John was one of the most prolific song writers that has ever lived. Did so much so that we could have a better planet, and died so misunderstood by many. RIP John- see you on the flip side.

A voice and a guitar. No auto-tune. No high-tech production. Beautiful. This song gets me choked up every time. Thanks, John.

John Denver was such a great entertainer, singer, and man....conservationist, environmentalist, pacificist, and more. His songs had depth, emotion, insight....things you just don't see in music today. I think his "I want to live" version is one of his best. Where have good men, good "country boys" like John Denver with conscience and integrity gone? They certainly can't be found in government and among CEO's of banks and such! God Bless John Denver....you left us much too soon....

John Denver gave a melodic call to our hearts and it's truly relevant today. We are the family of humanity on planet earth. We can - we MUST - by the grace of God in our lives - find a better way.

Yes, I too am a Colorado guy (Estes Park) and was fortunate to see JD perform twice. The best part was always when the band went off stage and it was just him and the guitar. This is where he could really shine through. He was not only an excellent composer/singer, but a great guitarist (seldom mentioned!). I'm fond of saying that his songs provided the soundtrack for our growing up in and around Rocky Mountain National Park. Each summer my brother, Brad Fitch, does several JD tribute concerts.

This is "our song" (my wife and I). John once said this song contained the best lyrics he has ever written, and I agree. Decades ago I bought a Guild 12-string acoustic guitar for the sole purpose of playing this song like John Denver played it. I was never anywhere near as good as he was, but this song is as meaningful today as it was 47 years ago. We miss you John, you were one of the greats.

If only the world would take the message of this song truly to the heart... we would find a way, determination and will for peace. JD embellished this in our hearts & souls; together "we can find a better way." Our relentless effort keeps the best meaning of John's life alive. When you grow tired of trying, just rest and become inspired again with John's songs. Remember, other JD fans are with you-- even though you have never met face to face -- it's in the synergistic spirits of love that we accomplish the most.

True, he had so much hope. "determination and will for peace" was his theme. Likely kept him going when his relationships didn't pan out-still he believed in love and reconciliation above all things. This desire to belong is timeless. John Denver's fire to end hunger, halt ecological destruction were big goals that he believed could get done. The gaps that separate us could be overcome with love and trust as the bridges.
He was a romantic, not hopelessly. There is warmth in his eyes that don't betray his convictions that people can provide for one another. He was a believer who took it upon himself to convince the cynics that there was a better way, mutual aid and cooperation the way forward for humanity.

To Jane: John was the BEST! How I wish he was still here, but I'm sure he is happier where he is now. And STILL singing!!!

The first time I saw John Denver on tv I mocked his looks and music. I was told off by a girl called Anne Burke who knew better. Within a few weeks I had his albums, I have loved his music and his lovely face since 1973.

My lovely ex-wife bought tickets for my Mom, and us for her birthday.
It was the best present my Mom ever got.
He did the whole show by himself, it was the best consert I've ever seen.
When my Mom passed on I had them play Sunshine on my shoulder...
    It was her favorite.

When I see him singing here I feel he is still with us. I suppose he always will be with his song and his humor, but most especially with his love. RIP, John.
