍 Would it be worth it to get that graded?
Except for the wrong denomination coins you found some great stuff! Rare coins, good quality old and new coins and of course a very offensive coin (that is actually the first time I've seen something like that in any CRH video 😅)
I haven't considered getting it graded - I'm not actually certain what I'd do here in Canada. There is a major grading company that specializes in Canadian coins, but they don't 'slab' the coins. They're sealed in mylar flips, essentially. With respect to the "offensive" coin, hopefully my editing kept the video family friendly! It was a bit of work!!
@@CADRollHunter ah yes, I've seen those "officially flipped" coins in some videos. I don't know how much that coin would fetch when graded with one of the well known US grading firms. Probably way less than US key dates, right? 😏
P.S. Your editing was great!
That 1991 was gorgeous and an epic find. I always love the variety of the Canadian quarters that you find in a hunt.
Definitely epic - thanks for watching!!
Me too, luv the 91..!
years ago when sears sold coins, in a section of the coins i pick up a 1991 quarter for seven dollars, i didn't know about the low mintage at the time but still have it, and hate the alloy recovery program these coins will show signs of rust.
I agree - nickel won't rust like that and is super-durable, as well.
Great video
good job on 1991
Thanks! That was a great find, for sure!
It would be crazy if you found a West Point minted quarter from 2019, 2020. I hope you do.
I'm definitely on the lookout. I haven't found on coin roll hunting, but did get on in change once! It's the only one I have but it's in a mint state.
Awesome Hunt
Thanks for watching!
Do you get the coin books from the bank or mint and what’s the damage on it… I’ve got the horrible old vinal books for my pennies and large cents. I’d like to get them out soon ( passed down from my dad ) they are old.
Jay - you can get the Lighthouse Vista albums from Amazon - I believe they're a bit different than the ones I have (they're older), but these are the best albums for Canadian cents you can get:
Pennies 1920-2012: amzn.to/3xA0tPy
Large Cents: amzn.to/3XKUG4m
Nice hunt q
Very nice coins
Thanks, Mary for watching! I appreciate it!
The DAY I decided to start collecting coins, I found a 1991 in my car!! Congrats
That is awesome! Not a bad start at all!!
@@CADRollHunter it got me hooked, that’s for sure! I have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer for…I have found a few 2006 RCM pennies that are magnetic. But I don’t see that variation listed in the Charlton book. Have you come across any of these?
@@RockyMountainMinted Michelle - yes there are several varieties for 2006 and I believe they are all listed in the Charlton book, but they're broken up over several pages, which makes it confusing to see easily. Here are the varieties:
2006 No P No Logo Non-Magnetic (Zinc) - Common
2006 No P No Logo Magnetic (Steel) - Rare
2006 P Magnetic - Low Mint
2006 P Non-Magnetic - Rare
2006 Logo Magnetic - Common
2006 Logo Non-Magnetic - Common
@@CADRollHunter thanks so much! I’ve been duped before by this book breaking things up, so thanks again
Hi. The variety of older coins in pretty good condition was fantastic. I was wondering. Was the 1991 from a London Gold Buyers roll or from one of the customer wrapped ones?
It was actually in one of the customer wrapped rolls. (I had to look back at the video to see for sure!).
@@CADRollHunter Okay. Thanks. It sure was a nice find. I personally have only found 2 in the wild. One in 1991. The other in 2003. And it's like the Kennedy thing. You remember exactly where you were when it happened. lol
After my first comment I thought hey is he going to put the '91 in the book? I think it deserves special treatment!
I definitely thought about putting it in a flip, but it will be safe in there!
Yo james, hows it goin’ haven’t talked in a bit!
I'm doing well - I hope you are, too!!
@@CADRollHunter thanks! Appreciate it james!
I have a 1990 quarter but Yvette price on it
Hey Cad Roll Hunter is there a Canadian coin price guide that is comparable to the Red Book?
Absolutely. You'll want the Charlton Standard Catalog of Canadian Coins www.amazon.ca/2022-Charlton-Canadian-Coins-75th/dp/0889684324/ref=asc_df_0889684324/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341679570458&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11259125477130730988&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001059&hvtargid=pla-1791252477112&psc=1
My local dealer wanted 800 canadian dollars for a roll of un- circulated 91 quarters.
That's not completely unreasonable, but the asking price for a single coin on eBay today is between 15 and 23. You'd think you'd get a bit of a better deal buying the whole roll, though.
Yea considering he bragged about buying 8 rolls for 300
Wow! Your dealer was definitely trying to maximize their profit...
The 1978 small denticles quarter is worth more than face-even when circulated.
I haven't been able to determine what the ratio of small to large denticles is. Do you have an idea? Thanks for watching!
Where can I find a list of key dates for Canadian Roll Hunting?
Send me an email at cadrollhunter@gmail.com and I'll send you something.
Did you get the 1991 graded?
I have not! It's something I'd consider, though.
I don't think I've been this early before!
I appreciate you tuning in!!
I mean it happened to me people put coins like ten pence in the Canadian quarter rolls i just tell the bank and they give me the money back
That's great that they'll do that.
hello james this is my new youtube account that I will use instead of the numismatic gold king now I will make my videos on this account
Great! Thanks for letting me know - looking forward to seeing your videos!
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Stupid newby question. How do you reroll the coins?
Most of the coins I hunt are in customer wrapped rolls. So I just put them right back in the rolls as soon as I hunt them (back in the same wrappers).
@@CADRollHunter I subsequently watched your intro to coin hunting video. It was great. Thanks.
@@davearchbell9921 OK, great - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
don't you know Canada is in America too?
Lol! Don't tell that to the Canadians!! Well, we're certainly in North America, but, of course, when folks talk about the "Americans" they're only talking about those in the "United States of America."
The best find was the American nickel melt value around 20 cents better than 5
US nickels are 75% copper and 25% nickel. Their melt value is about 6 cents (US). 1981 and earlier Canadian nickels are 100% nickel and have a melt value of about 10 cents US.
Hello cad roll hunter found ya
Hey, Malcolm! Thanks for popping in! I appreciate it!!
1990 Canadian quarter how much😊
This is not a rare or valualbel coin. A 1990 Canadian quarter in circulated condition is worth 25 cents.
你好!1987年升值高達價值多少!有兌換處地方嗎?
I'm sorry, I can't quite understand your question. I tried google translate, but it wasn't very helpful!
I have 1 coin whitetail deer 1871 do you interested?
I'm not sure what you're referring to.
Have you recovered yet, or are you still partying?🥳
Ha! Still partying a bit!!
Would you help me sell a couple of Canada coins
If you have questions about your coins, I can do my best to answer them, but I don't sell coins.
Hi
I have canadian coin 1991
If it's a quarter, that's a key date. It's also a harder date to get in nickels, as well.
How to send the picture of the coin I have?
@@russelpadillo2662 You can email me at cadrollhunter@gmail.com if you'd like.
And first

It's unfortunate people have to deface coins 🪙. Still a very enjoyable video 📹. It's always a good video when you find that many coins that upgrade.❤🎉😊.
Thanks 👍
