I am 70 yrs now,but i have listened to and loved his music and songs since i was 15 yrs old,the way he makes his guitar sing along with him is an absolute delight,i am fighting depression and was diagnosed recently with leukaemia,so when i feel down and alone i just listen to John's music,it takes me to better place.the whole world needs to listen to it.take care everyone.💔

I’m 43 now. Had this song on my parent’s record as a child and thought it was so boring. Now it hits right to my soul as it did my mom and dad back then. When it came out, they they were 21 and probably didn’t get it either.
I cried buckets when he died! I am 70 years old, and I still love that beautiful voice and these wonderful songs. He is missed so much.

This man was so much ahead of time, it's unbelievable. I recall that he was looked down on, but people just didn't realize how much he cared about the environment and nature. He was a gift for all to enjoy. A humble man, that was grateful for the gift of talent given to him and loved to share it. RIP Mr. Denver.

I don’t recall him being ‘looked down on’...But, maybe it was the crowd I hung with. I became a fan when i first heard his music in ‘71. My brother in law, a green beret, played all Denver’s songs in his Gibson guitar and serenaded my sister with them. Darcy Farrow was a favorite he’d sing to my sister. Later, they named their only daughter Darcy!
John Denver’s music has enhanced my life since I was 21. I’m 71 now and I still play his music❤
The world lost a giant of a man. We mourn JD but treasure his gift to humanity. RIP JD, your kindness and inspiration gives us all a lift.

I am 78 and his music never grows old. Whenever I feel down I listen to John’s music and somehow it refreshes me and soothes me. In my mind he was one of the greatest singer/songwriters of my lifetime. I truly miss his presence in this totally messed up world.
@@michaelleach5797 I sure do miss him, his eyes were like a smile and they were kind, you could read his face, country boy who loved his Colorado.. another person who I love,but not like I do JD, is Garfunkel,of Simon and Garfunkel, I love their music, it's a shame they stopped recording..and a group, though there were many I loved, The Beach Boys touched my soul," In My Room", is so me.. our time has passed but we have there songs to listen to.. but JD, no one can take his place

I have asked my family that if they hold any memorial for me when I die, they include this song. It captures my attitude to dying perfectly. I did not do or accomplish a lot of things I would have liked to, but it's been a good life all in all and I can leave with no regrets.

I wonder what great songs he would've been writing and singing. But, fortunately, we did have him for the time he was here.
This was one of my mother's favorite songs. She lost her battle with pancreatic cancer a few years ago, and we played it to her as she passed away, and had it performed at her funeral. This beautiful song will always have a special place in my heart.

One of the most beautiful song writers and singers the world
This is one of my favorite songs and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard every version from the original on the album of the same to this one, with all the versions in between. Of all of them, my favorite was the Evening With version. I felt that the band at that time, Steve Weisberg, John Sommer, Dick Kniss and Hal Blaine, provided the best backing for John.
We all die but very few leave a legacy to match John Denver.
Woke up with this song on my mind, so here I am listening & singing along with John again.
One of my favorites by him. Such an incredible man & musician!

Every time I hear this song, it makes me cry. John Denver was truly a "song's best friend". Although his songs were about nature, protecting the environment and the human condition, they were so very true. - A man totally ahead of his time and so many critics just dismissed him with the proverbial wave of their hand. Now his songs are standards. I miss seeing him and hearing new materials. So sad he was taken from us way too soon.
I don't think this world would be as much of a mess if he was still alive.
JD was one of the few performers who was even better live than on his recordings. My favorite version of Poems is on the Evening With album.

Yes absolutely. I have over 3000 albums of all genres, but that's the one I'd grab in a fire or to take to a desert island. An utter masterpiece. I just regret never seeing him live in concert.
I'd read interviews with people who worked on his albums and they said he'd do 3 takes of a vocal, but each one could've been the one you put on the record.
Anyone who love and appreciate this song is definitely my friend.

I occasionally have anxiety attacks and the first thing I do is put John Denver music on. Concentrating on his voice, the rythym of his music and the subject of his songs helps to calm me down. He is very missed! I am slowly introducing him to my son and grandchildren. 🙂
Charlene. Thank you for sharing John’s music with others. Please know that in doing this, you are helping to heal others, often without even being aware. I am a retired social worker and a long time JD fan. I was blessed to see John 16 times over the years and always felt the healing quality in John’s voice. For many years I counseled my clients who were stressed to “take two John Denver songs and call me in the morning “. It’s amazing how many of them responded positively to John’s voice and continued on as fans. I still listen to him everyday to balance my psyche and remember what is really important in life, especially in these chaotic times. The vibration of love and compassion in his voice, and the deep meanings in his words always touch my soul and provide healing. I consider it a privilege to share this aspect of John with as many people as I can, in my efforts to help heal others and help make our world a little better place for all of us.

seen this man many times when he came to australia and took my dear departed mum and dad and witnessed a human treasure that was beyond the stars his voice was like a rembrandt painting superb just superb was lucky to have seen him and so sad to lose him so tragically life is truly not fair
Every once in a while I always come back to this song. It's really crazy how universal music is, I am an African man, but this song right here always makes me stop and think about my life, life in generational, the past and the future.

Was fortunate enough to see John live on three separate occasions. Each concert was uniquely magical. The first included an entire orchestra and his band. The sound and depth of the music was incredible. The second was John and his band. The music was incredible - more dynamic and improvised at times. Both were at large outdoor amphitheaters, surrounded by nature. The third was just John and his guitar at an indoor theater. Very intimate and raw. Three amazing performances I will never forget. RIP John. Thanks for the memories and the inspiration to learn the guitar. Thanks for giving a voice to the beauty of all that God has created.

What a great story/writer not to mention great vocal, been listening for over 50 years still timeless music you never get tired of. Our world needs more music like John's, he left us too soon

My father introduced me to JD when I was a little girl. The two of them are so wrapped up together in my thoughts. He’s 75 now and fighting lymphoma with all his might.

I just turned 74 and this song means more to me each year. I do a lot of karaoke and before I leave this Earth I want to sing this song. I have always loved his songs and he had a sweet soul. I do Leaving on a Jet Plane, a favorite of mine😊

When I feel low and down, thinking about my lost brothers and sister who all died half way through their lives JD singing his songs always picked me up, tragic JD died tragically half way through is life, God Bless Them all.
Again I'm back at Red Rock John singing and playing with 17 thousand singing every song with him. The light show and film playing behind him, pure magic!!! God speed JD. Wish he could be with us! 🙏

@@andrerieumaastricht9811 I was and still am a great fan of your fathers music. Your father's music kept me from committing suicide June 21, 1979. I was 20 years old. "Sunshine on My Shoulders" came on the radio just as I put a gun to my head. As I listen to his voice and to the words to the song I put the gun down. Today I am a great grandfather and never thought about suicide again. The news of your fathers death struck me very hard. I then thought back to that day 18 years earlier and began to weep... God Bless You Henry John Deutschendorf "Denver." 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

John had forgotten more about being a entertainer, a communicator and a singer than most celebrities today ever learn.
He was a very humble man, and to the end of his life it just continued to amaze him that people by the thousands would happily pay to hear him sing his songs and tell his stories. He never assumed his own greatness.

His voice just got richer over the years. Every iteration made a song sound less like a performance and more like a personal conversation.

John Denver was a wonderful, humble performer. No "look at me" persona or irritating facial contortions, eye pops, swaying back and forth, or other distracting and annoying theatrics. He threw off a comfortable, easy, authentic, and safe vibe that helped make him such a pleasure to watch.
