I was 17 years old in Hollywood with my best friend and family and we were shopping for my 18 hole Docs (Dr Martin’s) and they were shooting this video and they asked if we wanted to be in it. I was so excited to be in this video and meet the band. They were totally cool. It was an awesome day for me. My first pair of 18 hole Docs and get to meet the band And be in a video. Still a great song 29 years later!!
Mick did the same with The Clash and Carbon/Silicon. The Clash's intro to Guns on the Roof is pretty much the same as Clash City Rockers which was inspired by The Who's I Can't Explain. Years later on Carbon/Silicon's What the Fuck!, Mick again uses the Clash City Rockers intro
He is sampling himself, so it's a win either way. Mick Jones was one of the first rock musicians to see the value in sampling and do it creatively. He was at ground zero for 2 music revolutions, his originally has never been in doubt.
Thank you! I was just going to post that I read he sampled all night long as well but I couldn’t hear it…. He sampled some crazy stuff…didn’t he sample the drums for sweet pea by Tommy Roe in Rush?
You see all those kids at 0:43 wearing identical white tees with black and red lines? We were walking in our annual "March for Hunger", a 26 mile walk from Skid Row to Santa Monica to raise money to feed the homeless. It was just a coincidence we were there - and we got to be in a music video. How LA is that?
Man, my parents played the hell out of this when I was a kid. Neither of them remember this! Well I sure as hell do. Thanks to The Clash for reminding me of those good 90's years before everything went to hell. Time to make more good times for the kids of today.

When I was a little girl I would put on the whole album that this song came from early in the morning as I was getting ready for school. I am now a 40 year old woman and I still like to play this music but now it's dancing music for my little children ✌️💙😊. Love this song!
These comments have my heart very happy. It's amazing to see all you 90s and 00s babies remembering BAD with fondness. My daughter approached me a few years ago because she was making a playlist to listen to while doing field research. She had most of the other bands she grew up with, but she couldn't remember the title of the "choo! Bless you" song. I'm fairly certain she added most of the Down At The Globe album to her list. It's interesting to hear about what our babies remember and what things remind them of their old Mommy.
Music is not far from what smell, and taste; and their being able to lift a long forgotten memory. And allow us to remember a better time had And in that, we can give a reprieve from the here and now Thanks Mick 👍👍
Didn't know of BAD until the early 90's and was BLOWN AWAY! I'm from Chicago, Illinois. A friend brought the cd for the road trip we went on tripping on cid and boy that was a memorable day, Lmao! We must have played that album a boatload of times, BAD is definitely underated. I was organizing my pad and came across the cd box minus the cd, hopefully it's around somewhere. Either way we have RUclips, YEYYYYY!!! Cranking BAD super loud cruising in the classic car I had at the time was mega epic!!! I had a 1971 Chevy Caprice with a stereo system / speakers to rival as if you were at the concert. Great times and beautiful memories. "Esta. Loca" epic line from a Chicago House music jam Classic, I was blown away they used it. Mega Dope!
I grew up listening to Big audio dynamite and this song is still worth jammin to The Globe is a cracking record. Highly under rated. Should i stay or should i globe ? I love that he sampled himself.
Still one of my favorite bands! Formed by ex-guitarist and singer of The Clash, Mick Jones back in 1984. They were one of the first to do sampling and I think they did it more creatively than most even to this day. So many great songs and lots of great sampling!

I was a just baby during the release of this album and song by BAD. Music like this is a microcosm of everything that was great about the early 1990s. As far as I am aware, Big Audio Dynamite was one of the few bands in the history of music that could incorporate samples without sounding derivative and transcend sonic barriers without sounding genre-less and cheap. Today's "alternative rock" music (if you could even call it that) is mostly industry-manufactured, soul-less, uncreative garbage subjected to artistic depreciation for the purpose of catering to commercial expectations.
In 1979, Mick Jonas and Joe Strummer lived in this small country in Central America, called Costa Rica. And, for me that these two great guys co-wrote the song London Calling, it was an honor and privilege to put Costa Rica on the world stage. I would be born until 1983, and I would know Big Audio Dynamite, until 1999. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇨🇷💙🤍❤🤍💙 .

That is a truly awesome and essential early 90s high school fantasy story come true. The Docs, the band, the video and the holes.
Best. Comment. Ever.
you rock. i was thinking, i would've KILLED to be at this shoot! and you scored it!
That's pretty cool. Thank you for sharing
Those suckers are expensive. But they last…(the boots)
Mick Jones. The only man on the planet who can take 2 guitar chords, make a song, and 30 years later, you're STILL not sick of it.
The Beatles and Prince already did it.
no joke, aye? i had been trying to think of their name for about a year now, lol. well worth the wait. freakin awesome music!
S Kim DO NOT DARE DIMINISH JOE'S riffs. Two cords?!?

We need to go deeper...
IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CLASH: SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO 😏, YOU GOTTA LOVE MICK JONES, HOPE JOE STRUMMER IS HAPPY FOR HIS BANDMATES , GOD BLESS HIM 💒💐
Yeah...that was the coolest "self shoutout" ever.
Oh blessed you..
I am 45 and just missed this band. These guys are truly awesome and extremely unique. I have never heard anything this unique.
We're you asleep during the 90s...?
@@robzilla730 Well I know I wasn't asleep. POW🙃
Hugely influential. Stone roses and Happy Mondays, Jesus Jones, EMF, Pop will eat itself, all owe a lot to BAD
This track never gets old, and it still hits!

He also sampled the drum intro of "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie on the extended version.
WOW ten years ago. Mick wasn't sampling, his cousin Andre Shapps produced BAD's music with Mick.

Mick Jones represents everything good about the spirit of music and human nature

OMG! I remember when cruising Melrose Ave. in Hollywood back in the 80's. Those were the best days. Now too many people get robbed. SO! SAD.
