@@SRM_NZ There are none so blind as those who do not wish to see. Is this about individual confidence? Fail to see that, as your comment was about all being equal. Well if the colonisers had taken heed of how Maori perceived their world and not be driven by greed, our lands and oceans may not be in this state. As with many other countries through out the world. Their belief in their own superiority has brought us all to this. Be safe SRM NZ

Its doesnt stop you from being a Maori. there are plenty of other places to teach your babies how to dive for kina 🙄
Protectection of these reef will make the sea healthier bringing us more kaimoana for the long run. Imagine not having kina to dive for because there are none. Being Maori is protecting our taonga, pass that down to your children

Maori have always been ecological minded.we should celebrate this. If you want to make a quick buck fish off somewhere else. It does not make it illegal to be Maori, be Maori and practice cojservation that's Maori too.

What did you expect? open your eyes and see how being Maori IS/ARE treated as been an illegal immigrant across the entire NZ society, which is normal because its been going on since the invasions and dispossessions from the 1860's. I still find it incredulous that the Maori language is used (Motiti) against Maori in such a way yet Maori continue to act as if they are somehow part of NZ society; having rights when their rights were ignored from the beginning. It's clear who owns the foreshore and seabed and its not Maori, it never was after their conquest. I got to question why Maori hapu rely on the same one sided colonial system yet expect a different result from the covert disownership that characterises the negotiation process of kawanatanga.

I agree, Maori should be allowed to fish traditionally and remain maori.
No power boats, no scuba, no spearguns, no dredgers. No modern rods or nylon or metal hooks. No masks and snorkels.
Whaka, flax Twine and bone hooks only, then the law will not stop them being Maori.

Every Maori mad about colonization that isn't actively fighting the current one by China is just spouting hypocrisy, the unity stories in the past far out weigh the separation ones, they just don't get told in proportion so people today that have nothing going on, want to bring up bad things done by people who have long died to other people who have long died.
And hold living people accountable and by today's moral compass!
England had abolished slavery by the time they had come here, yet We maori owned non Maori and Maori slaves, we pay no reparations to because we just denied it after the fact.
(This is documented everywhere in early history and ships captains logs, look at the Auckland islands whale station story for an example, you can see it in an 1996-97 edition of NZ geographic)
Today, as of TODAY are you helping unity into one people or just increasing the divide and sticking to your tribal ways?
Then wear grass and walk everywhere but don't hassle me to throw in with you unless you want to envelope all these white kiwis into the tribe as well then everyone can fish there or no one can. Don't try exercise some privilege over anyone Karen.
