    Arequipa was the place that inspired us to think about moving to South America - it’s so beautiful there we just wanted to stay! In the end Cuenca Ecuador won out as place to call home but Arequipa will always be a favorite.

    The visit to Arequipa made an interesting video. I liked that you took us first to where they mined the volcanic stone and then finished the video at the city of Arequipa. The art work on the Arequipa buildings that were made out of volcanic stone was exquisite!

    I'm here just to see how to pronounce Sillar and Arequipa, and thank you so much

    Arequipa is actually a modern day Petra since it is a stone city. Peru has actually 2 rock cities, Arequipa and Cusco

    Probably it is too late. But Arequipa has its own regional tasty food -> Picanterias. 2 dishes are strongly recommended 1º Rocoto Relleno 2º Chupe de Camarones arequipeño ( made using river shrimp as ingredients )

    How many days did Peru give you as tourist visa ? AFAIK they can stamped a 180 days visa ?

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  3 года назад

      We never planned to stay more than 90 days so we didn’t need to ask for longer than that!

    Thank you for sharing these incredible sites. The stone carvings are original and artistic. Such natural amazing statures ! I was really worried about you both getting lost in these canyons. Would you be able to notify the police to locate you ? What a relief that you made it back safely to town again. May God grant you Safe and Sound all your life !

    I love the video!!! Just a quick question, did you guys have to register your drone upon arrival?

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  2 года назад

      Hey! We did not register our drone. Many people bring their drones to Peru and I don’t think it’s ever an issue. As long as you respect people’s space, and the rules of any tourist attraction, you shouldn’t have any problems bringing or flying a drone. Just be prepared for high altitude flying. Our Mavic mini (1st gen) could not handle flying over 3500m elevation. So pretty much anywhere near Cusco. Hope this helps!

    Funny . I did get it. How much did you pay for getting into the Sillar Area ?

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  3 года назад

      5 soles each. All the prices are in the video :)

    Okay, I loved seeing all the sculptures in white made of 'volcanic stone' but enchant the uneducated, from which volcano?? The 'ancient ruins of Petra in Jordan"... what? why? this is Peru. Lost here. Wonderful artists!

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  3 года назад +2

      Arequipa is surrounded by 3 volcanoes (Misti, Chachani, Pichu Pichu). You can actually see them in some of the drone shots in the video. And there’s no real reason for the sculptures and Petra… they just wanted to design some artistic pieces out of stone for tourists to see to represent the skill and artwork of stone workers from Arequipa. It’s like an art gallery.
