The citizens of Oakland are collectively responsible for the never-ending lawlessness in their city. Time and time again they elect mayors, city council members, judges and DA's who enact policies and make judgments that treat criminals as victims and treat victims as the problem. However, the chances that Oakland voters will vote for candidates that are actually willing to do what it takes to significantly reduce crime and hold criminals accountable for their actions is nil, and so their problem will only continue to grow. Cities generally have the amount of crime that they are willing to tolerate, and clearly the people of Oakland are willing to tolerate a lot of it.

Only a few years ago, I'd see big groups of Oakland Kaiser staff walking together downtown and around Lake Merritt. Kaiser encouraged staff to walk at lunch time as part of their "Thrive" initiative.
Inside Kaiser sources indicate that the ""Thrive Initiative" will be replaced March 1st, with the "Survive Initiative".

Remember, the residents voted for this. The mayor was ELECTED by the people. It's California. Same all across the state. They complain, but continue to vote for the "same color, same people, same policies". There is no connection between cause and effect. A sort of cognitive dissonance. To the residents, "It's just unfortunate", that's all.

I saw a great development in the Laurel today. A police substation on a Hydraulic Lift. Good three weeks ago a reckless driver peeled out of Planet Fitness , crossed the double yellow striking the 57 AC Transit just in front of the flex on this articulated bus.
And they are getting reparations for businesses not wanting to be in their communities throwing fuel on the fire.

Kaiser should offer free lunch for their daytime shift, and free dinner for their evening shifts. They have a responsibility to keep their working class employees safe. They should not be going outside for meals. The odds are against them are high, and getting injured can be life-altering. Kaiser security should also escort employees to their cars.
Kaiser already does a lot of those things. You'd know if you watched. Or go look at benefits for some of their posted job openings & security offerings online.

Being able to have access to health care is more important than getting a sandwich at lunch or dinner time. Keep the employees safe, - NO venturing away from the offices or hospital. And do whatever it takes to stop the medical center from closing.

I have driven through that area just tonight and it was such an ugly scene, redlight runners, high speed up and down International BLVD and many other streets.
I do not like this place.
They were driving crazy like that here in Albany one day and the cops were out hunting them down 😂 I got out of their way drove slowly getting distance between us and then I saw the increased cops coming around
