I actually got to sit in a small circle with John Denver and hear him sing this song back around 1971 or 1972. My father worked for RCA Records and Denver was the special guest at an employee family picnic that my Dad had organized. I remember my father said "we have a new artist we really like." He was unknown to most of us, but he was great in person. About a year later he did his Rocky Mountain High TV special and became famous.
Such an awesome memory for you I grew up in Huntington Beach Ca and remember the Rocky Mountain High TV special. He was a favorite singer of mine back then.
Most people don't have a clue just how deep John Denver was so good with writing.wrote Anne's song on a ski lift in 10 mins.others the same. A great pilot could fly his Lear jet along with his father Dutch..sea planes. If only he hadn't claimed aboard a plane some guy built in his garage..some say they tried to add fuel but John said I'll only be up for a while..some say he ran out of fuel..what a waste..RIP..john
There will never be another like John Denver. A gracious, caring man with phenomenal talent. You know why very few others sing John’s songs? Because they can’t.
Legend. My dad played him on the guitar when i was a kid. I liked it then, but now its different. My dad died when I was 16, I'm 58 now and love his music even more now. Such an under rated talent!
He not only had a great voice, but he composed the songs he sang! He was a performer for “all time and all generations”! The words are so passionate and meaningful. I always fill up when I listen to “I’m Leaving on a Jet Plane”. 🥰👍☺️
I'd never listened to John before I'd started seeing my girlfriend near 4 years ago, now I'm hooked lol I tell her weird facts about him all the time and she couldn't give one fuck 🤣🤣🤣
They say you never miss the well till the water runs dry well there is absolutely no water whatsoever and a thousand Wells have run dry RIP john your voice will keep waters flwinv like a waterfall
July 4, 2024, Thursday. Philippines. John Denver! Years ago, my wife and I drove to the city to watch his concert. Maybe the greatest. For months, at night or early dawn, I listened to John Denver songs in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, while rushing my MSc thesis.
I attended this concert. Hearing it again brings back wonderful memories. This man was a wonderful advocate for Mother Earth. He must be grieving so right now, seeing the way the human race has destroyed this earth even further. I will always have very fond memories of Mr. Denver.
He is probably having tequila shots alright, because around the time he died he was caught driving around drunk multiple times and when he did die,... he was flying a plane, which was illegal for him at the time...
A man, a guitar, a beautiful voice and a lovely song. It doesn't come together often, but when it does it is pure magic. The why and how of it is mysterious, but we know it when we see and hear it.
Aloha John Denver and Sony Music Entertainment !!! Thanks for posting this awesome "Leaving On A Jet Plane." It's a great blessing to hear you sing . Am 78 years old and I love your songs of love and living !!!! Robert S.J. Hu August 23, 2020.
It wouldn't surprise me that when Jesus finally comes back to Earth to see John Denver close behind playing his guitar and singing a beautiful song......
I know how you feel. It hits me whenever I listen to songs. He was the greatest , so talented and such a beautiful person. 23 years later his songs float around in my head.
I was learning how to play guitar in 1992-1993, John's songs were the songs I used to practice and play, Thank you for everything and hope you are doing fine in Heaven.
My parents used to play his records, then his cassettes for me when I was little to help me fall asleep. My son is now four, and his music plays on loop for my son. My son tries to sing along, but doesn't know the words. My dad said I did the same thing when I was four. I'm so grateful I can share this with him. Five generations of my family loved this music, and with any luck: so will my son's children in time. The message is timeless, and needs to be remembered.
I was absolutely obsessed with John Denver and his music (Faaaar Out!) when I was a teen back in the mid-70's. Then, I used to sing quite a few of John's songs to my son at bedtime for many years... Now my son is a young daddy, and I hope he'll share some of John's amazing songs with his beautiful baby girl 💖🥰 Thank you, John Henry Deutchendorf, may you rest in peace, knowing that your wondrous music is still filling so many hearts! 💕
I discovered his music through my grandfather, he played Rocky Mountain High when we were coming home from a camping trip in the mountains. I instantly fell in love because the nature around me matched the music around me. I now know many John Denver songs and I want to share this wonderful music with my children and hopefully their children just as my grandfather did.
He and Sam Cooke are so underrated. Lord knows how great they would have been. Neither gets enough credit for how good they were. This is so beautiful.
My goal is to honor John Denver through music and with the help from a singing teacher i will form a coverband in Johns honor. People say: Those are some big shoes to fill. I am not trying to fill them i am basically trying to sing his music and making people remember him. I have done it many times but not in public Funerals, weddings and christmas dinners.
I love his songs also in 2020, maybe even more than before. In this difficult time of climate change and Coronavirus this good vibes are helpful for me 🙏
Yes, it comforts me, also, during Covid...hard times personally and collectively for all is. Take "heart for I am with you even through the ages", Jesus Christ says. ❤️
Solidarity sister. I like Calypso. In the music, you can hear the waves breaking upon the bow and the spirit of humanity. We're explorers, not slaves. Annie's song, can it be more amazing to love?
A man, a guitar, and a microphone. No fireworks, laser lights or distracting earplugs or outlandish costumes, or twerking. Pure talent!
Exactly 🙂

As a musician of 57 years, I can say that this guy was wonderfully talented. Why do the great ones have to go so early in life?
Add Jim Croce', Ricky Nelson, John Lennon and Buddy Holly!
God needs his musicians to perform in heaven
